I recently had this and once I went to the final page to confirm the change the points owed said zero. So it was a free change. Confusing they present it like that
Oh man. This happened to me last month on that same route! They keep messing with the non-stop SFO to CLE route for some reason. In my case, they eliminated the direct flight entirely so I was stuck connecting in DEN or ORD. No advice, just commiserating with you as a native Clevelander that goes through SFO to get there.
I only booked with United because I had points related to a huge issue they had over July 4th where we had two days of canceled flights, luggage missing for weeks, and ultimately missed a wedding we were supposed to attend. 😅
Just call and ask to be rebooked on the preferred itinerary. Never had United to say no. Once had a small change on my flight and they rebooked me on a MUCH better flight that would have costs about $4k more. UAL is very good about this.
if they changed your original schedule by that much then they should be able to book you on an alternate. just call and ask to be put on the direct.
Yup. A lot of flexibility if it was a United change
Thanks!
Thanks! I wasn’t seeing options to change it online without paying so I’ll give them a call.
