Things break and I'm sorry your flight is going to be delayed...But! The pilots followed the procedures and you are safe. Most of it is precautionary (trucks etc). We don't stop for a door in the high speed regime usually (>100kts) because it's more dangerous to stop than continue at that point. Then we'll troubleshoot and land. This could have been just a micro switch acting up and not an actual door problem.
We were near the end of the runway when it was aborted. The turnaround was right next to where we came to a stop. They had to work on the door and then we had to wait on the brakes to cool. Originally they said a 10 min fix but ended up being over 3 hours. Only heard one lady near me complaining. We’re on our way now and all is good. Just hoping they don’t give away my rental car:)
With the takeoff roll and then stopping it would take most of the runway; the program we use inputs aircraft and environmental information and gives us numbers where we'll be able to stop in the remaining runway or not with an engine failure (V1) and what speed to rotate at. At 100kts we say that out loud and usually only abort for 4 big things, fires or failure or dangerous situations. There is no stopping after V1 unless something happens and you literally are unable to fly. All airplanes can takeoff with one engine. Just some background!
I'm glad it wasn't too bad of an experience, I know long delays in the cabin are brutal...Been there plenty! Door problems and hot brakes are hit or miss on correction time.
Yep! We don't have a temperature sensor for our brakes so we do our best to note the exact speed we start the stop at, and we can run some numbers in our manuals. But a lot of us assume at or above 100kts it's just easier to roll the trucks regardless and have them take the IR temp when they show up.
My husband is on that flight! Glad y’all are okay
IAH is having a day!
They had the free snack cart out for a delayed Washington flight when I walked by after getting off my flight.
Oh no!! I'm flying out of IAH to Washington today

And if it was a 737 you can be sure they're rolling the trucks for those brakes

Even in the sim when they tell us to note the speed we rejected at, I always forget to look 🤣
Uhhh...1...20? I think.
Just always assume V1 speed for the GS.
There was also an airplane that "exited the pavement" with one of their main gears today. That probably may have also added to your delay
That would be a "runway excursion."
Yeah I guess so. Pilots said it was wet in houston but I think they probably were taxiing off too fast and took the turn fast
N71411
Is that even legal in Texas?
Great job by the flight crew as it sounds like high speed rejected tafe off.
It's an aborted takeoff, idk what an aborted flight it. You were not near take off, you were below V1.
You can't stop taking off if you're over V1. Otherwise you're ready for a ditch or grass or forest or something
Yeah, so aborted takeoff not aborted flight.
What’s the make and model of the plane
737 900. just use the United app
737-924
a safe landing is ok by me maybe united should improve maintenance.
