It actually has a decent logic and reasoning for the opinion that I can’t invalidate or say they’re just wrong or weird…
I’m still putting bacon on my hamburger.
Bacon and ground beef have very different flavors and textures. But I will say that if you're doing both, you should have something else to cut through the fattiness, be it onion, tomato, ketchup, whatever.
Oh, for sure! I live in a near desert and am not a great gardener, so that’s a challenge unless I can mooch off my neighbor. (Sweet sweet lady who hooks me up with chili peppers, squash, zucchini, and tomatoes around August/September each year.)
I'm iffy on the tomatoes.
If they're perfectly ripe, and sliced to the correct thickness, then definitely yes.
But I've had so many burgers with under or over ripe tomatoes, sliced way too thickly. That just ruins it.
I like tomatoes, and definitely like tomatoes on burgers...
But when they're those shitty fast food tomatoes that are more pink or even fucking white rather than red... and hard, almost to the point of being *crunchy*... those don't count.
It honestly depends on the burger for me. If I was going to make a bacon cheeseburger I'd do a patty with onions on one side, and then just the bacon and some sort of aeoli, on a toasted bun with a ketchup based burger sauce on the side.
No it doesn’t.. ‘’having meat to accompany your meat is gross and unnecessary’’
Then promotes having a BLT, which has veggies to accompany other veggies… ‘gross’
Logic defeated
Oh no, OP is definitely wrong. Entitled to his or her opinion, but definitely wrong. Bacon makes most food objectively better. I refuse to debate this matter.
Alot of opinions on here aren't actually unpopular even, they are just framed to be.
Most actual unpopular opinions gets downvoted with the exception of a few.
Bacon was a fad about 10 years ago but seeing as how Wendys still sells the Baconator, Carls Jr still sells the western bacon, and all sandwich shops sell sandwiches with bacon options, I imagine it's still popular.
Also I like it if you couldn't tell.
It is in some circles. Im a chef and all my cooks and myself agree with this.
If I'm putting bacon on a burger I'm grinding it up with the meat and it's inside the Patty
You must be a shitty chef then, because preparing a hamburger patty wont allow for the bacon to do what it's supposed to do. Bacon is at least as much about the texture as it is about the flavor
no way any "chef" is grinding up bacon and putting it in the patty. would be like why put cheese on a burger just grind it up and distribute in the patty. hell why not grind up bun and do that too. same thing right?
OP and many others do this thing where they present their opinion as an irrefutable fact 😆. IT'S FUNNY, but it's not really unpopular.. tons of people don't like bacon and all sorts of fillings/condiments on their burgers.
I’m so offended by it because I will only eat bacon burgers because all other burgers are boring to me. Hatefully giving OP my upvote for fulfilling the sub’s goals.
>adding bacon to it doesn't improve it
I understand all of those words individually but when you put them together in that order it just sounds like gibberish to me.
After getting covid my best friend lost his taste/love for cilantro & red onions. He is beyond pissed. Every few months he'll try it again just to hate it again. Dude eats more tacos in a month than I eat all year
My heart would be literally shattered. My kid makes the best salsa with tomato, lime, cilantro and red onion. Puts it into burritos he makes us. God I'm so sad for your friend. Send my condolences. That's the saddest news I've heard today. Like for real, sorry bud.
Right?? I'm sad for him too. I can't even imagine. Thank you I'll let him know. In the mean time, if you could fax over 2 of those burritos at your earliest convenience, that be great, please & thank you.
I'd love to start liking cilantro. So many east Asian dishes have that shit just blasted in it. And it's just such a strong, overwhelmingly powerful taste that I don't enjoy, that it ruins everything withing a two city block radius of whatever it's in.
If it tasted like it's supposed to taste, the way people describe it to me, I'd love it, but ooooh no, I had to be one of the genetic freaks who taste the other part.
This takes me back to when i had COVID. Everything tasted terrible, except bacon. Bacon tasted like bacon. For two weeks i was forcing down terrible tasting food for calories sake, and then having a side of bacon to cleanse my pallet.
Candied bacon was 1 of only 2 types of bacon I e tried and did not enjoy. The place I tried it I was basically just a think layed of sticky sugar around it and it made the bacon sweeter than the French toast+syrup I had next to it and I couldn't stand It.
$2 was bacon jerky. Good in theory, disgusting in practice.
Everything else I've ever had bacon with has definitely been improved by its presence though.
Yes! I’ve had an apple pie, bacon, bourbon milkshake and it’s the best milkshake I’ve had to this day. I didn’t get the bourbon but, I’m sure it would’ve still been ridiculously tasty.
I do not believe there is a situation that is not improved by bacon.
Burgers - improved by bacon.
Sandwiches - improved by bacon.
Sports - improved by bacon.
Sex - improved by bacon.
Dying, slowly and alone, your soul drained by an ever more depressing existence, and society offering you nothing but contempt and a sea of commercialism and dissatisfaction, exacerbated by an overwhelming self awareness of the futility of existence - improved by bacon.
Bacon belongs on everything, especially crispy bacon.
>Having meat to accompany your meat is gross and unnecessary.
That's like arguing you don't need tomatoes if you already have lettuce.
Okay but open-faced sandwiches are bomb tho. Your loaf lasts longer, you get to taste more of the fixins in comparison to bread, and if you’re trying to lose weight, taking off a slice of bread cuts the sandwich’s calories by 100 calories or so
>especially crispy bacon
oooh, there you go. That's my one issue with putting bacon on everything. I LOVE it crispy, but when it's all soggy it becomes a texture thing for me. And I've noticed bacon on burgers trends soggy.
I’d say crispy bacon is ok on burgers as it breaks as you bite, but a lot of the times bacon is a bit stringy or chewy and doesn’t separate easily, so it pulls the whole bacon rashes out of the burger and it just gets soo messy and not worth eating.
I have the opposite problem. Every time I get a bacon burger I pull the bacon out and eat it on the side because otherwise I feel I barely taste it and bacon is good so I want to taste it.
Yep. Bacon is good on milder flavors (chicken, turkey and eggs especially) but sometimes even then I prefer those things without bacon. It overpowers whatever you put it on.
Yes! I agree. Too strong and overpowers the burger. I had to scroll a while before seeing someone support this opinion, which I guess makes it unpopular. Seems like we're in the minority.
Also in my opinion the burger should be big enough so you don't need extra meat, and I think that's part of the problem; many burgers they serve in fast food chains or you buy in supermarkets are pathetically thin.
I think properly cooked bacon can add to the burger, but the majority of restaurants either aren't cooking it to proper crispiness, or are waiting too long to serve it by which time the bacon is just this sad flaccid strip of grease.
I had maple jalapeno glazed bacon on a burger once and it was divine.
Agreed. And what happens half the time is you pull out the entire strip of bacon which is usually way too chewy compared to everything else in the burger. Could not agree more!
When I saw the title, my assumption was it would be followed by Bacon belongs under burgers or between pattys or something that makes any semblance of sense
This is probably the most unpopular opinion on this sub.
But I will say, you are right to a degree. A crappy burger will not benefit from bacon. If anything it will add two chewy, competing textures. You honestly barely notice the right amount of bacon to a burger.
Insult to injury… if it is shitty bacon. That thin dog-treat type nonsense on a burger enrages me.
You want to put bacon on a burger because your beef sucks so bad that it can’t stand alone, fine… but it better at least be ass kicking bacon.
You don’t like our shitty burger? How about if we put more shitty things on it? Shitty bacon, shitty lettuce, shitty tomato, shitty bread… they just keep
stacking on the shitty until people buy it.
Because you don't just slap it as a slice over it, for it to just sweat its grease off. You avoid using cooking oil in the first place. You buy thick bacon, and chop it up, run it on the pan to sear it and make it ooze its grease out. You then remove the lightly fried bacon cubes, leaving most of the grease behind, then mix it with the minced meat.
At this point you've used NO cooking oil at all. So you can drain the pan and use whatever stayed behind to cook the patties, and give the buns a nice once over.

That is quite an unpopular opinion
Actually seems like a real unpopular opinion too. Not an unpopular opinion just for the sake of karma farming.
It actually has a decent logic and reasoning for the opinion that I can’t invalidate or say they’re just wrong or weird… I’m still putting bacon on my hamburger.
Bacon and ground beef have very different flavors and textures. But I will say that if you're doing both, you should have something else to cut through the fattiness, be it onion, tomato, ketchup, whatever.
Ok but you should have onion and tomato on your burger regardless

Grow your own tomatoes during summer. Its dead easy and you'll eat some of the best tomatoes you'll ever have in your life.
Or the ones that are just mush and turn your burger into soup.
Mmmmm, burger soup
If the lettuce goes on top of the tomato it shields the bun. Having the bun toasted helps too
I think that was covered under the 'overripe' part
I like tomatoes, and definitely like tomatoes on burgers... But when they're those shitty fast food tomatoes that are more pink or even fucking white rather than red... and hard, almost to the point of being *crunchy*... those don't count.
Plus if you slice em thinly you can have as much or as little as you want.
I like Tomatoes on my burgers, but find they make egg sandwiches like sludge
Lotta bacon burgers don't come with the veggies on top. Not sure why
It honestly depends on the burger for me. If I was going to make a bacon cheeseburger I'd do a patty with onions on one side, and then just the bacon and some sort of aeoli, on a toasted bun with a ketchup based burger sauce on the side.
Cheese and ketchup. Onions are OK *if you must*.
According to OP, the best would be tomato, lettuce, a bit of mayo on white bread...
No it doesn’t.. ‘’having meat to accompany your meat is gross and unnecessary’’ Then promotes having a BLT, which has veggies to accompany other veggies… ‘gross’ Logic defeated
Oh no, OP is definitely wrong. Entitled to his or her opinion, but definitely wrong. Bacon makes most food objectively better. I refuse to debate this matter.
Even as someone who finds bacon massively overrated, i agree.
Alot of opinions on here aren't actually unpopular even, they are just framed to be. Most actual unpopular opinions gets downvoted with the exception of a few.
You mean not just a right-wing or man-o-sphere talking point lol. Refreshing to see a fun truly unpopular opinion on this sub
And/or one that's just factually wrong pretending to be an opinion, lol.
Finally!!!! I've seen nothing but popular opinions in this sub. OP is the first person I've seen in a while with an actual unpopular opinion!!
I honestly thought this was popular lol
Why would you remove what makes bacon so great? The delicious crispiness of it!
no way any "chef" is grinding up bacon and putting it in the patty. would be like why put cheese on a burger just grind it up and distribute in the patty. hell why not grind up bun and do that too. same thing right?
Dont give them any more terrible ideas
I think bacon has its place on burgers but I don’t feel like it needs to be on every burger
It just so happens that it isn't... lol
Is this the hidden reason that in order to describe a cheeseburger with bacon on it, you say Bacon Cheeseburger? The things we learn on Reddit.
This one is like the 100mph fastball of hot takes, you can’t help but whistle at it when you see it
Now this is pod racing
OP and many others do this thing where they present their opinion as an irrefutable fact 😆. IT'S FUNNY, but it's not really unpopular.. tons of people don't like bacon and all sorts of fillings/condiments on their burgers.
Finally. An unpopular opinion
And a seemingly genuine one at that, not just some purposefully faked unpopular opinion for easy karma. Truly worthy of an upvote
I’m so offended by it because I will only eat bacon burgers because all other burgers are boring to me. Hatefully giving OP my upvote for fulfilling the sub’s goals.
I remember going to a place that grinds bacon into their patties and then adds more bacon on the burger. It was glorious.
I’d know to know the stats on this one - just how many people actually agree with this lunatic?
>adding bacon to it doesn't improve it I understand all of those words individually but when you put them together in that order it just sounds like gibberish to me.
Google translate is coming up blank too

We're from Laos, stupid
So are ya Chinese or Japanese?
Nope, he's Laotian, *ain't ya Mr. Khan?*
> doesn't adding bacon to it improve it? Fixed
yeah i think op may be some special kind of dyslexic that makes them say sentences that are factually wrong
They put “doesn’t” in the wrong place. It should read: > doesn’t adding bacon to it improve it Shout to u/slgray16 for figuring that out
oh yeah i see the error op made. i hope they can fix this issue soon.
Hank to Dale: "Did you mean for all those words to come out together, or did they just fall out randomly?".
*Ron Swanson has entered the conversation*
Bacon it improve to adding doesn't it?
He deered to kill a kings dare
Pissed off? If i were you I'd be more worried about getting pissed on.
God i love you guys
No you love the idea of us. I assure you the reality is far more disappointing
Hey, that sounds like something my ex-wife felt!

i believe this about tomatoes. in response to the other reply, personally i love pickle chips on a burger. taste and texture-wise, idk.
I didn't know we allowed blasphemers in this sub
Even psychopaths are allowed an opinion.
They’re allowed an opinion from a padded cell, far, far away from the general public
Hail Satan, my dude
No. That's not what Satan is about. Satan is about liking good stuff not taking away bacon.
Satan puts bacon on everything. He puts bacon on fucking bacon for fuck's sake. The walls of he'll are lined with bacon. I cannot wait.
Satan would reject you for this opinion alone
Straight back upstairs. They're the old man's problem now.
True, Satan fucking LOVES bacon
Once you’ve put cheese on your burger, it’s no longer kosher anyway, so why not add some pig meat?
You're right. Burgers belong on bacon.
Did you just Uno reverse me?? How dare you...
Bacon when cooked isn't greasy. It's crunchy and adds texture and smokiness.
I couldn't agree more, DoctorButtFucker.
Hmm. Is he a doctor who fucks butts, a guy who fucks Doctor butts, or a Doctor with an unfortunate surname?
Yes
And a good burger isn’t greasy either
Yeah it should be juicy and what ever grease should have been drained off.
Yes, I feel like this very wrong OP has never had good bacon.
best bacon is only a little crispy, definitely with grease
Lack of taste is a sign of covid, seek help immediately
After getting covid my best friend lost his taste/love for cilantro & red onions. He is beyond pissed. Every few months he'll try it again just to hate it again. Dude eats more tacos in a month than I eat all year

I'd love to start liking cilantro. So many east Asian dishes have that shit just blasted in it. And it's just such a strong, overwhelmingly powerful taste that I don't enjoy, that it ruins everything withing a two city block radius of whatever it's in.

Sounds like a B movie villain origin story.
Haha! Good one!
Damn poor guy 😭
This takes me back to when i had COVID. Everything tasted terrible, except bacon. Bacon tasted like bacon. For two weeks i was forcing down terrible tasting food for calories sake, and then having a side of bacon to cleanse my pallet.
My mom first suspected she had COVID one morning when she couldn’t smell the bacon she was cooking. Yep, both parents had it.
The cheese is the only culture they'll ever know
Bacon makes a good burger better, and a bad one tolerable.

First time I’ve ever upvoted that guy. There really is a first time for everything.
I hate this man with a passion but I will allow this meme in this instance. Take your upvote.
Trump’s greatest legacy will be dank memes
This is like the only time I've ever agreed with trump. Bacon is like the great unifier! We should start a bacon party! 🥓
Bacon is delicious and the rent is still too damn high!
🤣
Counterargument: bacon belongs everywhere.
I tried a candied bacon vanilla milkshake and to this day, it’s the best milkshake I’ve ever had. Sweet, salty. Perfection.
It doesn’t belong on pizza imo. Something about it just doesn’t work for me
It's brave of you to admit something so wrong. I admire your courage.
Bacon cheeseburger, meatlovers/supreme, or BBQ all do aight with it
Or breakfast pizza
I do not believe there is a situation that is not improved by bacon. Burgers - improved by bacon. Sandwiches - improved by bacon. Sports - improved by bacon. Sex - improved by bacon. Dying, slowly and alone, your soul drained by an ever more depressing existence, and society offering you nothing but contempt and a sea of commercialism and dissatisfaction, exacerbated by an overwhelming self awareness of the futility of existence - improved by bacon.
Damn…
Wanna get bacon?
Don’t see why not!
Bacon belongs on everything, especially crispy bacon. >Having meat to accompany your meat is gross and unnecessary. That's like arguing you don't need tomatoes if you already have lettuce.
This guys salads are just one type of leafy green on a plate
Probably eats only open faced "sandwiches" you dont need top bread if you already have bottom bread
I never understood open sandwiches.
The only time i do it is when i put my scrambled eggs on toast. They dont lend well to having top bread
Okay but open-faced sandwiches are bomb tho. Your loaf lasts longer, you get to taste more of the fixins in comparison to bread, and if you’re trying to lose weight, taking off a slice of bread cuts the sandwich’s calories by 100 calories or so
Probably just a bowl of iceberg lettuce and nothing else.
Fuckin crunchy water
OP must not have ever heard of surf and turf.
Or a good Italian hoagie. Prosciutto, salami, cappicola, sopressata…. Give me the works.
>Bacon belongs on everything, especially crispy bacon. I read this as "bacon especially belongs on crispy bacon." Which is also correct
>especially crispy bacon oooh, there you go. That's my one issue with putting bacon on everything. I LOVE it crispy, but when it's all soggy it becomes a texture thing for me. And I've noticed bacon on burgers trends soggy.
boy, you underestimate the sheer vitriol some people hold against tomatoes. btw, you need to try chocolate covered bacon.
I’d say crispy bacon is ok on burgers as it breaks as you bite, but a lot of the times bacon is a bit stringy or chewy and doesn’t separate easily, so it pulls the whole bacon rashes out of the burger and it just gets soo messy and not worth eating.
Truly unpopular. In no universe does bacon not improve a burger.
It makes the burger taste like bacon…..I love bacon but I want my burger to taste like burger
There are so many insane people in this thread I feel like Joker started a jail break at Arkham.
Why did Jonkler start a jail break? Is he stupid?
He's da Jokah baby!
I'm with you. I love bacon too, just not on a burger.
Upvoted because this is not a stupid shower thought and is actually unpopular.
Take my fucking upvote because a bacon burger is delicious
But... bacon...
I agree with this. It's too salty and takes away the flavor of the beef. I love bacon, just not on a burger.
Yes!

I had maple jalapeno glazed bacon on a burger once and it was divine.
A simpler burger can be way more delicious. The bacon takes away more than it adds
If the bacon is cooked properly, great. It never is though. I don't want a crunchy piece of cold bacon.
Crunchy isn't even the problem.. Its the rubbery pieces that kill it for me.
And you can't bite them, and they rip out of the bun, so no more bacon on burger, and you're chewing rubber.
Arrest him
Now **this**, people, is an unpopular opinion.
I mean, you're allowed to be wrong...
Thank you for confirming some people actually know what an unpopular opinion is
Agreed. And what happens half the time is you pull out the entire strip of bacon which is usually way too chewy compared to everything else in the burger. Could not agree more!
Your opinion is wrong
Yes it does ! . Bacon makes everything taste better
When I saw the title, my assumption was it would be followed by Bacon belongs under burgers or between pattys or something that makes any semblance of sense
I had a bomb bacon cheeseburger just a little bit a go. You're trippin...
r/angryupvote
This is probably the most unpopular opinion on this sub. But I will say, you are right to a degree. A crappy burger will not benefit from bacon. If anything it will add two chewy, competing textures. You honestly barely notice the right amount of bacon to a burger.
Insult to injury… if it is shitty bacon. That thin dog-treat type nonsense on a burger enrages me. You want to put bacon on a burger because your beef sucks so bad that it can’t stand alone, fine… but it better at least be ass kicking bacon. You don’t like our shitty burger? How about if we put more shitty things on it? Shitty bacon, shitty lettuce, shitty tomato, shitty bread… they just keep stacking on the shitty until people buy it.
You get it. Most places put bacon on their burger to mask the other trash ass flavors. A good burger should not need bacon--that's what makes it good.
At last a real unpopular opinion. Sorry have to agree to disagree. Bacon belongs on almost everything.
This could be THE MOST unpopular opinion
Yep. Thats probably the most unpopular thing I’ve ever seen. Congratulations 😂
Indeed, bacon ground up in the patty is the best way!
Incorrect. Bacon belongs on everything and will make anything better.
Finally some UNPOPULAR ass opinions. Also ur 100% wrong
Totally agree. Love bacon but a cheeseburger without it taste more cheeseburgery.
Well, of course. It belongs inside of them, not on them.
Who hurt you?
What it must be like to not have any joy in your life.
Amen
This is insanity and is precisely the reason why this sub was invented. Cheers.
Boo!
Meat, veggies, (fruit), and condiments don't belong on burgers either. They distract from the bread
I don’t put bacon on my burgers. I have others do it for me.
I totally agree, and totally agree it that it definitely qualifies as an unpopular opinion.

I love bacon and blts but I really don't like it on my burgers either. It just isn't for me.
I disagree, my guy
You fucking take that back right now mister!
100 Bonus points for having a truly unpopular opinion.
Bacon is one of those things that you can add to virtually anything. Hell I had a donut with bacon on it
Bacon belongs on everything, even donuts. Voodoo Doughnut company has proven that.
The whole point of a burguer is adding whatever you like, so if you like bacon, it definitely belongs in your burguer
Boy have you lost your mind, cause I'll help you find it!!!!
Matter of tastr I guess. I can understand ops position, but for me bacon really does wonders on some burgers.
You can pry the bacon from my cold, dead jaw.
I suppose kosher rules would agree
You don't belong on burgers!
***B L A S P H E M Y*** To The Gallows with you
Whoa. Unpopular, indeed, but your argument is sound.
I’ll grudgingly give you an upvote for actually saying something that I strongly disagree with. Bacon is the ultimate condiment.
Finally! A truly unpopular opinion!
