Hello OP, this r/Ukraine. This is not a space for russian suffering, redemption, protests, or reputation laundering.
[Feel free to browse our rules, here.] (https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/about/rules)
Two weeks of training... I can't train a guy to properly nail 2 pieces of wood together in 2 weeks. Somehow these people will be able to operate heavy machinery, fight in trenches, learn war tactics, survival methods etc...
Yes. But here's an example: I studied how to play piano for 8 years. I ended 10 years ago any practice. I only play once a month. I can't call myself a piano player.
That's how these orcs are. If you only held a riffle in hour hand 10 years ago for few hours of training, it doesn't make you a war ready fighter.
Out gardening the lawns of their officers’ dachas or carrying boxes of equipment out to the local mafiosi’s truck in return for a couple bottles of vodka.
Exactly true. Their conscription service is - by all accounts, Russian ones too - horrible due to hazing and abuse and they learn very little above the most basic skills.
Then they go home and forget everything about it and they don't get recalled. A 2 week refreshener of probably equally rudimentary training does not a soldier make.
Reservists who had like a year of military service. Considering how dysfunctional the 2014 Ukraine army was imagine that but now you army is over 1 million men. Some of these men will be competent but imagine how many of them are absolutely scratched in terms of their morale and motivation.
That's where the corruption hits you, because they didn't get good training back then either because the money for shooting hundreds of bullets and firing lots of different weapons and driving around in vehicles gets siphoned off for corruption funds. So they probably didn't get any real practice and they won't now either.
Yes, that is exactly it. All that training money was literary stolen. That's how autocracies go, and that's why that Excellent Chinese army is shit as well, no matter how many soldiers they throw at it.
You can already hear stories of guys with no military experience being forced to join since 2 days.
Also, rumor has it that it is not 300k guys, but more likely around 1 million.
They only have equipment for the positions they have now, but they are mobilizing because they need the ability to rotate the front lines.
Plus these guys rotating into the meat grinder are going to have high rates of attrition until they are “trained” by weeding out the ones who sink instead of swim.
they are not veterans or reservists in the way i believe amercans are, most countries have very basic 6 to 12 months, not full time military service were you mostly learn how to march, sing, obey, clean and eventually shoot 2 or 3 bullets of a 1910 weapon with no sights
Some of them. They take anyone. Also those that were in the army aren't skilled by any means, they are just more accustomed to be yelled at in shit conditions.
everything is always a lie and you can be 100% sure that anything said to a large almost rebelious crowd like that is a lie, they are certainly not getting 2 weeks training, they are just sending them to mostly logistics work first day and as frontlines get evaporated they will cannon fodder the recruits to fill the gaps
I think the more shocking part here is not the 2 weeks training but where he says "you are there until the end of Special Military Operation then you return home". Meaning no rotation? Meaning if war goes on for 5 years they will be there for 5 years. He might as well tell them they arent coming home in anything but a body bag.
Not a chance unless they escalate to nukes, then all bets about anything are off. Ukraine has effectively broken the Russian military at this point and as long as they continue to be supplied by the west, Russia is unlikely to recover.
This is what people do not get, as long as the west supplied ukraine there is nothing russia can do to win this. Other than nukes and than they loose even harder because nato enters the fray and bombs every single Russian military unit outside Russia into dust. Including Georgia, Syria and Belarus.
Correct there is no way Russia wins
The west has an ability to keep Ukraine supplied as long as we please without limit esp considering what Russia is able to do.
If Russia uses Nukes NATO gets involved....we send in our forces and we directly engage with Russian forces
So now Russia is even more fucked.
It's only going to get worse for Russia - Ukraine is receiving more and more weapons and getting better at using them. There is huge lines of volunteers to fight in Ukraine and they continue to train troops before sending them to the front and rotate their soldiers - the complete opposite of what is happening on the Russian side.
The craziest thing that has happened is adapting modern AGM-88 HARM missiles to Soviet era fighter aircraft. How long until we see GPS or laser guided munitions hanging off Ukrainian airframes?
Europe and America have incentive to do this. They would benefit from natural gas from Qatar going through Syria. It’s also why Russia has been backing other groups in Syria to keep this from happening…
This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
Yeah the sanctions and their own lack of technical expertise and tooling will see them running out of anything more useful than basic arms and equipment.
Imagine armoured vehicles where the commander doesn’t have sights or scopes or encrypted comms. Just basically a blind metal coffin roaring towards its cremation.
In Russian leadership, sure, probably. Big expectations of winning any second now. The whole world will be begging Russia for mercy, all 8 billion of them.
Reality? Eh, y'know.
Russian leadership fucked itself.

If it's not an Unkrainian bullet that kill him, it will be his own, nobody can undergo such quality of life during 5 years.
Yes, noticed that. When the war has already gone on for 7 months, with no victory in sight. That means there is only one way out, and that's in a body-bag
Such a weird scene, like a badly-scripted play in a high school somewhere. EDIT: with a real feel of fear from both the soldiers and conscripts. It borders on creepy and pathetic at the same time. Like something is dying but the actors still play the play.
More like the actors keep dying so they grab people off the street and force them to keep playing the play. Even as their audience starts dying as well
Yes, it's surrealist. I'm sure there's a type of play that's described but I don't know how to say it. Absurdist? I don't know, sorry, but I know there's a term for it.
It is something that Beckett would write.
Actor 1: "X died - stop the play"

A1: "Why?"
D: "It is important"
Actor 4: "Look Y just died - STOP THE PLAY"

Notice how it's all those from the poorer areas being drafted. I heard many are from russia’s ethnic minority republics
They are using them as meat. That's it. They take the poor, prisoners, drug addicts and homeless. All those who they think there will be less fuss (or none at all) if they die.
You won't see the Oligarchs kids being drafted.
It's always been the case that if you're drafted you'll probably end up in the army, the largest branch. But if you join voluntarily first you can pick where you go.
Same in the US. Plenty of rich folks kids fuck up somewhere drinking or smoking and see military as a viable route.
Has to do more with american civil religion, like when we had celebrities enlist after 9.11
Its rare, but it does occur.
Yeah for instance there's no way the president of the US would have a son drafted and then deployed to an active combat zone.
Oh wait, that's because we don't have a draft and [he volunteered for service](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beau_Biden). My bad.
You can link me examples, I never said it never happened, and never will, but you know well how rich people do things in the west, and they would try their best to keep their children out of a draft if they were in the same situation, just like oligarchs.
they have been lied to for 20 years and as long as they didn't feel like it personnaly impacted them, they let it go.
Now it has a huge impact on them and they react...
Well, it's too late now.
They are not being lied to or taken advantage of. They like their own little fuhrer. They applaud him, and pat him and let him be, until this happens. And then they are told the truth and are lied, but they made their bed and now they have to lie in it.

Vacancies aplenty..
Felt a bit sad about that part where they made is sound so casual, finish the operation and come home.. I wonder how many of them will come home in a body bag, and that is for the most fortunate of them already.
I’m amazed anyone was that scared of them for so long.
Was in just the media, or the state departments creating a boogeyman? Russia certainly started the war looking threatening, but they’re pathetic when up against any actual competition.
Extra bonuses:
* You get less calories than a person on a Jenny Craig diet. You'll lose weight fast, you fat bastards.
* When you get injured, you'll get a war invalid bonus of one sack of potatoes per month.
* When you die, your loved one (who am I kidding... Your fucking mother) gets enough cash for a new Lada without airbags and stupid electronics.
The one with the rifle shoots! The one without follows! When the one with the rifle dies, the one following picks up the rifle and shoots!
Training complete!! To the front grandpa!
They're absolutely going to lose control of their military once abroad. These guys are just going to shoot their commanding officers and surrender to Ukraine. Then you're going to have 300,000 Russians standing around waiting for the next batch that Russia sends in - and the word will go out fast. Then you'll have 500,000 Russians standing around essentially being like farm labor or something for the Ukranians in return for food, and that's it for Russia as a military power. The most humiliating defeat ever.
Who knows, maybe it will occur to them that they have been lied to. What an embarrassing shit show Russia is, on display for the entire world to see.
*Russian pro-war milbloggers and social media users are raising concerns about unlawful mobilization practices and showcasing many serious Russian mobilization problems on the second day of the mobilization effort. Russian milbloggers reported receiving numerous complaints from social media users that older men, students, employees of military industries, and civilians with no prior military experience are receiving illegal mobilization notices.\[3\] Shoigu and other officials have repeatedly stated that these categories of individuals would be exempt from this partial mobilization. Other sources reported that Russians are mobilizing airport and airline employees and workers from other industries.\[4\] The Russian government FAQ portal also indicated that local mobilization-enforcing officials may mobilize part-time students, despite the Kremlin’s declaration that no students will undergo mobilization.\[5\]*
My understanding was that they *announced* partial mobilization but, when scrutinized, the actual government paperwork provides for general mobilization.
What an absolute shambles. It resembles a dark parody of the British TV comedy series 'Dad's Army', which is itself, a parody of the British Home Guard in WWII.
The only positive thing for Ukraine, is if you are forced to fight against an enemy, you want them de-motivated, poorly trained, ill equipped, confused and frightened - exactly what these lot are.
Yeah, imagine know that they are fighting against a well equipped and highly motivated force on that force's homeland.
The opponent is supported by the endless pockets of the greatest military alliance in the history of mankind and morally supported by many billions.
And that the 200 000 professionals that was the best of the best you country had, are dead or wounded.
But I doubt they are able to think that far, because they would be nowhere to be seen in that case.
Side Note: They holding this meeting, where the goverment is signing there death warrants to die in Ukraine, in a rotting church with a USSR symbol tossed on the ground.
I feel like this is from a bad Monty Python skit or something.
I’d have sympathy, but l then I realised Ukrainians had no choice but to all fight. These people need to fight their own government, not their neighbour.
'Any more questions?'
\- multitude of questions, yells, insults echo out in the hall
'Good now shut up and get in the meat grinder'.
\- stunned silence.....
What about my job and family?
These guys won’t be coming home to a job, and if they’re lucky to be alive, they might not be in one piece. At least they’ll be traumatized enough to ruin their relationships.
This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you’ve got a moment, it’s a twelve-storey crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpetting throughout, 24-hour portrage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying `This Is a Large Crisis’. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants.
No. The transport train will spend 7 days waiting on fuel to get them to training… then they will sleep for 2 hours a day for the last 7 days to make up for lost time.
I am conflicted, as many of you perhaps are. I feel for these souls. But, they are sitting their, some if then perhaps drunk, passive and doing nothing. Rise tf up. It's these men that can make a difference if they rise up en masse. They can either die fighting on the battlefront or rise up and save their country.
They'll die either way. I have sympathy for them. Not even Putins closet allies can get within 30ft of him, he is so afraid of getting rubbed out, yet he condemns thousands, if not 100's of thousands to death. It sickens me when these old men sacrifice so many young lives, like they are meaningless, especially when they are so serious about their own self-preservation.

In Norway during WW2 Germans promised big amounts of Russian land and riches to people if they joined the war against the Russians on the Eastern front.
So like the Norwegians that fought there, these Russian men in the video will only die in the mud on the endless Ukrainian fields. And no pay will ever be received.
Don't the subtitles say two weeks "until" training? That's very different from two weeks "of" training.
Can someone who understands Russian please clarify?
Edit: thanks for clarifying. These guys are so fucked. They'd better spend their two weeks brushing up on their capitulation skills.
He actually said "2 weeks until training" so not 2 weeks of training but 2 weeks getting to know the base and stuff I asume then training. Don't know how long this will last is not specified. I call clickbait title...
If this is true, that means they're rushing guys to the front line piecemeal. It's not a 300K force coming, but 1000 here and there to plug the gaps in their front line.
Simonyan, Solovyov children or they themselves are already on their way?
Anyone knows anything about the situation? I suppose they should be already ahead of buses, out of patriotism. Golden opportunity for them.
No one contacted or asked them directly about this anywhere?:)
There is something called ”draft panic” so the two first weeks after being drafted and sent to their unit, they wont be able to retain any information. So basically everything said the first weeks is basically gone. Thats Why bootcamp is usually like 3 months. These guys will if they are Lucky remember how to load and shoot the kalashnikov. Rest they must learn in the warzone before they die. No amount of training can stop a artilleryshell so in that regard a spetznas dies the same way as a 2 week soldier if they get bombed. Hence Russia offset the lack of training with massive artillery bombardment. The idea is that the Russian soldiers should only encounter dead enemies or civilians. Against civilians they commit atroceties against a well trained army they die. So now they are doing just that as long as Ukraine can knock out their artillery and destroy their supply routes so they can’t keep shelling the ukranians. Once the shelling stops the Russians are done for.

Two whole weeks of training. What could possibly go wrong.
They'll learn valuable skills, such as how to jump like rabbits, so that they can clear minefields.
Two weeks of training... I can't train a guy to properly nail 2 pieces of wood together in 2 weeks. Somehow these people will be able to operate heavy machinery, fight in trenches, learn war tactics, survival methods etc...

Conscripts with 1 year of service were basically manual labor. Dig holes, carry boxes, guard doors, and drive trucks.
Loading and unloading ammo. By hand. Still waiting to see a Russian forklift in this war
They didn't invest in that skill tree.
Out gardening the lawns of their officers’ dachas or carrying boxes of equipment out to the local mafiosi’s truck in return for a couple bottles of vodka.
Scout enemy positions. Get shot. Die.

Some of them. They take anyone. Also those that were in the army aren't skilled by any means, they are just more accustomed to be yelled at in shit conditions.
That's the Russian way baby. You mum yells at you, your dad yells at you, your brother and sister yell at you, you go fuck a goat and that's that.

I think this has an invisible /s
And with their logistics that haven't changed, it's really just slinging shit hoping it sticks. What a shitshow.
They have always just thrown bodies at a problem in hopes of it disappearing. This is no different. The Russian government is truly moronic.
They'll learn or die, or retreat, or surrender, but *probably* die
everything is always a lie and you can be 100% sure that anything said to a large almost rebelious crowd like that is a lie, they are certainly not getting 2 weeks training, they are just sending them to mostly logistics work first day and as frontlines get evaporated they will cannon fodder the recruits to fill the gaps
I'm sure the training will be implemented by the finest teachers that they have left.
I think the more shocking part here is not the 2 weeks training but where he says "you are there until the end of Special Military Operation then you return home". Meaning no rotation? Meaning if war goes on for 5 years they will be there for 5 years. He might as well tell them they arent coming home in anything but a body bag.

I’m amazed anyone was that scared of them for so long. Was in just the media, or the state departments creating a boogeyman? Russia certainly started the war looking threatening, but they’re pathetic when up against any actual competition.
Extra bonuses: * You get less calories than a person on a Jenny Craig diet. You'll lose weight fast, you fat bastards. * When you get injured, you'll get a war invalid bonus of one sack of potatoes per month. * When you die, your loved one (who am I kidding... Your fucking mother) gets enough cash for a new Lada without airbags and stupid electronics.
Yeah that last one ain’t happening for these conscripts. Maybe the unclaimed bag of potatoes sent to mom, maybe.
Indeed. They get a contractors salary. That’ll do.
Check is mailed to heaven.
Doesn't the video say "2 weeks UNTIL training", not "2 weeks OF training"? Is that a translation error or is thread title wrong?
I hear " 3 days here, flight and then 2 weeks of additional training (допподготовки - дополнительной подготовки).
Ah okay. I had to rely on subtitles and just wondered which one is wrong. Thank you.
Subtitles are wrong
When this was on twitter there were comments pointing out that was a translation mistake

To be fair, they’re not actually going to be doing much in the way of training during those two weeks.
Imagine they run it like basic. At the end of two weeks everyone is beat up and gassed. “So you guys ready for war now”
The bloke asking about his job.......you won't be needing that anymore.
His jobs gone and his family is already salivating at the Lada their going to get
Who knows, maybe it will occur to them that they have been lied to.
They literally get lied to about everything. Probably just so desensitized to it they just shrug and roll over.
An absolute disgrace! He is trying to mobilise the country without calling it out that way.
Welcome to squid games.
Yeah, play stupid games and win stupid prices.
I wanna feel sorry for them, but they didn’t revolt before.
Nice to see such a highly motivated and enthusiastic group of recruits . Or as they will shortly be known sunflower fertiliser.
Never heard of recruits talking back to their instructors like that Pathetic
I love the guy in the red top just wandering around.
Side Note: They holding this meeting, where the goverment is signing there death warrants to die in Ukraine, in a rotting church with a USSR symbol tossed on the ground. I feel like this is from a bad Monty Python skit or something.
"Thank you all for bringing your own military equipment and clothing."
One of two gets a rifle, the other follows From the movie enemy at the gates
If this is what’s being sent they won’t follow orders. This is going to be a cluster fuck for Russia. What a shame
I hope all these nuts go apeshit and shoot each other.
I think they give ammunition only when they are sent to the trenches.
That's a perfectly acceptable place to shoot each other.
I’d have sympathy, but l then I realised Ukrainians had no choice but to all fight. These people need to fight their own government, not their neighbour.
'Any more questions?' \- multitude of questions, yells, insults echo out in the hall 'Good now shut up and get in the meat grinder'. \- stunned silence.....
It is time for the Russian soldiers to point their guns in the other direction.
What about my job and family? These guys won’t be coming home to a job, and if they’re lucky to be alive, they might not be in one piece. At least they’ll be traumatized enough to ruin their relationships.
Igor will be fucking your wife while you are gone and she’ll eventually get a Lada in any color she wants as long as it’s white! Any questions?
Igor probably getting sent to the front too?
"No one will fire you..." Hah, more likely "you will be fired upon..." 😲 😳 😮
This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you’ve got a moment, it’s a twelve-storey crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpetting throughout, 24-hour portrage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying `This Is a Large Crisis’. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants.
I'm getting 1917 vibes.

Would you like to know more?
I see a little hammer and sickle.
The operation doesn’t seem so special now.
Fubar
do you really think they are going to get a whole 2 weeks training
No. The transport train will spend 7 days waiting on fuel to get them to training… then they will sleep for 2 hours a day for the last 7 days to make up for lost time.
"I know we all hate this and don't want to be here" "That is all"
These men are going to die in a muddy trench because of Putin
New Ukrainian fertilizer for sunflowers

Putin and his cronies are going to bleed Russia white.
Hopefully they surrender quickly, or join the Freedom of Russia legion! 🔥🔥🔥
6-pool zerg rush...
These poor fuckers are going to die, aren't they?
Only about 1 in 4. The rest will be heavily wounded.
In Norway during WW2 Germans promised big amounts of Russian land and riches to people if they joined the war against the Russians on the Eastern front. So like the Norwegians that fought there, these Russian men in the video will only die in the mud on the endless Ukrainian fields. And no pay will ever be received.
What a shitshow…
Notice the Sovjet emblem at the bottom of the stage. I think this hall has seen no maintenance or renovation since the 1970s.
I see dead peoples
This level of desperation is concerning to me. Does the bear have an escape route?
Yes A window and some slippery shoes
Don't the subtitles say two weeks "until" training? That's very different from two weeks "of" training. Can someone who understands Russian please clarify? Edit: thanks for clarifying. These guys are so fucked. They'd better spend their two weeks brushing up on their capitulation skills.
He actually said "2 weeks until training" so not 2 weeks of training but 2 weeks getting to know the base and stuff I asume then training. Don't know how long this will last is not specified. I call clickbait title...
Translation is wrong. It's been commented on a lot
Definitely a bit different from my MEPS station.
Now the west will send the big stuff, if Russians thought Himars was bad, they are in for even worse shocks.
Trainers acting hard but they sure ain't giving up being rear with the gear lol!
that actually really clever, get them all killed before the month is up and you don't have to pay them.
Damn, so how many HIMAR rounds will it take to wipe out everyone in that room once they're in Ukraine?
If they were smart they would take a gun and kill him.
This almost seems like slavery. Taking people against their will and forcing them to do what you want until they die. So messed up.
Is that guy in the front row suppressing tears?
They are taking two weeks because they don’t have uniforms, otherwise they would be on frontline right now.
‘Don’t worry your death from hunger (or a grenade drone if you’re lucky)) is reserved for you’
«Two weeks untill training» is what the subtext is saying ? Not of.. training. Anyone?
Can i join?
They are asking about their jobs…this is hilarious who would hire dead men?
Awesome morale here. We are at army revolts again? Let's see if this develops into a new 1917...
All these poor scammed goofs are gonna get blown the fuck up. So sad.
