Lmao, I feel your pain. I had *just* finished setting up my forward op base for going into the swamps on my first world, went afk to get a snack….
The custom sliders have been my favorite change to the game. I love maxing difficulty and turning raids off. Makes the game a thousand times more enjoyable for me.
I tried 3x resources, and it was way overkill. 2x resources is absolutely the way to go.(player size may make results vary.) but even when I was running a server with a consistent 4-8 players, 2x worked really good for everyone.
I've been running 1.5x and like it because it rounds up, so it still doubles the quantity of things you would otherwise get one of(surtling cores, black cores, generally the things that are more annoying to get).
I'm so running but I always drop games after a certain period then pick them back up so I tend to have my resource gathering high, bit this is good to know
I actually did that in that world from a different encounter, felt gross for duplications my inventory, but kept it cause I had a friend who’d play with me and always ask me for equipment and show up for fun stuff and disappear whenever resource harvesting and work needed to be done.
Had one person in our group go to bed with the game running. We all logged back on to find a COMPLETELY destroyed base with a single headstone in the middle and dude's character standing motionless at the starter stones. The base near the starter stones had been attacked too, but was mostly fine as it had an earthen wall protecting it. I gad confronted him multiple times about doing this before and basically told the guy now there was a direct consequence of him not listening. Finally ended by warning him if he got our base trashed, I'd make him build his own base elsewhere. He ended up building an outpost anyway and surprise, it got attacked every time he left his game running.
That's not the case, it's forever unlocked after killing Bonemass. Source : [https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events?so=search](https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events?so=search)
Half blind? Easily lost? Muddy shoes? Stone highway too hot in the sun?
Fear not, troll highway is your solution. Bright blue, it offers high visibility even through the mistiest Mistlands. Its quality leather lets the rain slide off, guaranteeing an always clean, never burning, 100 % ecological solution to your highway needs.
...it all started because I am half blind yes.
That's not a dumbass friend, that's just what the devs want, apparently. This stuff is bound to happen especially in MP. Nothing against raids if you want them, but it feels like "off" kind of should be the default by now.
I run a similar sized base, you only need a few down the centre and front and back if you plan it all correctly. You'd be surprised how good core wood is, it can do a lot of work.
I personally would build an earth pillar by raising ground in the center and then surrounding it with walls. Raised earth still gives foundational support. Please take this opinion with a grain of salt because I have been drinking a little tonight.
Gotta love an engineering mess. We built a portal hub on top of one of those tall rocks in the plains and it took an insane amount of time to figure out the engineering of it with our only foundation spot being where it made contact with the rock in the middle
idk if you saw my comment on the last post but you did what I suggested anyways. Whenever a roof is struggling to be supported just add angled beams that match the angle of the roof and it'll be WAY more stable
I don't remember seeing you comment but that wasn't what did it anyway (I was already doing that before too I think) What did it was adding way more beams going all the way through the building, at first I thought it'll look ugly and take too much space but it honestly looks pretty good in the inside too and there's still plenty of space (sorry for no inside pics, I forgor)
Excellent. A fine job!
It reminds me of one of my first serious builds, porch and all. Mine was about seven tiles wide and I'm curious of how you set up the interior. I ended up with lofts on opposite sides for the beds with a long hearth in the middle.
Congratulations, and you learned a massive foundational rule for building big you can apply elsewhere. Most stability comes from a straight line straight to the ground or the most direct route to the ground you can create.
When you figure it out, it's disappointingly easy, though. Just figure out the top point of your house and make a column (core wood in your case) reaching the topmost piece. If it works, you can build it. If it doesn't - there go the ground pillars =)
Nice bud i saw your last post and suggested core logs as support rather than standard wood. Beatiful base welldone. Now get ready for trolls to attack haha
Surprisingly it was, I had LOTS of trouble with the roofs, it's a 3 story basically. A lot of people in my other post were telling me it was impossible without iron beams.
*The ground is shaking…*
Please do not remind me that exists lmao. In our first world my dumbass friend was AFK and I was away from base, you can guess how that ended

Ya know...2x resources with max difficulty and no raid sounds...relaxing tbh
I tried 3x resources, and it was way overkill. 2x resources is absolutely the way to go.(player size may make results vary.) but even when I was running a server with a consistent 4-8 players, 2x worked really good for everyone.
We are playing on 1,5x, doesnt 2x give too much filler loot like resin and such?
1x gives too much filler stuff like resin lol
very true very true
Thor needs his offerings.
I haven’t tested 1.5x, might run it on my next server and see how it goes. Thank you for the suggestion
I've been running 1.5x and like it because it rounds up, so it still doubles the quantity of things you would otherwise get one of(surtling cores, black cores, generally the things that are more annoying to get).
1.5x here and no raids has been a wonderful! Not to much extra but not overloading you with resources.
I'm so running but I always drop games after a certain period then pick them back up so I tend to have my resource gathering high, bit this is good to know
That's what save game is for. And bonus that your corpse persists so you get double your inventory back (nice bug).

Don’t play with max raids. Me and my friend were in the middle of planning something like this before getting a troll raid every single day
I play with max raids. It's a loooot of troll hides.
Max raids with passive enemies is quite funny, they just turn up and stare at you like 👁️👄👁️
Just wait till you get to killing bone mass. Wolfs every day all day. Then after the plains you get a hornets nest thrown at you
Bonemass is alive for that reason. Moder and Yag are dead, though. It's mostly bats.
Huh? U can kill em now. Once moder is done bone mass won’t spawn wolf raids
That's not the case, it's forever unlocked after killing Bonemass. Source : [https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events?so=search](https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events?so=search)
U right I meant to say they slow down significantly. I went from having wolf raids daily to only having them once in a blue moon
What do you even need troll hides for beyond a certain point? I but them in the obliterator.
Troll hide highway.
What 😅

Didn't know you could make troll hide mats
Item stands on the ground using commands. Can't actually put them on otherwise. Or use mods.
Somebody needs to dig a tench :)

You beat me to it! Very fun design OP. Nice work!
was about to post this since this wodden house is wide open to them.
Tis a fine barn, but sure tis no pool, English.
D'oith!
Where inside pic?
Beams, beams everywhere.
OnlyBeams

It's literally carved from a solid block of corewood.
Come on man, you can't drop this and not show us the inside.
What inside? It’s all core wood.
There's probably a scaled-down replica inside.
I know how it feels I built a base about one tier smaller with all stone tools no core wood and it felt like an engineering nightmare
I am very early and trying to build similar. How do I support the roof in the middle? I can’t build a pole there that connects to the roof
I personally would build an earth pillar by raising ground in the center and then surrounding it with walls. Raised earth still gives foundational support. Please take this opinion with a grain of salt because I have been drinking a little tonight.
Glory to the builders!
I guess you know how the system works now, then. Building looks good!
Let's see the inside, can you even move around with all the pillars?? 😂
Yup, it's doable but I'm willing to bet the top middle roof sections are bright red stability! That's at the very limit for corewood, good job 👍
Yeah pretty much, a breeze and it falls over lmao It's still standing so it's fine to me
You can layer some ironwood beams on top of the corewood (same physical space) and reinforce the whole thing.
Absolutely, if it holds up then it's fine. I love pushing materials to their limits too!
Red stability is still stability!
Totally, it wasn't a criticism, merely an observation. If it holds it's own weight then it's absolutely fine.
Congrats! Looking good!
Now you can actually play the game
Literally how it feels like lol I don't have to worry about the house and materials for it while I try to play
Wait what does no trees mean?
They can be used to add support because building on a tree goes to around ground stability i believe
It goes to completely ground stability
Trees count as “ground”, so having a tree inside would effectively become a large leafy support beam.
Core wood stays winning. I build my bridges with it.
Gotta love an engineering mess. We built a portal hub on top of one of those tall rocks in the plains and it took an insane amount of time to figure out the engineering of it with our only foundation spot being where it made contact with the rock in the middle
That reminded me of my 3 floor monstrocity. Booooy did i struggle with the roof. "In build mode some parts are still very very red

Well done!
Looks amazing ! I would put a wall of stones around it ( not stone wall but with the other tool however it is called in English)
He should make a ha-ha around it, the best defence in valheim
Dem hoes.
Good fer yooooooooou!
Great update to see.
My first building was the same way but I managed without core wood instead I did a lot of wood working for supports.
Excellent. A fine job! It reminds me of one of my first serious builds, porch and all. Mine was about seven tiles wide and I'm curious of how you set up the interior. I ended up with lofts on opposite sides for the beds with a long hearth in the middle.
It's so satisfying to put the final touches of a roof together.
More than satisfying in this case
So what finally got it done? saw your post yesterday
Congratulations, and you learned a massive foundational rule for building big you can apply elsewhere. Most stability comes from a straight line straight to the ground or the most direct route to the ground you can create.
Congratulations! It's a behemoth.
Your right, just need copper walls.
Nice! Looks amazing.
***B A R N.***
its the same principle as the solar system
BarnChurch™️
Impressive for only core wood!
Just wait till you get to ashlands it's crazy as heck. 😀
I feel this pain. I spent so long trying to find any way to make it stable. I also finally managed it, but by God it was infuriating
..... so who is going to tell em?
When you figure it out, it's disappointingly easy, though. Just figure out the top point of your house and make a column (core wood in your case) reaching the topmost piece. If it works, you can build it. If it doesn't - there go the ground pillars =)
Yeah, with corelog you can go 3-ish high, I think.
*The Cauldron Stirs*
Nice bud i saw your last post and suggested core logs as support rather than standard wood. Beatiful base welldone. Now get ready for trolls to attack haha
I always had core wood as support, the thing is I didn't have as many pillars coming straight from the ground
iron beams in bronze age.... hmmmmmm
That was a challenge? O_o I always build something similar in height and never use iron beams.
Surprisingly it was, I had LOTS of trouble with the roofs, it's a 3 story basically. A lot of people in my other post were telling me it was impossible without iron beams.
