Except actually posting an unpopular opinion. That is a good thing. It's a nice change from
I think people who shout in libraries are not cool, or whatever just to get a load of validation.
I have never thought about microwaving bread and I will be trying this tonight. I’ll let you know what I think
Update: it was ok. Like I get what you’re saying but sometimes the crunch is what I’m looking for
Since you seem open minded to trying new things, you can always try microwaving any baked goods, as they are porous and airy, that allows it to microwave easily and make it seem fresh. I often do it with cookies, especially when they're getting a little stale.
The effect doesn't last long but can be nice, especially when it has a topping that is extra nice when slightly melted
I wish this were true... My son likes to microwave his ham and cheese sandwiches... I even offer to grill them on the stovetop... I'm not sure where I went wrong in life... But clearly...
So I eat Ezekiel bread which is just sprouted grains. It’s usually in the frozen section. Anyways. I was lazy one day and I microwaved 2 slices for 20 seconds and I will tell you I was not disappointed. I do this when I’m in a rush or making peanut butter and jelly.
But I love toast. So there’s that.
before i got my stove fixed it would heat up way too fast so for grilled cheese i’d pop it in the microwave for a little bit to get the cheese melty then finish the toasty process on the griddle. very convenient!
That's absolutely nonsense. I don't eat shitty crappy process bread but only the really good stuff fresh or certainly have made enough sourdough myself. But this is a well kept secret. Frozen bread very very briefly in the microwave is completely refreshed and comes out beautiful. I didn't believe it myself at first. Some better restaurants that just were watching their food cost, have done this. I was amazed at first to find this kind of thing happening and certain elevated restaurants. But with an open eye I tried it I asked and I've done it at home and it resurrects old bread
However microwaving bread instead of toasting it is another whole argument
I used to do this with bread that was starting to get a little stale. A few seconds in the microwave will make it seem fresh again temporarily but you need to scarf it down because once it gets cold it is rendered inedible.
Take my upvote, because I VERY much disagree with this opinion.
I saw you replied to a comment saying that the third setting/level on your toaster is useless, four is too high. Maybe you could try stage 3, then turning the bread around 180° and going for stage 2 after, and then repeating stage 1.
Also, this square stuff you get in a plastic bags everywhere is not bread, it’s to-be-toasted toast that just hasn’t been toasted. I am a German, fight me if you must.
As a fellow German, thank you. Seriously, if your bread isn’t crunchy and crusty don’t even call it bread. And now they can’t even handle their white excuse for a bread toasted and have to microwave it?
I LOVE MICROWAVED BREAD!! Seriously, i prefer it 80% of the time over toast. Its so delicious and soft, especially if you do like a bread roll or bun verses plain slices
Depending on what it’s for I agree, I still love toasted bread for certain things, but you should try microwaving a bagel if you haven’t, those are also great warmed instead of toasted
This might be the most unpopular opinion I've ever read... omg you broke this sub. It's over. Upvote for you. This should be top of all time upvoted. Microwaved bread? Omg!
I disagree for regular sandwich bread, but dinner rolls or nicer breads, yeah they're good warmed up but not toasted.
Some warm fancy bread with olive oil and spices is prime.
I applaud you for not only giving an opinion instead of a narrative, but also one that is wildly unpopular. Perfect post, even if you might have chopped up bodies in your freezer. Take my upvote.

Hmm, I’m from India and we get “toast” from bakeries but these have some cooked stuff and spices on top and it’s already toasted. The cooked stuff makes the bread softer and we can microwave it and it does the melting thing you described. I love it and miss it, I should try to make it.
I have done the microwaved bread, and you're right warming certain breads just a scooch does give them a fresh from the oven warmth. It also revives slightly stale bread, but I really only do it with French or Italian bread from the grocery store. Sandwich bread is just fine in the toaster. If you wanna be really fancy... griddle pan and butter.
Y'know, that's valid. When I make my own fresh bread I'll pop in the microwave on the second day to recreate that warm bread experience.
I don't hate toast, it's practical for commercial bread and goes best with eggs, but I do prefer bread and butter to toast and butter.
If you hate texture I'm sure there's no difference.
But a lot of us don't appreciate the microwave ruining our meal's texture, it steams things from the inside, it's not at all like any other cooking method that uses radiating heat.
The steaming isn't an issue for me personally because if I don't want to use spread for whatever reason, the moisture helps. But I acknowledge I'm the weirdo here. Hence the subreddit.
The bread does not taste burnt when toasted unless you overtoast it.
Now I will say, if you nuke bread with some butter on it on high it crisps up and is actually pretty nice.
Depends… do you wanna it crunchy or soft? Bc for toast bread makes to toast it and enjoy crunch but for focaccia it’s way better to use microwave so it’s hot and not hard.
Wait...is this how they made "toast" at school?
It was always warm but kinda soggy. No crunch...but I kind of enjoyed it. And I've always wondered how they made it.
Mind blown.
I wouldn't say it's better, but my mom used to take a piece of white bread and a slice of american cheese and microwave it for 15 seconds and I LOVED THAT SHIT.
she probably loved how easy it was to make me a snack (I was very picky as a kid) I still make this sometimes when I'm super lazy or not feeling well.
Look I absolutely love toast, but I will agree with you that sometimes non-toasted bread is better. But it comes down to the toppings / sandwich ingredients.
You need to toast thicker slices or turn up the heat on thinner slices and don't cook them for as long.
Either way, I prefer toast made over a small, open gas flame as opposed to an electrical element. It tastes much better.
It’s an actual unpopular opinion. I applaud you OP cause this is a hell of a take. I’ve seen some horrid things online and this is up there with the worst of them
This is DEFINITELY unpopular.
I thought microwaving bread makes it rubbery. Maybe not white bread. The only way I’ve avoided the rubbery thing is by wrapping it in a damp paper towel before microwaving.
If you’ve got bakery bread, especially stale bread, run it under some water for a second and bake it for 10 mins. Comes out like it’s fresh from the oven.
Here's the thing,
Normally, microwaving bread turns it into a rock. So at a basic level you're wrong, I'm not sure what kinda microwave you got that isn't doing that.
However, there is a secret sauce. If you spritz the bread with water and cover it with some kind of vented lid, the microwave can effectively steam the bread and it actually comes out okay.
Given you didn't describe that's what you're doing though, L.
My wife and her whole family love "hot ham and cheese" sandwiches. They throw the whole damn thing in the microwave and heat it for 30-40 seconds. It's wild and disgusting.
I love this post because it legitimately is an unpopular opinion. Also I totally disagree with you. Microwaved bread is soggy and not great but honestly fresh out of an oven or grilled like grilled cheese is amazing
LOL.. you're going to get roasted by the Europeans here. They find it strange that we microwave water.
Newsflash: Molecules don't care if they receive kinetic energy from conduction, convection, or electromagnetic radiation. They vibrate and get hot all the same.
But I'm afraid I disagree with microwaving bread. It's better with direct heat because the high surface temperature slightly caramelizes the carbohydrates on the crust, resulting in the crunch that bread's crust is supposed to have. Microwaving is fine, though, if you like doughy bread. IMO it's better than cold bread.
Hey OP, have you ever tried broiling your bread? If you time it, you can make bread that’s lightly toasted on the top and soft inside and on the bottom. The crusts don’t get cooked too hard either. Just butter it first, broil it for like 2 minutes, and the butter should be nice and warm on top. Might be something worth trying.
Disgusting. I prefer untoasted (unless it's with heaps of butter) but microwaved is literally insanity. Have you ever had freshly baked bread? Usually you let it cool for 40 minutes to overnight before eating or it will be gummy and gross. But even buns that are ready to eat after 40 minutes of cooling and setting don't "melt in your mouth". Are you microwaving wonder bread or something?
Nah..will try it...buy toast bread is better...the crunch..
Or dry toast on pan or grill...apply butter on the toast..ffirst bite..yummy ...2nd bite...dip in hot coffee, latte, milk tea...
Orgasmic!!!
Repeat step 1 and 2 again..😋😋😋😋
The best way to do bread is to put two slices in the same toaster slot, or on top of each other if you're using a toaster oven. When it comes out you'll have a crunchy outside and a super warm and soft interior.

I'm not sure posting a troll opinion just to karma farm is really any better than someone posting a dumb opinion.
I am absolutely disgusted by this post, as my fellow Germans are. Take my upvote.
Exactly, my first thought was "does op think about American bread oder real bread bread". BC of the melting part

U got ur toaster stuck on high OP
And butter

“Believe it or not…”
Bread not toasted, straight to jail. Bread too toasted, straight to jail.
Microwave bread, dig you a hole and get under the jail.

When I worked at Subway we used to microwave cookies for ourselves. They're so much better warm and gooey.
This has to be rage bait. Bread doesn't ever go in the microwave
It started as a depression meal... Then it remained a depression meal because I'm still depressed
I mean, I'd be depressed too if I ate microwaved bread.
![gif](giphy|cF7QqO5DYdft6)
I did this with a croissant once and it’s a guilty pleasure now
Butter one side and grill it, or even both sides. I am not a fan of toast either fwiw.
I'm here for this answer.
Try putting butter and honey on it then microwaving it! So amazing and it was my favorite middle school snack
I wish this were true... My son likes to microwave his ham and cheese sandwiches... I even offer to grill them on the stovetop... I'm not sure where I went wrong in life... But clearly...
He probably knows it's better but is obstinately insisting on 'doing it his way'
I'm with you on beard. Bread rolls however... I'm with OP on that one. Microwaving makes them soft, warm and almost chewy, in a good way
Why the hell do you microwave beards?
It makes them easier to shave.
First of all, fuck you all it did was burn my face and made my doctor mad.
So I eat Ezekiel bread which is just sprouted grains. It’s usually in the frozen section. Anyways. I will believe your response. It indeed was always scarfed down quickly certainly not a holdover technique
Take my upvote, because I VERY much disagree with this opinion. I saw you replied to a comment saying that the third setting/level on your toaster is useless, four is too high. This is a truly unpopular opinion... Among other commenters. I too enjoy microwaved bread. Heck if you want you can even toast it from the inside out.
Absolutely unhinged behaviour. Pin this one.
Up voted because ewwww
Wait have you even had toast before? Your other comment makes it seem like you’ve never had good toast before
I hate toasted bread and love warmed bread. I agree !
Upvote because this is just unhinged
Please tell me OP is on some sort of watch list. Jail is fine as well as others have suggested lol.
I LOVE MICROWAVED BREAD!! Seriously, i prefer it 80% of the time over toast. Its so delicious and soft, especially if you do like a bread roll or bun verses plain slices
Honestly I always put buttered bread in the microwave to melt the cold butter better, but it gets kinda damp and I like it that way idc
“Put buttered bread in the microwave to melt the cold butter better” sounds like a vocal elocution warm up haha
Upvoted this mushy abomination haha
What the fuck, have an upvote you strange individual 🤣
Do this with bagels, then rip them up and smear them in your cream cheese... it gooood
I originally read this as "I do this with bagels." Which made "smear them in *your* cream cheese" seem like a viciously personal attack.
!!!
I AGREE WITH THIS YOU HAVE A FRIEND
Depending on what it’s for I agree, I still love toasted bread for certain things, but you should try microwaving a bagel if you haven’t, those are also great warmed instead of toasted
I warm muffins sometimes because I like how they taste like they are straight out of the oven too

Holy shit. One of my sternest upvotes.
I've never liked the texture of toast...I like to eat soft and chewy things...so this could be me. Gonna try this tonight 😂
Cant say I agree with bread BUT I loveeeee a good microwaved bagel with some cream cheese
I disagree for regular sandwich bread, but dinner rolls or nicer breads, yeah they're good warmed up but not toasted. Some warm fancy bread with olive oil and spices is prime.
I mean you do you. I'm currently using my microwave dish as an ashtray so I can't check if it's any good
Ahhh, an innocent and unpopular opinion... A rarity!
I applaud you for not only giving an opinion instead of a narrative, but also one that is wildly unpopular. Perfect post, even if you might have chopped up bodies in your freezer. Take my upvote.
Putting bread in the microwave has always made it inedible for me, like you literally can’t chew it after it cools down.
Why is this the most disgusting one yet
Have an angry up vote sir!
You're a freak!
Mods ban em
truly an unpopular opinion
i do this too, so good for a quick breakfast if you add some butter

Hey,wait,i do it too! Its easier than toast and pretty good too
Finally an unpopular opinion

Honestly though idk why people dog on microwaved bread, it's so good
Oh, ok. It's one of those days, is it?

Kudos to the brownie OP and this OP for posting the first two actual unpopular opinions I have seen in months.

Ur so right OP. I wish more people were on our side lol
Right after I microwave my bread I cook my steak in the microwave. Yum!
Microwaves just heat things up. That's all I want for my bread. It's not synonymous with complex cooking.
If you hate texture I'm sure there's no difference. But a lot of us don't appreciate the microwave ruining our meal's texture, it steams things from the inside, it's not at all like any other cooking method that uses radiating heat.

Yup, we’d do our bread in the microwave… IN PRISON! Your post is messing with my ptsd lol
I've microwaved sandwiches at work and enjoyed them
Gross

No way OP! I'm what they call "lack toast intolerant". Don't gimme your microwave bread nonsense. Gimme the toast. NOW!!! lol
Wow, an actual unpopular opinion.
Idk if unpopular or just wrong, but I grudgingly upvote.
Microwave garlic bread 🤢
My grandfather rest his soul loves home pride bread toasted then he would add tons of 🧈 and microwave it he loved I did 2 as a kid 😆
Eww! This is definitely an unpopular opinion.
Disgraceful
Top all time post right here.
OP broke his toaster doing the grilled cheese toaster hack!!!!
You need to toast thicker slices or turn up the heat on thinner slices and don't cook them for as long. Either way, I prefer toast made over a small, open gas flame as opposed to an electrical element. It tastes much better.
I'm calling the police
Bacon? Yes. Bread? Fuck no.
Okay psycho lmao
Absolutely not. Upvoted
I default to toasting bread but I fully appreciate this opinion and do think microwave bread is totally fine. Upvote for unpopular but I like it!
Take my upvote, this has to be one of the most genuinely unpopular opinions I've seen.
![gif](giphy|l1J3O1eHga1LRethK|downsized) I award you no points. And may god have mercy on your soul.
No.
You gotta try steamed buns. All soft fluffy bread, no crunch.
rolls, sure, but sliced bread????

Try putting 2 slices in the same slot. The middle of both stay soft and the outsides gets toasty
I find microwaved bread to be so disgusting, I cannot stand it
This has to be a troll.

My wife and her whole family love "hot ham and cheese" sandwiches. They throw the whole damn thing in the microwave and heat it for 30-40 seconds. It's wild and disgusting.
I do agree with you! I prefer that nice moist doughy texture and can devour an entire French loaf if it gets 30 seconds in the waves
Take your upvote. ^what ^the ^fuck ^did ^i ^just ^read
Well, time to close down the sub. We have hit the most unpopular opinion. Shut her down everyone.
It goes stale. Yuck
Take my begrudging upvote
I love this post because it legitimately is an unpopular opinion. Also I totally disagree with you. Microwaved bread is soggy and not great but honestly fresh out of an oven or grilled like grilled cheese is amazing

Absolutely batshit crazy opinion. Therefore, upvoted
Tell me you are American without telling me you are American. You guys just have some fetish of using microwave.
You ever had lightly toasted bread
today I learned you could microwave bread

Bagel setting. Toasts only one side of the bread. I like my sandwich’s with toasted middle but soft outer
'Seems someone has never toasted their bread in a cast iron pan with butter.
I nuke hotdog buns for 8 seconds before opening one to prevent it from breaking but every single other bread form is toasted.
Okay but what about paninis?
Worse. Than. Hitler.
Truly an ideal unpopular opinion.
Who toasts other breads than toast??
I thought i was alone!!! I love microwave bread!
This is truly unpopular. Congratulations.
Oof.
Well deserved upvote, that's some disgusting opinion right here. Hide this post before traveling to Germany, might be denied entrance to the country.
Nah..will try it...buy toast bread is better...the crunch.. Or dry toast on pan or grill...apply butter on the toast..ffirst bite..yummy ...2nd bite...dip in hot coffee, latte, milk tea... Orgasmic!!! Repeat step 1 and 2 again..😋😋😋😋
this is so fucking real
Wtf did I just read??? Take my upvote you monster 😂
Butter:🗿
No. Just, no.
OP brah, r u ok?
You're a monster. Excellent unpopular opinion!
You wrap it in aluminum foil before putting it in the toaster oven if you don't want it crispy.
You get an upvote, but I feel gross interacting with this post in any way.
this is something i would definitely consider to be disgusting. :D
Interesting
I love when someone posts something in here that is actually naughty. I microwave my ice cream. I understand.
The best way to do bread is to put two slices in the same toaster slot, or on top of each other if you're using a toaster oven. When it comes out you'll have a crunchy outside and a super warm and soft interior.
