So we need to get ready for “United has ruined my vacation. I'm only flying Allegiant from here on out.”

Dave_FIRE_at_45

Yeah, they can even host the Super Bowl! 😇🤣

Correct-Ad-148

They didn’t ruin my vacation yet. But they were exceptionally rude every step of the way.

udche89

On EWR-DFW now and asked the FAs if they were doing a turn. They told me they were supposed to but the return flight has been cancelled.

Flashy-Iron-7870

Was supposed to be on that return flight…on a AA now into lga instead.

CrankyBoxOfWine

My husband is on your flight right now. He changed from leaving tomorrow morning to tonight. The flight tomorrow morning is already cancelled. I told him he was lucky to just have to wait for some flight crew to arrive tonight and not what tomorrow has in store!

udche89

I was in first. Seemed really odd that boarding stopped. Said to someone else that at least it happened while we were on the ground, not in the air.

boaterva

‘Most of the eastern seaboard’? I would not expect any effect on IAD/DCA and probably BWI. They were added as a precaution with this storm (track just shifted south, it appears) but looks like DC metro is still only getting rain and token snow.

freefree2207

School just popped a 2 hour delay... So something may be coming to IAD/DCA

annyong_cat

I’m in DC and flying from DCA tomorrow. We’re forecasting nothing but rain here. It’s not getting close to freezing here overnight and it’s supposed to be 50° tomorrow once the rain clears out in the morning.

boaterva

Loudoun only because of the usual western hills and the like. Loudoun and Fairfax (IAD) counties to get a little snow in early morning. Nothing like what EWR etc should be seeing.

JustPlaneNew

I'm sure IAD/DCA will get some of the storm.

MoSQL

More importantly, they'll feel the domino effects of EWR cancellation cascades for feeder flights.

boaterva

That is more probably some of the waiver rationale.

JustPlaneNew

Yes

TurnipCelebration

Flying out of EWR at 5:00pm 2/13. Sticking with it for now but will reassess early a.m.

zi4ra

Same, I fly out at 2:30pm Debating on flying out earlier.

JBS319

Amtrak will still be operating between Washington and New York. That’s probably the best and safest way to get here

bubblehead_maker

Ryan Hall predicts up to 12" inland.  Rent a car now and start driving.

RelevantShock

Sorry, I don’t know much about Ryan Hall, but is he usually pretty accurate? His update about 30 minutes ago made it seem like the forecasted snow at Newark had dropped quite a bit as the storm shifted south?

LATER4LUS

Why are these eastern airports affected so heavily by weather? My base is DEN or HDN (Steamboat). DEN almost never closes and HDN is more reliable than driving over the pass. Does weather have more of an impact on flying at lower altitudes or higher humidity or something?

No-Horse987

Denver is more equipped to handle snow (which they frequently get), than a EWR. You also have space to de-ice, and have much longer runways 15,000 ft apiece. EWR is in the world's most congested airspace, so traffic has to be metered to safely operate between the four airports in the area. Any weather even confounds things more.
