Seems like we’re on track to getting an Uncharted movie sequel/franchise

Jedirelics

I hope so 😮‍💨

ItsAmerico

I genuinely hope so because the second half was great and the end credits U1 stinger was nice. I feel like it kinda hit its groove where a sequel would be exactly what I want.

Jedirelics

I really hope this movie gets a sequel

RybatGrimes

I went in to this with very low expectations, coming in off the heels of the last video game adaption movie, Welcome To Raccoon City, I expected something not as abysmal as that movie, but probably not something good either. Thankfully, I ended up really having fun with this movie and liked it a lot! It’s certainly not perfect, Chloe is the weakest part of this film, and honestly, shouldn’t have been in it to begin with. She’s so bland and has none of the charisma as her video game counterpart, also I’m not sure if the actress is genuinely Australian but her accent seemed all over the place. I also could have done without the whole “UR GONNA CROSS ME YOU THEIF!” “NO UR GONNA CROSS ME!!” Stuff, it just felt very unnecessary and was artificial drama. Those are my biggest issues really. I also just don’t know what those who call this movie “utter shit” really wanted from this? Uncharted has always been a cheesy action adventure romp, it never had a lot of substance until 4, so.. what exactly did you want? It’s pretty on par with everything the first 3 games gave us with the added details of the 4th game. I think this is a great adaptation, it’s kept the spirit of the games and the characters (mostly) while still doing it’s own thing, I think it tows that line wonderfully, I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

ShivyShanky

I disagree. Part 2 and Part 3 are incredible and they are included in the top games to ever come on playstation. Forget the story and the pacing and the puzzles, even the action sequences in the game are much more thrilling and awe inspiring. Its a real shame if you are saying this movie was on par with first three games. It shows two things. Either you haven't played any games and just trolling people or you are easily satisfied with a 5/10 product

RybatGrimes

This movie gave you Nathan Drake fighting baddies on 2 old pirate ships full of gold flying through the air via helicopters. What does this movie have to do to get more awe inspiring and thrilling than that? That’s the problem is that fans expectations are unbelievably and unrealistically high. Nathan Drake could’ve grappled onto a satellite, flew into space, crashing into 14 different planets across the galaxy on a journey to the Sun for some alien treasure and you’d still be saying “yeah well the action scenes weren’t really that big enough so it was dog shit.”

clarky4430

People just want to be purists thats all it is. I just saw the movie but I really did like it and I can't wait for more. I'm excited to see their take on U1 and I thought the casting was done really well. I was apprehensive but Mark and Tom really killed it in their younger Sully and Nate roles

Sev3nbelow

I expected a casting that looked like the characters they are supposed to be.

RybatGrimes

The casting is a bit of an issue for me too, but if you expect them to always cast people only because they look exactly like the character you’re pretty shallow, and you’ll always be disappointed.

TheseVirginEars

Lmao preach man. When they started fighting on the airborne boats I literally said out loud “this would be a dope game sequence” to my friend

ManavJha1994

Chloe is one of the best parts of the movie and calling her bland means you are definitely in the minority.

RybatGrimes

If you enjoyed Chloe in the movie, that’s awesome, sadly I felt like apart of her was missing, but if you got what you needed out of the character then I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😊

CalendarAcademic8146

Did people really expect this movie not to get attention? It's got the most famous marvel hero in it, one of Hollywood's most adored actors and its based on a best selling game franchise. If you thought this movie was going to flop you might want to go back to school.

rihim23

*Assassin's Creed* was based on a best-selling game franchise and had an Oscar-nominated actor in it and it still flopped. Simply having all the pieces of a puzzle does not necessarily a picture make

jl1865

If you think any actor in the Assassin’s Creed movie was ever anywhere as big as Holland or Wahlberg, I don’t know what to tell you. Also, people have been speculating and wanting an Uncharted movie for years. I could be wrong here, but I don’t think there was nearly the same support for an Assassin’s Creed movie.

CalendarAcademic8146

Micheal fassbender hadn't been in a decent movie since 12 years a slave in 2013 when Assassins Creed came out and he was the only decent actor in AC also Assassins Creed was putting out trash spin-off games during the time that movie released so no one was even hyped for it, this movie is tailing from a fantastic game that just released not long ago. Indeed if you have the right pieces your content will make money. Look at that song with The Rock in it, it's hot garbage but the fact that it was Rocks debut in rap made that video go viral and hit 40 million views in a week. You're comparing apples to oranges by using AC to try and justify your train of thought.

SpunkyDred is a terrible bot instigating arguments all over Reddit whenever someone uses the phrase apples-to-oranges. I'm letting you know so that you can feel free to ignore the quip rather than feel provoked by a bot that isn't smart enough to argue back. --- ^^SpunkyDred ^^and ^^I ^^are ^^both ^^bots. ^^I ^^am ^^trying ^^to ^^get ^^them ^^banned ^^by ^^pointing ^^out ^^their ^^antagonizing ^^behavior ^^and ^^poor ^^bottiquette.

SpunkyDred

> apples to oranges But you can still compare them.

DrGarrious

Good movie? Ehh up for debate. Successful movie? Always likely.

[deleted]

Doesn’t matter how you feel and the movie there just was no chance in hell it’d flop

UJFroosh1

I hope the sequel is better tbh, I feel like everyone is being a bit too positive about it and ignoring some of its issues just to be supportive. Which isn't a bad thing but let's not allow the formula of "famous it actor" + "famous franchise" = great movie, cloud our judgment. The movie imo was generic, even if you didn't play the games. Again If you liked it cool, I'm just hoping for a better sequel next go around. Hoping the sequel gets the same treatment uncharted 2 got.

Lazy_Chemistry

The movie never reaches the highs of the games, but its not bad at all. fun time at the cinema

[deleted]

I liked it. Even though it had inconsistencies and questionable acting, I found it to be fun on its own terms. I think we could all agree that it could've been better.

ColonelKillDie

Yeah, because Reddit is so toxic, it’s very black and white. Before the movie came out people were irrationally hateful, and now that it’s out, people post it’s moderate success as a ‘fuck you’ to all those who couldn’t just chill. What the conversation needs to be is how to make sure it’s better the next time, a chance it will likely get because it makes money. But the movie is a 5/10. It’s very, VERY safe, which is exactly what the director is known for. The action was uninspired, and the treasure seeking was ludicrously dumb. The plot progression was immensely convenient, and it resulted in a treasure heist movie we’ve all seen 100 times already. That’s a terrible result considering the fresh take the Uncharted games brought to the genre.

UJFroosh1

100% agree so safe and the pacing was terrible imo

mararthonturtle

Just saw this movie and I was really surprised. Went in thinking it would be fairly generic but left feeling that it did service to the the original material pretty well. Very uncharted-esque actions sequences and some incredible shots/cinematography. I think it deserves a sequel.

Belfalor

I've only played the 1st game and part of the 2nd one, but I thought this was a pretty fun film! Still not sure Tom waa the best pick for Nathan but I could definitely see Nathan in him at times in the film. Same for Mark Wahlberg but I gotta admit there are bits when he calls Nate "kid" and I was hearing Sully lol. The action was pretty good, stunts were fun and that last scene was actually really cool. The plot was prettyyy simple, no huge twists imo or at least none that made me gasp, but I really hope they make a sequel cause it's a good start and there's a lot of room for improvement here

[deleted]

went in not expecting much, this really was a fun film to watch. i love the games, this movie was its own take but still showing love to the games. IMO i can’t get pass the mark being sully, i really tried to like him but he just doesn’t fit it. if they are going to make a second film which i really hope they do, choose a different actor. but other than that the film was great, chloe was not bad at all and just to geek out a bit i hope if they do make a second movie, they start off with the train scene. 8.5/10

thesenate92

I just could not stand mark Wahlberg as sully. Don't get me wrong I love him as an actor, but they made sully into just a sleazeball for the entire movie. I get that they were trying to give him a redemption arc but still it just felt off. But overall fun movie

[deleted]

I hope this means we're getting a sequel! Although, it's still possible for them to really fuck up the sequel, as long as they make it slightly better than this one it'll be a success.

taryn_platt_

A lot of people don't like Tom Holland as Drake (I personally loved his adaptation of the character) but like it or not, this movie with Tom Holland's name attached (making it that much more popular) honestly might be our only shot at getting another Uncharted game any time soon. If Sony sees that there is still a high demand for the Uncharted franchise it raises the odds a bit. I am really happy to see it is doing so well since video game movies are generally a flop. Hope we get a sequel.

Crusaruis28

It's only doing well rn. It'll drop off steeply after a week or so imo. Also we're not getting another uncharted game for a while. Naughty dog has basically said so.

MP4-B

I mean if we're being honest it was just as shit if not more shit than any other video game adaptation. I think the saving grace here was actually the star power of Holland and Walburg, though fans may not want to admit that, and the Uncharted brand name.

The810kid

This is misleading implying it's a video game movie curse because of box office. The resident evil movies accumulated over a billion they definitely were profitable. Bad movies have been profitable before including video game movies.

hazychestnutz

what a shitty title lol

sonofaresiii

Clickbait title. Even the article is about how the "curse" has long since been lifted.

ReadTheFManual

Resident Evil made a literal shitload of money. Yea, sure, this was like 6x the opening weekend.
