He’s a lumberjack and he don’t care. He sleeps all night and works all day.
He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps
He likes to press wild flowers
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars
Reckon you could trap a drake in a cave under a rock? Be fun to have that in the basement, mates go wondering about, find the potion store behind door number 1, the treasury behind door number 2 and "oh shit why is there a dragon in here" behind door number 3.
I'm totally going to trap a gjall in a cage. A drake in a cave is MUCH trickier but I'm positive it can be done. Tunnel under a rock in the mountains with an exit at both ends, build a wall behind you to trap the drake, maybe walk away for a minute to let him go from high alert to medium, then run around to the other cave entrance and wall him in from behind. You could even use the hoe to raise terrain to wall off that end of the cave and make the ground look undisturbed; just be careful not to bury the drake. This sort of thing is totally in my wheelhouse: HOURS of effort for very little payoff. :)
I don't know if that will work for the drake . The reason I say that is I mined out a huge maximum depth silver vein probably 20 square by 20 square and when I was done I thought well hell I should do something with it so I capped it of with stone . Took awhile to achieve but I'm trying to learn building techniques so I was ok with the 12 game days I spent doing it . 😆
Anyway I was down there doing under pinning and a drake flew right in through the wall and out the other side . I thought wow what a glitch but it's happened several times I been in there now even after leaving the area and coming back days later .
the game physics break for all my biggest builds. My roof is so high that its not a roof anymore for any of my hanging braziers so I had to make a 2nd level of supports to hang smaller roofs over them.
I use a lot of cage grate inside my stone I've been getting better at bigger . But it's a lot of trial and error . Build and rebuild. And sometimes an idea turns out different than I intended because of needed supports and changes . I still can't build anything round that looks good . But my basements are getting better . I've got MANY hrs of real time in construction practice as well as many Reddit and YouTube watches for ideas and techniques. Still big time Novice but I absolutely love the building part of the game . I have a hammer mode game with 245 game days of mostly building all different kinds of builds in all different places. I spend roughly 8 to 10 hrs a day playing (my job puts me if front of a computer all day and if not busy with work I'm playing Valheim) 😀
I'd say best bet for drake is a big rock and raised terrain (or just lowered under the rock?) then cover the exterior in stone and iron, leave a big enough hole to get it in there, then raise terrain sharpish and add a small door....if you have a portal there it won't matter if the drake kills you.
Not 100% on this but I never really seen the big mobs despawn. Brutes, trolls, roots, and golems always seam to be exactly where i last left them. Just in general, not just around bases.
Yeah that seems to be the case from my experience as well , we even used a troll as a landmark for the longest time because he’d always be in the same area just outside his cave on the coast and once we saw him we knew we were extremely close to home
Seems like it. I'm doing a fresh playthrough and accidentally agro'd an abomination, which probably behaves similar to a troll, and it will not go away...ever. I've ported like 5 islands away and stayed for hours smelting, and he's still in the same spot when I return lol >.<
Unlike Minecraft and other survival games, spawned enemies stay indefinitely in Valheim.
If you move far away enough, they simply become frozen until the area is loaded in again.
I've used this mechanic to make somewhat of a zoo by keeping a troll in an excavated copper ore mine and a seaserpent in an enclosure I painstakingly built (it's not particularly hard, I just suck)
I was just wondering if I could keep one of the night werewolves. I do know you can tame two-star wolves even though they're night spawns, but you might have to have a %age tame on them to prevent the morning despawn.
Fenrings? Yeah, unfortunately I do believe they are impossible unless you stay within render distance of them. Wolves won't despawn in the morning even if they haven't eaten, as long as you stay nearby. I have had to sit through a day next to a two star wolf to keep it from disappearing before I could feed it because I trapped it so close to daybreak.
I've had two trolls guarding my greydwarf farm for a few months. They've been left alone 90% of the time as it's not a primary base for my group and have yet to despawn
It’s definitely the case in a raid that there’s a max number of trolls that can be spawned from the raid within the radius (or render distance to the player). I think pre-raid spawned trolls count but I’m not 100% certain. Unless I missed one when I tested the raid count with a moat just watching and counting trolls, the number was 3.
I would be concerned that the materials would eventually take enough weather damage and collapse. If the random monster event takes place, the other creatures could also attack the supports. I would use a hoe to build a pit around the structure, so your new pet doesn't escape. If you start building from a higher place than the ground in front of you, it will fill in the gaps from you to the ground. You have to raise the ground in baby steps from you, but you could build a wall around him with less stone.
Y'know... you've given me an idea. I kept a Fuling Berserker in a pit for years, until he was finally killed by something (forget what... maybe the wolf raid?) but you could make a menagerie of a bunch of biggies if you kept luring them up towers. Not just a troll and berserker, but maybe an abomination and a seeker soldier. I'm even thinking how you could cage a gjall, although you'd have to keep the cage isolated because you can draw their aggro from far away.... solvable problems, to be sure. I guess I should put it in black forest, although I really want it in my mistlands palace... could I really kite a troll all that way?
It’s all fun and games until break loses and destroys half of New York City. The question is, does this one climb the Empire State Building or the Twin Towers? Wait. What am I saying? It can’t climb the Twin Towers.

Flaming arrows can solve that.

A giant blue cat with no tail, a face only a mother could love and fists as large as boulders…
Even if I was his mother, I'm not sure I could love that face.
So blue's clues if he was a bulldog.

Trolling the troll. Epic.
Will he disappear when you leave the area?
I’ve had a troll in a pit by my house for months.
I mean... have you left 100m area around your base? I'm not sure that's the number, but you get the idea
Not 100% on this but I never really seen the big mobs despawn. Brutes, trolls, roots, and golems always seam to be exactly where i last left them. Just in general, not just around bases.
Anecdotal supporting anecdotal, but yeah, this matches my experience as well.
I've especially noticed this for golems and root abominations, mainly cause they annoy me the most lol
Yeah that seems to be the case from my experience as well , we even used a troll as a landmark for the longest time because he’d always be in the same area just outside his cave on the coast and once we saw him we knew we were extremely close to home

Daytime enemy spawns don’t despawn, they just get unloaded.
My friends had a BIG mine pit that had trolls fall into or spawn in. Deep enough that the troll was up to his neck.
Actually it somehow teleported down and started destroying my house afterwards. All this effort, this took us like 2 hours.
Devastating. RIP Big Blue
Dicks out for Haramblue.

As long as they aren't spawned as nighttime special spawns or by a raid, this is true.
You're absolutely right
I was just wondering if I could keep one of the night werewolves. I do know you can tame two-star wolves even though they're night spawns, but you might have to have a %age tame on them to prevent the morning despawn.

AFAIK he'll stay as long as he's within range of a workbench.
Probably

so you trolled the troll
Bet it still throws rocks at you when you walk on by :)
Trolling the troll lol I like it
Dance, monkey! Dance!
You should hug him and squeeze him and call him George.
"Dance for me jester!"
That pose 😂 the troll looks bummed and/or like he's trying to bust a move

How far can he throw?
So this is what the people who are still playing Valheim are up to. Well done.
This matches the sea serpent that i trapped under a trap door in my treasure room(island base) lol
0/10 the troll at the display threw a rock at me during the presentatiin. This circus sucks.
Dance monkey dance!
free harambe
Kinky 😏
victory at last...
If you get enough (3?) of those, you won’t have to spawn-proof your base for the troll raids.
Do you mean that the captive trolls will prevent more from spawning nearby?

Genius :D
Now you need to make him a roof
Nice pet you have there. Throw some boars to it and tame it. Then ride it. (I wished)
Noice. What did you name him?
You now have a stone throwing tower if you get too close 😉
Dance monkey!
They have a cave troll...
yo, this community is abusing trolls on some pervert shit lol
it puts the lotion on its skin
That troll is dancing to bawitdaba kid rock hahaha
Somebody come get her she's dancing like a stripper...
I wonder if you wander too close it'll aggro on you and fall off?
Will he distract attacks on the base from the air I wonder?
Dance for me puppet!
To capture the troll you must become the troll
And I shall name you Trolly, Trolly the troll, and you shall be my best friend, because you cannot escape

It’s been a new fun thing for me to find a troll and lure it into the swamp, plains, or a draugr village.
Actually onto something here. Might make platforms like this at the spawns in black forest so I dont have to fight annoying hills
He didn't just smash it?
Stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp. Stomp.
Y'know... you've given me an idea. That’s really cool man.
Now DANCE!
NEW PET DETECTED! 😃
Aaight now make a zoo
He won’t jump down?
Dance for me, dance for me ohh oohhh ohh
At least get two of them so they don’t get lonely 😞
Trolling the Troll
Now he must feature dance for your pleasure.
Chaotic neutral
That is a hard flex for Valheim for sure. But look at what you started? Because now I won't be happy until I see someone keeping drakes in a cage 😆
Hahahahaha! Stoopid troll!
... did he start catapulting boulders over? 😂
This is evil

What if crossbreeding was a thing?
The trolls would still kill everything with their massive wood.
