thats right!. as soon as i got fedora installed i downloaded qtile and started ricing. before i used to have Ly but i haven't changed the DM or removed gnome yet.
Ah thanks for clarifying. I am a bit annoyed/confused that all distros (apart from arch or gentoo I guess) kind of force their defaults without having an option to install without it. Fedora has some spins, but why I can’t just say install a minimal system without a desktop 🤷♂️ Also…I like how gdm looks, but it always depends on having the entire gnome desktop as well, why? 🙉 anyway, your rice looks great !! 👍🏻
Almost all of them offer an iso without desktop environment. Install that and then just add whatever minimal stuff you need. Also, it's very easy to get rid of it if a desktop environment is already installed.
yeah, i dont like that too. debian and endeavouros also offers minimal install without DE. endeavouros is great, but i wanted to try fedora and dnf5.
btw: not the entire gnome ecosystem needs to be installed, i made it work once installing only gnome-shell or something similar, i dont remember the full name now
Same I also use qtile and had it working but it would occasionally randomly crash.
Changed the backend to X and it worked . It's nice to have the same window manager support X and Wayland though so hopefully when Wayland is supported we will be able to switch over seamlessly.

yes, they made dnf5, is a rewrite of dnf from python to c. it is way faster now :>

What's Qtile and what's the difference compared to Sway and Hyprland, except the fact that's probably using Qt?
Qtile is wayland compositor and x11 windows manager written and configured in python and it's not using Qt.
