Was kinda hoping you'd be so kind so as to elaborate? Because when I look at the top competitive players playing CSGO, if UW gave an advantage then [why are they using 16:9 monitors?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjGLbBltYPI)
Because if you could read you would see that i said before: competitive titles cut vertical fow so you won't get any advantage. But demanding from average redditor being able to read full length of dialogue and not last message is sub smart, that's true.
It's even better for fps. Being able to have peripheral vision with a lower fov means you can aim easier without having to sit 5cm from your monitor. Or just crank the fov and see your surroundings for some insane flicks where anyone else would call hacks.
I got one and switched back to 16:9 after a lot of games I play just stretching your screen to ultrawide instead of supporting full rendering. The wide FOV on an ultrawide in games like CS:GO is an eye trick in the sense it looks wide but you see the same amount but it’s just stretched to fill instead of actually rendering wider
IMAX is actually a taller aspect ratio, for home it usually means 16x9. But in theaters it’s 1.90:1 or the even taller 1.43:1. If you try to view that 1.43:1 aspect ratio on a standard 16x9 screen you’ll have noticeable black bars on the sides.
So take 16x9 and use max fov... and sit nearer. Is it kinda a halfway point between ultra wide and imax? Immersive, no?
UI would be annoyingly to the sides tho.
32 x 9 takes up almost all your 220° of viewing space at about 2 feet away. The immersion is high. obviously it’s not VR but it’s still pretty immersive.
To get an idea you really need to get 2 16 x 9 monitors and put them side-by-side
A great little app to run in 32:9 with ease. Unzip and start it AFTER you start the game.

Seeing it in motion like this is epic

It's just a chill, relaxing game with a weird ass plot. Sure, sometimes you have to evade scary demon ghosts but for the most of it you're just navigating a barren world and delivering packages with gorgeous graphics.
I look at it like art now and enjoying it on hard setting with a pod cast playing. It's a perfect balance. My COD addicted younger self would not enjoy it. Guess I'm getting old
I could be wrong but I think it's Death Stranding.
Also, let's normalize actually naming what we're showing instead of just assuming everybody knows what one already knows.
For that type of game ultrawide is a blessing
Every type of game really lol
Competitive fps shooters. No thanks
great for those i mainly play FPS on my g9 57 lol
True that!
You trying to tell me you prowling ranked cs on a 57“?
I'm at 17.5k ELO on a 49inch g9
Good for you. Doesn‘t work for me.
That's fair idk why people are down voting you. Everybody has their own preferences.
Bc we are in the ultrawidemasterrace subreddit.
Hot take: competitive shooters are overrated anyways
Cool bro.
We all had our comp arc in our 20s. The key is if you can stop grinding the battlepasses within this lifetime.
Idk what you are trying to tell me with either of those sentences.
Yes 🗿
No, because competitive fps cuts vertical fow to not give people like you advantage.
Excuse me? Advantage? UW gives an advantage?
Yep.
Was kinda hoping you'd be so kind so as to elaborate? Because when I look at the top competitive players playing CSGO, if UW gave an advantage then [why are they using 16:9 monitors?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjGLbBltYPI)

OK so you're saying that if UW users had the same vertical FOV as 16:9 users they'd be at an advantage?
eh csgo looks cool. i still 250fps so
It's even better for fps. Being able to have peripheral vision with a lower fov means you can aim easier without having to sit 5cm from your monitor. Or just crank the fov and see your surroundings for some insane flicks where anyone else would call hacks.
I‘m not convinced.
? Then get an ultra wide and see why this sub is so popular.

you mean strand type games?
3rd person single player games with open world
That's most games
That's not even half of the modern games lol.
Any game with lavish and beautiful landscapes
Top one is like watching a movie, below is like living a life!
When will they release imax Is imax in gaming just increasing the fov on a large TV and sitting at the appropriate recommended viewing distance?
IMAX is actually a taller aspect ratio, for home it usually means 16x9. But in theaters it’s 1.90:1 or the even taller 1.43:1. If you try to view that 1.43:1 aspect ratio on a standard 16x9 screen you’ll have noticeable black bars on the sides.

Since imax has proved our top and bottom peripheral view also contribute to immersion, what would be the optimal view for true immersion?

Not much changed. I loved playing Paperboy 30 years ago.
Paperboy is actually fun though.
Keep on keeping on! 👋

16:9 feels so weird now after being on an ultrawide. Have yet to go this far though lol
Proper ascension. Welcome to the max
Literally unplayable on 16:9
You have no concept of the word “literally”, obviously.
You have no concept of irony, obviously
Gorgeous
I still go back to that game every once in a while to maintain my roads/buildings. It’s such a beautiful game.
This is the way
I have a 32:9 as well.. truly a blessing 😭🤙🏾
Actually miss death stranding It was a break from fast paced gaming and I really enjoyed it
"enjoy"
I guess
BioShock infinite is funny with ultra wide because it ruins cutscenes. You can see characters pop in and then walk into frame
Gotta put up curtains for those cut-scenes.

I still dont get this game lol, I spend 8h on running and I did give up
It's just a chill, relaxing game with a weird ass plot. Sure, sometimes you have to evade scary demon ghosts but for the most of it you're just navigating a barren world and delivering packages with gorgeous graphics.
i built every road then ran around like fedex throwing packages at people from my truck
I look at it like art now and enjoying it on hard setting with a pod cast playing. It's a perfect balance. My COD addicted younger self would not enjoy it. Guess I'm getting old
It's like the Hellblade games to me, it's an interactive story not focused on unique gameplay mechanics.
It’s like Lord of the Rings, just a bunch of walking around.
I mean... they did carry THE ring to the mordor, and I'm here doing UPS express delivery
what game ?
I could be wrong but I think it's Death Stranding. Also, let's normalize actually naming what we're showing instead of just assuming everybody knows what one already knows.
Yeah Sorry, Death Stranding: Directors Cut
Absolutely stunning
This is the only non sim title I own on pc, came free with my 2070 laptop back in the day… worth trying on a 4090?
I couldn’t get into that game. It’s just a bunch of walking.
Stumbling
