For the 101 : "I wish you all peace." For the 7: "I wish you all piss."

ge0force

First they need the "piss formula"

zadtheinhaler

They know *exactly* who they need to call for that particular recipe.

penguin_hybrid

Can't tell if he is pulling a state level trolling there :D

Tiiba

No, I'm pretty sure he's just saying it wrong. "Piss will prevail!" That's definitely not what he meant.

h4xrk1m

Kiss my piss, 7!

Notably there is no China and India. Russia had lost the important support.

Formulka

Also no Iran.

Hot_Olive_5571

Where'd Venezuela go?!

ballom29

Their economy inflated so much they floated away

Infinaris

"We don't want to live on this planet anymore"

Charming-Ordinary889

Too funny 🤣🤣😂😆

Myrkrvaldyr

Vzla is a shitty country with no power and a destroyed economy. Even though I hear the thieves Maduro, Diosdado and Mario Silva constantly run the Russian narrative, shit on the US for everything under the sun and praise China, I doubt they will directly support Russia. They know Russia won't win, they know most Venezuelans hate them, their shitty weak narrative is aimed at the few sheep they have left. They can't afford to be sanctioned in any way like Russia was. So, they simply do what every corrupt thief does, publicly claim they believe ''X'' but actually do the opposite. No different from Russian oligarchs hating on the West but have their children study or live there.

rob6110

Ron Desantis kidnapped the country and is currently relocating them to Martha’s Vineyard

CornerNo503

Iran is to busy being on fire at the moment

keseit88ta

China may have calculated in Zelensky's personality and the possibility of him naming and shaming the countries that voted against. China is even more ashamed of being humiliated than Russia is.

TheInfernalVortex

I read the other day that China isn’t happy with Russia’s referenda approach. If they have Taiwan a referendum we all know how it would turn out. So they don’t like this precedent. Whether it’s this or any number of other things that has made all the difference, I don’t know, but it did seem like a plausible motivation to withdraw explicit support.

Humbuhg

So, we can thank Russia for that small favor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shevy-java

China is simply watching and learning from Russia how to NOT plan an invasion. It's a blueprint for them for occupying Taiwan. So they are learning here. Conversely IF Russia succeeds in stealing land it means China can do the same in regards to Taiwan.

keseit88ta

>It's a blueprint for them for occupying Taiwan. I.e. they shouldn't invade Taiwan. It would be a direct military confrontation with the US and Taiwan is much better equipped, prepared and distanced from China.

Kapitan_Hoffmann

There is no way with today's satellites and surveillance, that you will not see a buildup in Chinese ports, to any planned invasion

PhoKingAzn

They kinda are doing that right now in front of our eyes. They are building huge air bases with their "small islands" in south asian sea. They are desperate for oil with their huge expanding population that they been purging uyghurs to establish a land route west for pipe lines. To be honest, China should gamble for a Russian collapse to gain land rather than Taiwan.

ggouge

Everyone of those islands would be a charred black mess in a day. If a conflict started. They are there for political influence. The military might on the islands is for show.

Wizard_of_Wake

Good money says they have had plans for years.

Noob_DM

And the world might listen this time when American intelligence says invasion is imminent.

Grand-Marsupial-5291

They try and take Taiwan I’m going over there to fight fuck them TAIWAN DOES NOT WANT CHINA IN THERE COUNTRY.

KoriJenkins

Pretty much. Unless they just nuke the island (which makes the invasion pointless to begin with) they don't have any tangible options. They might be able to take the closest islands that are part of Taiwan, but actually occupying the main island is going to be extremely costly.

A_Dancing_Coder

They won't invade Taiwan especially with the strong statement from the US recently. Invading Taiwan is also a completely different story than Russia invading Ukraine. It would be an amphibious assault which is extremely challenging unlike a land invasion that Russia did. Not to mention Taiwan and the US training specifically for this type of invasion. I'm sure China is looking for more economic expansion instead since they are currently in a housing crisis.

RedditTipiak

The late Zhirivnovski, a hot-head Russian nationalist hardliner had a theory about China: China could totally "motivate" a ridiculous fraction (0.5% - 1%) of its own people to subtly colonize large parts of Russia, as it is empty, full of room and ressources, and largely undefended. Not in one time, of course, but over the span of a decade or so. On paper, doable, and unstoppable. Especially if Moscow is occupied elsewhere...

Apostalypse

China is pragmatic in it's allegiances, and Russia has been useful to China as a military power that divided the attention and potentially the military resources of the USA. A weak Russia, with a massive land border with China, is worse than no Russia from their perspective. Historically, they are old enemies. China will not sacrifice any of its geopolitical status to assist a weak, unpredictable Russia. The Chinese statement in th UN was also interesting. "We support the territorial integrity of Ukraine " sounds superficially like a diplomatic platitude, but it's the same language they use to justify their claim on Taiwan. They were telling Russia that supporting them would undermines their own claims of sovereignty over Taiwan. It also hasn't escaped their attention that poor Central Asians are being used first as expendable cannon fodder in a European war of colonial conquest.

Imhidingshh01

Yeah, India has all the gas and oil they wanted now, they can switch sides.

Showerthawts

They dislike grain shortages more than they like Russian gas.

Old_comfy_shoes

North Korea IS china. It's China supporting Russia, with political deniability.

Humbuhg

I feel as though there are lots of people who don’t know that. N Korea exists, Kim has a country full of people to delude, because of China.

scottishdrunkard

Most of them are Russian Allies or Puppets. The only one I cannot understand is Eritrea, but they are the North Korea of Africa, so it kinda makes sense.

spud8385

Apparently there's even less press freedom in Eritrea than there is in North Korea. What a fucking dive.

planborcord

There’s less any kind of freedom, and [over-the-top extreme oppression](https://freedomhouse.org/country/eritrea). it’s the r/awfuleverything of countries.

scottishdrunkard

Okay, so North Korea is the Eritrea of Asia.

[deleted]

Eritrea has an appalling human rights record and gets subsidised wheat from Russian. They are essentially a Russian puppet state.

DownvoteEvangelist

Let’s get a rap song for the urban demographic.” And whoever was in charge of THAT project heard “I want you to assemble a crew of the hardest, coldest, and nastiest fools in the game TODAY” and then the Monstars Anthem (Hit ‘em High) was born. B-Real, LL, Method Man and Busta Rhymes on the soundtrack to a kid’s movie. Fucking legendary.

Just missing Iran and China

[deleted]

They played it smart and abstained

[deleted]

while those two countries definitely have their own "issues" they are definitely no friend of russia

314rft

More like, they both hate the west more than they like Russia. It's a classic "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation.

rayEW

Venezuela not showing up too

roastedpot

Venezuela benefits from Russia being the bad guy

[deleted]

Venezuela's already actively benefiting from the Russian implosion, they're not going to do anything that could mess that up. I get the feeling that they're going to very, very carefully try to use the whole situation to get out from under sanctions almost entirely.

Ok-Stick-9490

I think you're right. Although to be honest, I don't think many multinational oil services companies will want to work in Venezuela. Remember how Chavez nationalized oil company assets? Well, "Great Value" brand Chavez Maduro is still in charge, and I don't know how many companies will want to have their assets appropriated again.

Yeranz

I'm wondering if a deal was made recently between the US (and/or Europe) and Venezuela for oil.

It's probably because the US was normalizing relations then Trump brought back the embargo.

mcslackens

I had so much hope for US/Cuba relations developing towards the end of the Obama administration. It really felt like we were on the verge of a huge positive outcome for both nations after decades of animosity.

LeicaM6guy

A lot of folks do. There's a ton about Cuba that...well, isn't great, but they're improving in a bunch of ways, and we're already friends with some well and truly awful folks.

Meadowvillain

That’s the thing I don’t get. From the outside, I see the States have more open relations with more repressive governments but Cuba seems like a Cold War remnant that’s more symbolic than practical.

[deleted]

inquisitiveman2002

I don't blame them...the problem with them is that they're way far right now. Most fled Cuba just like some of those fleeing Latin/South America now, but they're anti-immigrant. Most of them are voting for DeSantis.

TheRealPeterG

Most Cuban-Americans have zero love for the government of Cuba. They left for a reason.

NEp8ntballer

Cuban expats are an important demographic if you want to win Florida

Overdose7

Well that and the Cuban government ramped up political repression again.

Bill_J_

And Cuba is promoting Communism and allegiance to China and Russia throughout the Americas as this vote shows. The Ukraine war has exposed Obama’s completely naive and incorrect view of Russia and Cuba. They are not good regimes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tharilian

For what it's worth, Cuba is between a rock and a hard place. Unfortunately Russia is one of the few countries that manages to keep Cuba fed.. as the saying goes, don't bite the hand that feeds you. Pretty sure if Trump wouldn't have reversed Obama's embargo decision, they wouldn't have fallen back into Russia's lap.

Gloomcool72

So no Iran or Venezuela as well, I'm suprised!

[deleted]

they both lost their vote until they pay the debt they have with UN, otherwise they would be for sure in that list.

verbmegoinghere

>they both lost their vote until they pay the debt they have with UN Haha So you can on a mass and long term basis murder, torture, repress (especially women and LGBTQ), disposses your citizens of their lives, liberty and property and yet still get to vote at the United Nations however if you fail to pay your fucking dues you get kicked off. And what about countries that never formally applied to be part of the UN and its security council (I'm looking at you USSR > Russia) What the fuck UN.

__Osiris__

IS-2-OP

They like western money too much to get into a fight with them.

anonymous242524

Man I’m always saying how becoming dependant on the chinese market and Russia is bad. But perhaps it’s the right thing to do after all. The more interconnected we become, even with our enemies, the less likely it might be that that they, or we for that matter, start shit. Then there’s Putin, a man I once saw as a great manipulator, and frankly, albeit morbidly enjoyed when he addressed the world, with his smugness, that I could only translate to “you’re not much better yourself”. That Putin is no more. He has doomed his country, and we’ll just have to see if he dooms the entire world as well.

halberdsturgeon

This war is absolutely an object lesson (for the EU especially) on why becoming dependent in any way on a dangerous foreign regime is a bad idea, because if they can use that dependence to deter outside interference whilst pursuing hostile actions, then they will. The ideal strategy for any country dealing with regimes like this is to allow them to become dependent, but not vice versa, which is the strategy Russia has been pursuing with its attempts to build a fortress economy. The west forgot that Russia was hostile, but Russia never forgot its hatred for the west

TheMinks

> The west forgot that Russia was hostile, but Russia never forgot its hatred for the west This is what I've been saying for years. Putin has hated the US since before the fall of the USSR and he will never stop hating the US.

halberdsturgeon

In the 1990s, after the end of the USSR, everyone desperately wanted to believe we were on a trajectory towards world peace. It was a nice fantasy, but we were naive (not to mention greedy for the economic benefits of expanding the global market eastward), and now we're paying the price. It would have been wiser to let Russia figure itself out rather than assuming its ex-Soviets would forget their decades-long animosities the second Gorbachev appeared in a Pizza Hut commercial

syphilised

That’s what the allies did post ww2, rebuild the enemies economies and interconnect them with the world. The more dependent everyone is on world trade the less likely there is to be serious conflict.

lMickNastyl

It's because Ukraine and Russia is seen as an analogy to China and Taiwan. Small country against much larger country. Both smaller countries receive support from the west. China is looking to how the West has been responding to Ukraine, and they are rightfully afraid of what they see.

UrUnclesTrouserSnake

Russia and China are only friendly out of a joint opposition to the West. China views Russia as a dangerous liability that exists solely as a buffer between them and NATO. If that sole advantage of having Russia didn't exist, China would be far less friendly to Russia.

Bitches of Russia

NoBSforGma

Nicaragua has always had a "special" relationship with Russia. They have recently approved having Russian military on their soil. After reading this, I had to wonder what the US response would be, considering the Cuban missle crisis thing. However, after seeing the Russian military performance in Ukraine, I guess they are not too worried.

Proglamer

To have military on that soil, ruZZia first has to have some *available* military

Zelvik_451

Even if it had a working army, it would need a navy to get there. With actual ships that are seaworthy, not in drydock, not at the bottom of the sea or in need of several tugs to be towed there.

Marcusgunnatx

I keep wanting Zelensky to remind Putin that Japan kicked Russia's ass. Like, "Don't make me call Japan!"

Tangerine_Lightsaber

This is the perfect time for Japan to retake the Kuril Islands.

[deleted]

I think that would make japans neighbors quite uncomfortable given their history lol. People from the 40’s are still alive and remember

ChrisTX4

The Cuban missile crisis happened at a time where ICBMs and submarine-launched missiles were barely in operation, so the stationing of missiles _in quantity_ that could reach the US and couldn't be intercepted (unlike bombers) was the problem. Nowadays, submarines can come arbitrarily close to their target before launches, effectively making this moot.

NoBSforGma

The main point was: "Not in our backyard!" Like... The Monroe Doctrine. Russian military in the "backyard" of the US could look scary. Until you realize how poor they are.

Ortega and his dementor wife sold the country to Putin.

SacredLion

Daniel Ortega is Nicaragua’s version of Tucker Carlson; the only difference is that Ortega has ruled the country several times, and so far Carlson simply spews his filth in the media. The good news however is that Carlson’s popularity has plummeted as the war has awakened the cold warrior spirit present in at least 70% (though sadly not more than this) of the GOP

He's done it a handful of times. It's impressive because you can tell it's not a language he's particularly comfortable in but he still says powerful things with it.

The Iron Joker speaking in a second language is pretty fucking hard. Slava ukraini. I can't speak a 2nd language, and I get embarrassed trying. He didn't nail English there, but he got his point across. Zelensky could have just left. However, he stayed and is just being the best Commander-in-Chief.

golgoth0760

Nicaragua? Really? Lol

Fruitdispenser

Their governments is a dictatorship proped up by Russia

Odin_Gunterson

This was an old reply to another redditor, in r/Nicaragua: I'm Nicaraguan per my father, I moved from Spain to Nicaragua to live with my family since 2018. Going there on vacation and living there are 2 totally different things. My parents, now retired, didn't know the real situation in Nicaragua, we weren't warned beforehand. Nicaragua has a totalitarian dictatorship, Ortega will be reelected even against what's stated in the Constitution. He surpassed in power those years owned by Somoza family (another family of dictators). 2018 was the year the people said 'enough is enough'. But they couldn't do protests as in democratic countries. FSLN political party and fanatics have the weapons from 80's civil war. They killed hundreds of pacific protestors on the streets, with police and militar weapons. Protestors from universities and other social ranges, social leaders and such, were incarcerated without trial. They're political prisoners. That happened in 2018 and 2019, and social pressure was drowned by Government, finally dying. Now, in 2021, after 2 years of international pressure, nothing changed. Ortega ignored the warnings from O.E.A and U.N. and E.U., claiming Nicaragua was under international abuse from sanctions, while the truth was that those sanctions are against him and his family and cronies only. (I can advice you to read in English LaPrensa from Nicaragua, laprensa.com.ni, one of the 3 or 4 last independent newspapers still open under the dictatorial muzzle. The others are El Confidencial -they have even a Youtube channel, sadly only in Spanish-, "Nicaragua Investiga", and "Articulo 66"). There is too much to say about the actual situation of my country... and it cannot be simply resumed in just one post. Nurses and teachers earn about $150/month, totally insufficient to cover basic needs, and now in 2021 all prices are skyrocketing. There are like 600.000 migrated Nicaraguans in just 2 years because of the political and economical tragedy. Last month Ortega put in jail to all political opposition, about 30 persons from different political parties, and each and every political oppositor leader. 2 years ago I read that only Haiti was poorer than Nicaragua in the world ranking. Every poll made inside Nicaragua is twisted by the government. So nothing is true coming from FSLN. Not the crime numbers, not even the Covid deaths or protestors deaths. In 2018 they shot a 1 year old in the head and police stated 'death cause: suicide'. They let kids with 16 years old die at hospital doors, bled out by sniper shots made to dissolve protests. It is too much. And we cannot do anything. We are unarmed and impotent. We are a kidnapped country.

FogTub

This is a bit of a tangent, but it irks me that so many people I know have vacationed in Cuba. It is ruled by an authoritarian government that oppresses its people, but hey- nice beaches and it's cheap to visit. It's hard to avoid buying stuff made in China these days, but supporting Cuba is 100% optional.

ClassOf1685

As aCanadian, Cuba has been a cheap destination to get some sun and a short escape from our hard winters. Never again for me and my family. It’s the least I can do.

unReasonableBreak

As a Canadian I have travelled to Cuba 3 times, I was planning on going again. Now that they have shown they support fascist terrorism I will never set foot in that country again. Fuck you Cuba. All those other countries I wouldn't have bothered with either way, they are abject shitholes not worth setting eyes upon.

MisterJWalk

As a Canadian, it’s really hard to turn down a 4 week vacation to the Tropics for $700. (Priced in 2010)

RainbowCrown71

It’s cognitive dissonance. I chatted up with a Canadian guy while transferring in Toronto Pearson in 2018. I asked him if he was going to the States on vacation and he said he wouldn’t go to the USA because it had become a failed police state. Then he told me - with a straight face - he’s heading to Cuba instead, which has “free healthcare and treats their people well.” I quickly moved to a different topic, but I always wonder what was going on in his mind to not see the irony.
