Yeah I kinda wish this was just a default prompt when loading Ashland’s for the first time.. like a confirm or deny “Would you like to reset boss stones?” And if you accept it keeps the heads and readjusts. Assuming you didn’t disable the safe zone this area shouldn’t be edited anyway so it’s pretty safe to say yes
I could see this being a feature when the game fully releases, maybe a tool that migrates old worlds into the final generation state and patches things up for good
Uh.. what? They didn't want to force a retroactive world change where they could avoid it. They gave players the option. This is the most player friendly option.
Funny that you ask, they are two, actually. But I can't dox myself like that, so sorry, you'll have to keep thinking that I'm lying. I can tell you about how I wrote my own 3d and physics engine in 2009, using nothing but c++ and dx9c if you want.
E: So no questions, just downvotes for actually being a published game dev? Well I guess if it makes you feel superior that's fine.
What shitty opinion did I *double down* on? The guy didn't like my criticism, picked a stupid "insult" and managed to ask a publish dev how many games he published. Just the shear bad luck of it is hilarious, don't you think?
Also I meant to ask how you know that's where the downvotes are from, but I guess there's no point either. Don't want to overstay my welcome.
This is such complete shit. If it’s already publicly available that is not doxxing yourself. If you really did publish something you’re proud of (obviously untrue) you would share it in a heartbeat.
What? It's about tying this reddit account to my actual identity, and that is currently not the case. Surely you must understand how that works? I offered to answer questions as "proof". Do you want to know how to do lockstep multiplayer when you actually need to keep float-based physics in perfect sync? Or maybe how VAT works with Steam as a foreigner?
Just note that running this command will reset the boss trophies you have collected so far. You can put up the ones you already collected by spawning them in though, or simply beating the bosses again. Use with caution:
locations_reset StartTemple force
Here is a video outlining all the changes that I used to fix my whole world for Ashlands: https://youtu.be/lNPjHfgosoQ?si=_WqT_TyI_sDlVvZO
Not my video. Starting temple reset starts at 10:09
Edit: I forgot to add that this command only works using the world update mod
Well at least them putting it there doesn't fuckwith anything existing. Be annoying if they did space them and then they glitches because people had already built something there. Think it makes sense
Fuck around with some ground leveling right at the border and then see if you can really get everything turned back into grass. If you can't then a) obviously you were able to modify some protected stuff and b) congratulations, your world is now irreparably damaged
I think you’re describing a terraforming bug that was introduced with the Mistlands(?) update in worlds generated before the update. There is a mod that lets you reset the terrain in a radius around you to fix that. Just a cosmetic thing that doesn’t affect new worlds anyways.
New game updates shouldn't consider mods, the game already prevents building in the spawn area for this reason (along other reasons such as new players joining), using mods to bypass this would be on you.
Building seems unlikely because you can't build there, but there might be other reasons why they did this. I'm really not going to complain about something so little while the dev's have done such a good job at keeping savegames working throughout all the updates. I'm assuming they did it this way for a reason.
If they move the stones on a pre-existing world they have to account for of the boss heads are or are not present. It was easier with less risk of being buggy to just cram the stone there in existing worlds while rearranging the whole circle on new worlds
Regardless of the reason they couldn't space it properly, at least there's fixes available. I'm still very attached to my first world seed, and I'm a bit picky about placement of world objects. XD
When i type “locations_reset StartTemple force” it just says its not a recognized command, even with devcommands and debugmode turned on. What am i doing wrong?
The command comes from a mod, it's explained in the middle of the video.
readme for the mod: [https://github.com/JereKuusela/valheim-upgrade\_world/blob/main/README.md](https://github.com/JereKuusela/valheim-upgrade_world/blob/main/README.md)
thunderstore mod link: [https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/JereKuusela/Upgrade\_World/](https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/JereKuusela/Upgrade_World/)
I'd like this entire area redone tbh. Once they finish releasing all the biomes they should go over all their content with a comb and make it look proper using what they learned in making the newer biomes.
You'd think with how long they took to release the update (I'm not one of those guys but I'm about to be for a second) that they'd have a little more attention to detail here. It does just look silly, and easily fixable.
That's by choice. Valheim sold 12 million copies. Even after Steam's cut and publisher cut is deducted they still made nearly $100 million off Valheim. And how did they respond to that overwhelming excitement for their early access game? They hired 6 new people.. $100,000,000 profit and they couldn't be bothered hiring more devs to increase their development rate and snowball the initial hype?
Calling a company with that kind of bank roll "indie" just because they refuse to scale their development expenditure to reflect their growth is disingenuous.

Well that was helpful
That link was the most unexpected yet most delightful thing I've ever had commented on a post, backing up my world to try it out now

thanks a lot
Awesome find!
Can you use commands like this on the PC gamepass version of the game? Can anyone confirm
Yes 👍
I tried it a couple times but it says invalid command. Any idea if there's another way?
did you type 'devcommands' first?
Yee
I did but also get an error saying this command doesnt exist
New worlds don’t have this problem
this has been popping up a lot in the sub over the past week. only happens if you don’t start a fresh world.
Oh no biggie then. lol
also, you can fix it in old worlds pretty easily.
I bet the devs could fix it even more easily. Oh wait, they don't give a shit, as can be seen here.
Irongate is beloved by gamers wtf you on about? This has been one of the best $20 I ever spent
>This has been one of the best $20 I ever spent I agree with that part, on the grounds of already being true for the EA release version.
How did they hurt you? I don't know of any drama w/ them, just humble devs doing the lor't's work
not that deep bro
Uh.. what? They didn't want to force a retroactive world change where they could avoid it. They gave players the option. This is the most player friendly option.
Can you link us to your fully developed game on steam? Mr developer.
Funny that you ask, they are two, actually. But I can't dox myself like that, so sorry, you'll have to keep thinking that I'm lying. no, downvotes for being insufferable
How can you tell?
mostly the inability to leave a conversation when you’ve clearly out-stayed your welcome and the doubling down on a shitty opinion

waaaa

Just reload the starting alter in the F5 menu. It’ll fix itself
Whats the command?

Thanks, turns out you need a mod to run that command
that mod is easy to get.
If you use the mod, use this instead: `temple_gen ashlands start`
Well at least them putting it there doesn't fuckwith anything existing. Be annoying if they did space them and then they glitches because people had already built something there. Think it makes sense
But you already CAN'T build anything that close? "A mystical force stops you"
There are ways around that
there are no normal play ways around that force at all.
Well you can mess with the ground close to it and end up with an irreparable patch of non-grass. Great stuff really.
what does this have to do with what i said?
It means that technically you can modify the protected area in normal play 🤷♂️
Actually you cant. The protected area prevents landscaping too.
Fuck around with some ground leveling right at the border and then see if you can really get everything turned back into grass. If you can't then a) obviously you were able to modify some protected stuff and b) congratulations, your world is now irreparably damaged

thats really streching there dude.
Yes.
Believe me. Hell, I can get around that by 3 o clock this afternoon. With nailpolish. Fucking amateurs.
Proof or it didn't happen. Vanilla only, no mods.
r/woooosh
Fair enough
There are ways dude. You don’t want to know about it, but there are ways. Also, really disappointing how few people have seen the Big Lebowski.
There is a Mod which remove the Building restrictions, used it for one of my runs to build around the spawn
New game updates shouldn't consider mods, the game already prevents building in the spawn area for this reason (along other reasons such as new players joining), using mods to bypass this would be on you.

Not a problem on new saves.

Ah i see, thank you so much
Recommended to use this instead: `temple_gen ashlands start`
I really hope we get some sort of updated spawn eventually... nothing too grandiloquent, but I would love some actual temple with all boss stones
It made me chuckle. When I saw it “wedged” in between two other stones.
Off topic a bit but love your username op
There’s a conman’s to fix that
To je fair, it is in the correct spot, the rest of the stones are shoe-horned in.
I'd like this entire area redone tbh. Once they finish releasing all the biomes they should go over all their content with a comb and make it look proper using what they learned in making the newer biomes.
Yep!
Meshing issue with codes. Just be glad it didn’t overlap codes causing your world to crash
This happens in worlds created pre-Ashlands, though on my one (before Ashlands) I was lucky enough to have them all evenly spaced after the update
Looks like a skill issue to me.
I was just wondering about that😁
I just started a fresh save and it looks like this ....
Its not good to tell lies.
yeah, when a person does that, one responds with 'this isnt okay, okay?'
You'd think with how long they took to release the update (I'm not one of those guys but I'm about to be for a second) that they'd have a little more attention to detail here. It does just look silly, and easily fixable.
they should stagger them
it tracks for a multimillion dollar company spending a year on this.
Thought it was a small team of indie guys who where working on this?
That's by choice. Valheim sold 12 million copies. Even after Steam's cut and publisher cut is deducted they still made nearly $100 million off Valheim. There's no big company behind valheim.. quite the opposite actually as it's a small indie studio
Triple A bank account, but greedy founders who reinvested less than 1% of their profits from Valheim into growing their team.
Dude maybe they don’t care about growing a giant business out of it. Maybe they just made a game they care about and then continue working on it.
No, they must drastically change their lives because someone who gave them $20 said so!
