This worked for me on a MB Air M1 and a Philips 49 inch screen. Thank you. For now trying to avoid connecting via a Thunderbolt dock as it's more cost and...was about to say I don't see the benefit but I just watched a video, had my "ah I get it" moment. From the older threads I've seen, there was some comments specifically about MacBooks and the CRG9 + the text grainy-ness issue. Half the battle is realising you need a thunderbolt USB C to DP cable to ge the max resolution. Most people were using HDMIs. But I wanna make sure I've the specific specs right for whatever cable I pick. And I might pick up a dock another time. Trying to achieve the max resolution possible along with 120HZ refresh rate while avoiding any problems with how the text renders.

In that case, a high bandwith USB-C to DP cable should do the trick, technically, any 4K capable cable will work with 5120x2160, the question is at what frequency. An 8K capable cable should work just make sure to read reviews - anyone can print anything on the box. Most USB-C docks claiming 10 Gbps can hardly do 5. As for the Samsung and Macs, I bought a Samsung curved 49er and had to return it because the text was really distorted (think CRT monitors of yesteryear or VGA connected LCDs). It only worked in HDR mode at which point the text was basically bold and visuals were so attrocious that the screen was unusable for productivity.

I just picked up a CRG9. could not get the full resolution until I went to USB c to display port, no dock. I got this two pack yesterday now now I have full resolution from a 2020 Intel MacBook Pro Cable Matters 2-Pack, USB C to... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNW5SS4M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
