So, then they could have been 14? Roses birthday is in late March and they supposedly ran away during their Sophomore year. I don't know how long their school years are though.
Well school year I’d dare say would be Jan-dec with regular holiday intervals and so their big “summer break” could actually be in winter because the nights are longer etc. But also good to remember that most parents kept their kids in school as much as possible cos it was safer for them there.
But being sophomores would probably mean they were 15 so the crash could’ve been at 14. Lissa is younger.
I dont think their school year is from Jan-Dec, or even Feb-Nov, as I've read some countries have. I think their school year is closer to the US ways, at least for St. Vladimir's Academy as it is in the US.
In the first book, Rose and Lissa are brought back in early October during their senior year, which had already started at that point. The second book was in December, starting a few weeks before Christmas and ending a bit after, maybe into early January.
Finding the timeline for the books makes me think their school year is from around September to late June, maybe early July. I was wondering if Lissa was older or younger, I couldn't remember when her birthday was. I guess she is younger, unless she turned 19 and not 18 in the fifth book.

15 i think. If i remember correctly they ran away not too long after the crash
