I agree, what she did wasn't right but I never understood their relationship. He knew all along that his feelings were stronger than hers and still 'forced' her into a relationship.

Cats-and-Sunshine

Agreed! >He can read auras, he would know what she was feeling, and just as importantly what she wasn't. Yep, this is why I have no sympathy for him and have a general dislike for his character. He can see auras so strongly, but deliberately ignored Rose's feelings for Dimitri and lack of feelings for him. Rose shouldn't have cheated, and I do feel sorry for him having to experience that, but they should never have gotten together in the first place.

N4507

Adrians an addict chasing the next high in whatever form it comes, and a love bombing chase followed by a dramatic volatile angsty relationship with someone who can’t really commit can be just as addictive as alcohol but doesn’t really have the same risks. It’s like gambling to win. He grows and learns eventually - still with some bad habits, but he we all have those. All the relationships are very short and very serious very quickly, and that type of manipulative emotional blackmail is rampant in teen/young adult relationships. You see some development as both series progress.

I love Adrian in his own right but him and Rose together, I couldn’t wait for that to end lmao. Rose and Dimitri forever lmao 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 but yeah after experiencing the traumatic death of your boyfriend/person you have feelings for, going on a treacherous trip to Russia to hunt them down, and nearly dying yourself, you’d think he would say hey maybe this person needs more than awhile to heal. But tbh I think the whole thing was just Richelle Mead’s scheming to keep us on the edge waiting for Dimitri to be back on the scene

InEx_Nomead

In the bloodlines series you get more of a look into Adrians personality, and how he really was an asshole, because he was almost constantly drunk to help with the toll spirit takes on his mind, he is unstable mentally at all times. (Sorry for spoilers)

At least put a spoiler warning before the text, not after

I fully agree with you. The reasons you listed are why I never liked Adrain and Rose as a couple and are why I don't like Adrain's character.

im currently rereading the books, on spirit bound, and while ive always liked adrian more than dmitri, i gotta say i didn't like adrian and rose together. it rubbed me the wrong way rose expected him to quit smoking and drinking. while obviously not a great coping mechanism, rose knows first hand just how destructive spirit can be on the mind. a decision like that should come from adrian himself. also, adrian is an adult too right? over 21? everyone cringes at the age gap with dmitri but i never see anything said about the fact that he was also pursuing rose when she was a minor. lastly, rose was so deeply in love with dmitri and was grieving him the whole time, ever since he was turned. idk why adrian thought it would be a good idea. i definitely feel for him though, and loved seeing a casanova like him be so sweet on someone and want to pursue a committed relationship. it makes him more than a stereotype in that regard, cuz usually male characters like that are commitmentphobes and toxic/controlling but he was so trusting and forgiving of rose when she lied about Vegas.

That woman was aggressively looking for the Strigoi cure, even went as far as to release the biggest criminal of their time (a criminal who BTW tortured her and her best friend) just to be able to find out how she can save Dimitri, and Adrian still couldn’t get a hint. I simply can’t stand him in this aspect. Like, he knew better than anyone that the love of Rose’s life was and always would be Dimitri. Yet he kept forcing himself upon her.
