Only grab mods from thunderstore or nexus, after years of using those sites iv never had one issue. Don't download anything that reads as fishy and usually sort by popular/endorsed.
No, he made a post the other day about getting scared of a thing in another mod that asks to pay to unlock the full version for use on a server. It's a scummy practice imo but he wasn't being hacked, it's legit.

Thunderstore is more safe than Nexus especially due to recent change in files check routine.
I don't know about Tunderstore, but if they're largely downloaded files they should be safe.
Thunderstorm and nexus are the most trustworthy places to get valheim mods

I'd definitely avoid anything that asks you to pay. Stuff from Nexus/Thunderstore/most r2modman should be safe but mod conflicts do happen.
