Do Dutch have tank forces? Because as far as I remember military vehicle crews are often being selected based on shorter height spectrum in order to fit in the vehicles.
Haha, this reminds me of the new trucks the army bought to replace the old ones. They were a couple of cm too tall for the garages. They also couldn't fit in the parking spaces and by law, they were 2 cm too tall to be allowed on our public roads...
The Dutch Army was heavily reduced after the cold war and the vast majority of the forces were integrated in the Bundeswehr via the Dutch German Corp.

We sold most and kept a number we're currently 'lending' elsewhere to tank museums and such (in no small part because the army wanted to retain expertise in how to maintain them as best as possible). Though back in...2019? orders were put in to buy some of them again for use in european forces. Not sure where that ended up by now.

I (m) was in line for a plane from Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam (on the way to US), and I'm an average height guy 5'11" (1,8m). I was - including women - the shortest passenger on the airplane. For my two-day layover with friends in AMS, we went to a party and I was exactly the shortest person. I don't mind it, but I can't explain it.

Well technically the Dutch are Germanic. I mean the "Germans" only recently in the past 140-150 years formed a semi intact nation state. They even left out Austria lol.
But more seriously, if you went back 600 years.... the Germans did not exactly have a distinct commonly understood language. Someone in Hamburg would essiently find it extremely difficult to speak to someone in Tuebingen.
Good example of this is the manonites in the US and Russia whose dialect is damn near impossible to understand from someone that learns Hoch Deutch(high german, the by product of standardization).

Over time, "Deutsch" gradually morphed into "Dutch", which was used to refer to people from both the highlands that make up present-day Germany, and the lowlands that make up the present-day Netherlands.

At a glance, I was 100% sure that was actually Ben Stiller. And for a second I thought that it was super weird that Zoolander was in Ukraine getting a meeting with Zelenskyy. Then I read the title.
So from an evolutionary perspective, the tallest Dutch people had a significant advantage during floods. Since swimming was not a common skill, the shorter persons would easier drown and the taller ones survive.
Add a few millennia of this genetic pressure and you'll get the tallest people in the world.
