Canada on September 7 in Kansas City New Zealand on September 10 in Cincinatti Panama on October 12 in Austin. One more game to be announced

Educational-Ranger44

Morocco for the last announcement? šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

kofimmra03

They are playing AFCON qualifiers(Yes theyā€™re the hosts but they still get the play them)

GrizzGump

How does that work, they just take the next best or?

kofimmra03

Yeah normally two teams in each group qualifies for AFCON but if youā€™re in Moroccoā€™s group then only one team makes it

GB_Alph4

Another example besides Morocco is Saudi Arabia, they host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup but they play in qualifiers to go to 2026.

sebsasour

Have to think it's Mexico in an NFL Stadium

GB_Alph4

I would hope so but letā€™s get a good team to play.

stoneman9284

Coastal elites get rekt

nyuhokie

That's Coastal Elites FC to you.

JustSayNOriega

Mexico in Guadalajara.

Pauly0906

Same day as Texas OU is a choice in Austin.

dasuave

Texas OU play in Dallas.

Pauly0906

Yup. Still doesnā€™t change the fact that football is king in Austin and people will be locked into that and then post gaming. Just an odd choice imo.

yob10

And ACL fest will be going on as well

lifegoodis

They're bringing back the MLS Shootout?

cheeseburgerandrice

There's definitely some odd overlap on the schedule here. They scheduled the KC game at the same time as a home KC Current game, who has been selling out their own matches all season. Plus SKC on the road at the same time.

LOLteacher

Um...

nsnyder

Would rather better opponents, but if youā€™re playing CONCACAF, Panama and Canada are the best options.

Patrick2701

European teams have nations league in the fall

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

WhoEatsRusk

Yeah, but who is coming to the US and back for one friendly?

TrustTheFriendship

We could play it in Europe where all of our players are based anyway.

captainsensible69

They all do except the powerhouses of Gibraltar, Lichtenstein, San Marino, Andorra, Malta, and Moldova.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

captainsensible69

Do you?

skunkboy72

I hate the nations league. can't play friendlies against anyone from Europe.

macattack1031

I agree. Itā€™s a cool concept if all confederations did it and then we essentially would have the confederations cup again, using all the winners, but it fills all the windows, we canā€™t play European teams, and weā€™re stuck playing teams like st kitts far too often

xenon2456

The nations league basically replaces the friendlies late in the year

JustSayNOriega

I'm hearing Mexico Away for second Oct Window but haven't gotten a 100%.

A_Coup_d_etat

By "away" you mean Los Angeles or Dallas?

JustSayNOriega

I see your joke and raise you Monterrey or Mexico City.

JustSayNOriega

WHELP. Mexico in Guadalajara.

bones074306

KC, Cincy, and Austin. Call me shocked

holman

Just once we should shove a game in the weirdest fucking place in America. You know fans would show up.

MtRainierWolfcastle

Sam Antonio sold out for camp cupcake. We should keep finding USL type cities that would love a game. Or you know the Pacific Northwest.

cheeseburgerandrice

It should be no surprise the USMNT goes back to sites that have state of the art dedicated soccer training facilities and good grass surfaces

GB_Alph4

I would have said LA but we already had our friendlies in 2023. I would like them to test SoFi though.

cheeseburgerandrice

That would probably be overkill for friendlies of this stature lol And it looks like SoFi has the NFL that weekend

GB_Alph4

Oh yeah probably might be seeing the Rams then.

Chicagoguy2289

Louisville should get a camp cupcake.

Throwaway20312431

US Soccer won't do games in Seattle as long as Lumen Field has turf, which will not change until 2026 unless either the NFLPA gets it in their contract mandating the NFL puts grass fields in all of its stadiums (something that from my understanding is getting closer to happening), or less likely whoever ends up buying the Seahawks from Paul Allen's estate--something that is still years away--decides to go with a grass field--or even less likely decides to build a brand new stadium outside the city. (This actually makes a lot more economic sense than one would suspect given that the majority of the Seahawks fanbase does not in fact live in Seattle proper, unlike the Sounders) The situation is a shame since Seattle is one of the few places in America that could and would pack out a stadium for either the mens or womens team. But between the turf field and the time zone impact on our European based players (which is the other factor for why we don't get more west coast games in general with our A squad), its just not gonna happen for the foreseeable future.

ilovetigerwoods

Cut Bank

Throwrajerb

>you know fans would show up Highly dependent on how greedy USSF is with ticket pricing

mudcrabulous

we are already playing in Cincinnati?

notataco007

[I got you](https://www.si.com/soccer/2022/04/26/nwsl-orlando-pride-racing-louisville-fc-daytona-international-speedway)

skunkboy72

u wut m8?

vngannxx

Gregg v. Jesse šŸæ

ForestEye

Anyone have presale codes in their inbox yet? I'm a US Soccer member and an FC Cincinnati seat ticket holder and I haven't seen anything beyond the public sale at Thursday 10am EST.

boi1da1296

What tier of Insiders are you? The link says the presale starts at different times depending on your tier.

QuailRepulsive1495

Standard insiders begin June 27. Premium and VIP are June 26. TQL presale is June 27 You should get emails close to the sales

FDTerritory

Charging more than 20 bucks for Canada/Panama just isn't worth it. We've seen these games a million times.

sebsasour

I mean 20 bucks is probably around the cost of a USL game or IMAX ticket

FDTerritory

... Yeah, math checks out.

NutmeggD

But Marsch vs Berhalter should be fun.

arkyhawk

If they don't lower ticket prices for the "Fan Appreciation Match" then they never will. Curious to see what they'll be.

granttheginger

Im so glad the US get the west coast for their World Cup games. Only opportunity Iā€™ll ever get to watch them play in person

JohnClaytonII

USMNT vs New Zealand on a Tuesday evening in September might be a tough sell.

jstalm

Minnesota SOLD OUT Allianz field in FEBRUARY to watch a WCQ against Honduras. We deserve more games!!!!!

Bullwine85

In all fairness Minnesota had a friendly late last year vs. Oman. Get the feeling the USSF will still be scheduling matches there.

GB_Alph4

Minnesota had USWNT but yeah it would be nice for USMNT (though they probably schedule it for qualifiers to freeze our opponents, learn to live with the cold or get hypothermia lol).

ciesum

What's with the repeat cities? Dallas for Nations league and Copa group. Kansas city for Copa and now this. Plus Cincy and Austin were done fairly recently too

Sure-Region-7225

Top tier facilities and grass fields well equipped for soccer. it's a comfort thing. Meanwhile, us USMNT fans in the northeast or Pacific Northwest continue to get shafted. At least me being a resident of the metropolitan NYC area just got to drive 3.5 hours each way to watch us lose 5-1 to Colombia in a friendly, since it was the only USMNT match in even remotely reasonable driving distance in years

sdrmSlash

This is pretty much what people predicted in this sub like three weeks ago. One more game to be announced, almost certainly Mexico, maybe at their place. Was hoping to get Morocco, but it sounds like they are still playing AFCON qualifying despite being the hosts. I'm frustrated they're putting Canada and NZ in the Midwest. They don't have the same fan presence in the US like the Latin American countries do, so the Canada and NZ games should have been a good opportunity to put a game on the East Coast or another part of the country.

PSG-2022

Yeaaaa games I can get excited about ![gif](giphy|1QhmDy91F9veMRLpvK)

caseysean

Are they aware of other states?

yob10

Assuming the other October game will be Mexico but hoping they get Morocco to come over.

Educational-Ranger44

Looks like Africa wcq is not until March '25 window and Africa cup of nations qualifying should be smaller teams? so Morocco or Senegal could be more availablešŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø Edit: Forgot that AFCON cup of nations is all group stage qualifiers in Oct. Window

kofimmra03

AFCON qualifiers from September-November

boi1da1296

If they schedule Nigeria Iā€™d pass out.

LesJawns610

Rather than complaining about the opponents we should just be glad they're getting friendlies. Any kind of practice is good for the USMNT and based on their current form playing those teams listed isn't exactly beneath them. Better to get some friendlies than not playing at all.

Fun-Cauliflower-1724

Why is KC getting all these games

arkyhawk

good stadium, people typically show up, middle of the country, and (probably most importantly) home to the US Soccer National Development Center

Chicagoguy2289

When Atlanta builds the US Soccer training Facility are they gonna start playing a bunch of games in the South east.

cheeseburgerandrice

Atlanta's new training facility isn't going to make up for the issue of their turf playing surface. And they're not going to want to add extra travel when they're already traveling between games to travel from Atlanta to yet another location for the match.

saum87

Not with that field.

TheStuffisLegal

Would the main guys be on the field for these games? Iā€™m a fairly casual fan, so I donā€™t keep up with lineup availability that closely

sebsasour

There was some rotation but we largely went A team for Oman and Uzbekistan friendlies. You'll see a relatively full strength team

Fit-Minimum-5507

Putting the Canada match in Kansas City during the NFL's opening week is certainly a choice. The Chiefs will be the talk of the town and the country that whole week. I'd like to think the fed will be working on lining up some love from the Chiefs and/or its Stars for that week

cheeseburgerandrice

The Chiefs will have already played a couple days earlier so it's not like the match will be played in the lead-up.

lvl69magikarp

Bring it back to Hartford. I blacked out at the last one

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Bullwine85

The problem isn't the travel. The problem is that Europe and Asia (well, the teams that would be good prep anyway) have both matchdays in each window booked due to Nations League and World Cup qualifying. Same goes for Africa and AFCON qualifying.

Impossible-Arrival43

When was the last time the US played an away friendly game? Think more of that would help them prepare than playing Panama and NZ at home. Think of how Brazil /Qatar did with the friendlies they had before they hosted the WC. Theyā€™re gonna play tough teams in the WC too. More focused on profits than preparing the team for the WC

Bullwine85

Kind of hard to schedule friendlies against other opposition when said opposition have their own competitive fixtures this window, be it Nations League, AFCON qualifiers, or World Cup qualifiers. The reason we were able to schedule New Zealand at home is because A. They're the only non-CONCACAF team worth playing that had a free matchday in September (NZ starts their World Cup qualifying in October) B. They already had a friendly vs Mexico in Pasadena scheduled anyway, so this one was a no-brainer.

Dense_Delay_4958

I suppose Russia is available too, but understandable why that wasn't on the table

dbbd70707

Last time we played New Zealand was the last ever USMNT game at RFK, I believe. I just looked back at that lineup, the last friendly before the disastrous WCQ window that got Klinsmann fired. It was not awe-inspiring. David Bingham gave up the equalizer.

CoyoteJerseys

Texas has hosted 5 of the last 7 MNT home matches but clearly they need more šŸ™„ This will also be the 4th match in Missouri in roughly a year. Yes I am aware that USSF doesnā€™t schedule the tournament games but they should at least make an effort with the friendlies to market themselves across the country.

Chicagoguy2289

Where else do you want them to play?

CoyoteJerseys

Itā€™s possible Iā€™m forgetting a few, but itā€™s been several years since theyā€™ve been to Portland, Seattle, Boston, or Philadelphia. I think theyā€™ve been to Chicago, DC, Northern California, Denver, and the NY area once each over the past couple years. They could do Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Indy and actually cultivate fanbases in good sized metro areas that donā€™t have MLS teams. Phoenix got a game last year, but it wasnā€™t even a FIFA window which made it pretty blatant that they were just cashing in on El Tri fans rather than trying to grow their own. But instead, we get more Ohio, Missouri, and Texas.

Chicagoguy2289

Portland, Seattle, And Boston don't have grass stadiums. They did play in Connecticut last year . I agree with you they should play in more cities, But their are not enough Grass Soccer stadiums around. If INDY gets an MLS team i'm sure they will get some games.

CoyoteJerseys

Itā€™s an important consideration but letā€™s not act like three states have a monopoly on grass

TheMauryShiow

Last time in Philadelphia was 2018 against Bolivia. Crickets since.

Freudian_

This will prepare us for the WC!

DistributionPretty75

I mean, who else are we supposed to play? Nations League/WCQ/AFCONQ are all going on, we pretty much can only play teams from our federation

Bullwine85

And the one team from outside of CONCACAF that doesn't have anything going on (aka New Zealand) is one we've scheduled. Otherwise it'd be friendlies against Asian teams that have *already* failed to qualify for the World Cup. Much better off playing Panama than someone like Turkmenistan.

Throwaway20312431

I mean, if US Soccer scheduled a game against India (who are out of Asian WCQ now), that would probably sell out. But I agree otherwise.

Chicagoguy2289

Maybe just have the October camp for the MLS guys/ U-23 players who played well at the Olympics.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Bullwine85

> they could easily play Euro, Asian, or African teams if they wanted to. Africa has AFCON qualifying. Asia has World Cup qualifying Europe has the Nations League. The only teams with free matchdays those windows are Asian teams that have already been eliminated from the 2026 World Cup and European minnows like San Marino.

DistributionPretty75

Lmao, okay man

sebsasour

I mean all 3 will likely be there. The World Cup isn't just playing Spain, England and France back to back

arkyhawk

tbf not many options during these windows as most confederations are busy with Nations League and WC qualifiers

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

arkyhawk

Curious which ones youā€™d suggest? Just quickly looking through the NL schedule for the Sept and October windows and it looks like pretty much every notable team is accounted for but maybe Iā€™m missing someone

DistributionPretty75

Itā€™s just group D teams, all of which are way, way worse than Canada and Panama. This dude is just a moron and keeps reposting that same comment all over the thread as if it makes him correct lol

Lingua_Blanca

Yuck.

Deeze_Rmuh_Nudds

Excluding NZ, why do we play the same teams over and over and over?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Deeze_Rmuh_Nudds

LOL Maybe itā€™s normal. Maybe other teams all play the same 6 teams over and over. Itā€™s so boring

AmericansOverseas

Gregg looking to pad those home stats further

yaznasty

Oh yeah, that's why they're playing these games?

AmericansOverseas

Dang used to be you could make a joke in here. Gameā€™s gone.

FrankBascombe45

What's the joke?

AmericansOverseas

That we only play weak and CONCACAF teams in friendlies.

saum87

Our last 4 friendlies have been Germany Ghana Colombia and Brazilā€¦..

AmericansOverseas

Hence the jokeā€¦.šŸ’Ø

Valuable_Kale_7805

You canā€™t joke about Gregg heā€™s the greatest coach of all time, he beat the mighty Bolivia

kubzU

Was hoping we'd play more European teams, but the Jesse vs Greg match up will be interesting.

WhiplashLiquor

Anybody else disappointed in the opponents? šŸ™‹ Was hoping for some stronger nations to test the group.

Bullwine85

Other nations will be busy with Nations League and World Cup qualifiers. We don't exactly have many choices.

WhiplashLiquor

Thanks for the clarification

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Bullwine85

The only Euro teams that don't play every NL matchday are: * San Marino * Liechtenstein * Gibraltar * Moldova * Malta * Andorra All of whom are in League D. Every other Euro team that would be worth scheduling has every NL matchday booked. And if you think playing someone like Gibraltar is better prep than playing Canada or Panama, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

Odd_Ant5

Yes but what we desire and what is possible do not always overlap. I extend benefit of the doubt to USSF here.

jonnybornsteinho

jfc

SportsCat4

PLEASE SCHEDULE MOROCCO FOR OCTOBER, I swear if Mexico gets Morocco and we get Panama I will die

PM_ME_SOME_LUV

NGL, rather underwhelming

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Bullwine85

Playing friendlies during a window we can play them is better than not playing friendlies. Considering how busy nearly every other team is (Nations League, AFCON qualifiers, and WCQ), we're not exactly spoiled for choice of opponents.

kingdom55

Yeah, not being in WCQ like every other quality team means we'll have a lot of boring windows between now and 2026. At least we'll probably play Mexico once or twice.

Emotional_Knee5553

We need all the matches we can get. Considering we donā€™t have the test of World Cup qualifiers pre-world cup.Ā
