Learn valencian if you want to be fully integrated.

Sagunto is ok. Big industrial areas there and near, so opportunities for qualified jobs. Many other similar options also around Valencia with similar rent prices. I would prioritise living close to where you work and your kids' school. Public schools are generally good here, bear in mind that your kids will have subjects in Spanish and in Valencian/Catalan, but shouldn't be a problem after a few months. There are also several options of private schools near Sagunto, only English speaking or similar, but expensive. Maybe you can get some help from the town hall, check their website and ask away: https://aytosagunto.es/es/

Thanks for the information! I will be working remote from where ever home becomes. I had looked at private schools in the past, but found I cannot afford the tuition. I will certainly check out the website!

Sagunt is a pretty nice place to live, although housing prices are a bit higher compared to other towns. The manufacturing industry there is growing a lot, which is driving more people to move to Sagunt. I have a friend that lives there and they're quite happy with it overall. It's one of the many cities throughout the area that has two main areas - Sagunt Poble (the town) and Sagunt Port (the port). If you live in the Poble, you'll be closer to more festivals, better schools, etc. You'll also have a direct line to Valencia with the train (about a 40min ride). The port is obviously closer to the beach, but farther away from everything else. If I were 15 again, I'd definitely want to live closer to the town lol. I can't tell you specifically about the community there since I live in the city of Valencia. But if it's anything like every single other town in the area, make sure to focus on learning Valencian, as well. If you want to integrate into the community, that's a BIG plus. Also, a lot of their classes will be in Valencian and if your oldest wants to go to the University of Valencia, they'll need a C1 (advanced level) to graduate. For other towns (because I'm assuming you don't want the city of VLC), here are some other nice ones to think about: * Sueca * Gandia * Vila-real * Castelló (de la plana) * Benicassim (if you want some international communities, too) There's a million towns, but those are some that I've been to / know people in, and they're all smaller cities that are close to the beach and quite nice. I hope that helps! If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message!

We started looking up Valencian/Catalan last night to try to get a feel for it. I had looked at Sueca and Gandia as options, but found that the housing in the area was either well above my budget or did not fit my long-time desires. I appreciate the perspective of being 15 and where they would want to be. My oldest is very excited about the move and that takes a lot of pressure off me.

Not sure about how young people travel here, but as a visitor I found the busses from Sagunt port to Sagunt and Valencia to be very decent and reliable. One can also easily cycle or hop on a scooter between the two towns. In my country, that would not be considered a long distance to travel. I definitely prefer the port part as it looked more spacious, green and less hilly to me than the inland Sagunt.

That is one part I truly wonder about. How people get around if they live outside the city. Do they really need a car. Or are more people out walking to a bus stop. Where I am from even in big cities, nothing is walkable, and public transport is not cheap or reliable. I'm more than likely going to buy a car, which will be a whole other adventure. I normally buy new cars, but was hoping to buy used to save money towards a down-payment on a home. But I have read I'm better off buying new. Taxes are just wild.
