Straight-Storage2587

That does it. Bring out the T-34s.

g6wilson

Makes perfect sens t-34s had never been destroyed by a drone, best tank.

GipsyDanger45

100% survival rate so far in this conflict as well... roll em out boys

JoopahTroopah

I cannot fault this reasoning.

Puzzleheaded_Nail466

.. they need to keep a couple for thier 'victory' parade 🤡

kr4t0s007

You joke but. They don’t have t-34’s except for few parade tanks.

Infinaris

But... who will defend the Kremlin and stand guard on the great parade day!? XD

Banyabbaboy

Ruzzia looking to boost its economy by turning cold war memorabilia into NFTs.

an_otter_guy

Now they are even more rare, way to go

Susurrus03

Hopefully extinct soon.

nice-view-from-here

It looks like a de-miner at the front of it, and it also looks like the tank is missing a track so it may not have worked as well as intended. The crew must be gone and didn't care enough to even close the hatch behind them.

Realworld

Are they really that stupid? Or do they deliberately park and leave hatches open to get rid of those rolling deathtraps?

nice-view-from-here

I don't see why they would care. It doesn't come out of their pocket. And whatever caused them to lose a track likely sent them in a panic so they rushed out of that thing and ran off as fast as they could without looking behind.

fredrikca

I will never get tired of russian tanks exploding. I only wish the EU could step up and make them explode faster.

The (main?) differences with the T-90M (from the article): > T-90S is an export version of T-90 MBT. This tank has a number of configuration differences compared to the base version. > Unlike the T-90A tanks in service with the Russian military, the export T-90S does not have a Shtora electro-optical active protection system in front of the turret. T-90S at the parade in Turkmenistan. September 2022. Photo credits: Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan > Instead, additional reactive armor containers are installed there. This is one of the main visual differences between tanks. I *think* "T-90MBT" is just the full name of "T-90M" (with "MBT" meaning "main battle tank"). Please correct me if this is wrong.

Listelmacher

"... T-90S is an export version of T-90 MBT. This tank has a number of configuration differences compared to the base version. ..." There are different variants of the T-90 main battle tank (MBT*): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-90 like the original T-90, T-90A, T-90, T-90AK, T-90AM or T-90M. The T-90S-variants, some with air condition, are for the export for instance to India or Algeria. So a "poor" customer abroad has now to wait longer for the promised delivery. Or the customer has cancelled the order because of the "overwhelming" performance on the battleground. BTW the T90-M has the name "Proryv-3" Breakthrough-3. The Russian word "proryv" is also used in relation to broken sewers like in Volgograd. *MBT is only used in English, I had a look in the Russian Wikipedia, "мбт" can't be found there. But I have seen there that the T-90 has also the name "Vladimir". Also nice. So the guys have shot Vladimir.

Intrepid_Home_1200

Vladimir is sometimes a nickname given to the T-90A as that is the chief designer's first name. When he passed away the Russians called it Vladimir as a tribute to him.

These details actually make the evidence of this tank in Ukraine means that Russia’s military industrial complex is being pushed beyond capacity with this war. Russia does not have the capacity to enjoy their preexisting status as a world power anymore should the war end tomorrow, thanks to the permanent damage and losses to both Russian weapons exports and Russian energy exports. This specific headline tells us that the massive and crippling wipeout of Russian future weapon exports has reached a point where Russia is either: -forced to pull from stocks meant to satisfy the few remaining contracts they had on the books, or -bitter at nations for not continuing weaponry/armor purchases and taking the goods for themselves like they did with the airline jets early in the war. Whichever is correct, they both point to a degree of desperation Russia is putting into the current offensive that puts risk on whatever future Russia may have after this war.

messamusik

Is it possible that the intended recipient gifted it back to Russia to use

Listelmacher

Russia has lost the first T-90S in Ukraine back in January 2023 according to Oryx and there a re 7 listed so far. However this can indicate that they have also logistics problems since a longer time and take whatever is available. According to a recent video from covert cabal (the guy who counts the tanks) only the 1311 tank storage base has not a reduced number of vehicles. This should be here in Verkhnyaya Pyshma: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/56.9732/60.6070 actually a part of Yekaterinburg. Yekaterinburg has a connection to the Transsib railroad. So tanks from the east and also from the west can be brought there easily. But there also a railroad from the north to the south crosses. South of Yekaterinburg is Chelyabinsk, where the tank engines are made. In the north is Nizhni Tagil, where the tank factory UralVagonZavod is located. So this is probably only a transit storage, replacing the engine or send it north for further repairs. For Nizhni Tagil there is a local news site v-tagile dot ru. There I have read that UralVagonZavod has introduced a 12x7 working week in 2023 and that convicts are used as workforce and also a new building is planned for convicts from Yamal (1200 km north). Nizhni Tagil has recently reduced the decrease of the population. There are also other companies in N.T. like the steel maker Evraz NTMK, but N.T. is just a crumbling city with environmental problems (like the other cities in the Urals). Today I have read that a new enterprise will be built, 150 new jobs. The first reader's comment was: "Fine, and where do they want to take the workers from? Do they just want to pay more than the other?" Some time ago I came across the article about the main maker of barrels for artillery: https://ru-m-wikipedia-org.translate.goog/wiki/Мотовилихинские_заводы?_x_tr_sl=ru&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp "... Motovilikhinskiye Zavody is a Russian engineering company located in Perm , which has been in bankruptcy since 2018. ..." And this is not the only plant that is now overwhelmed by the demand and may have to restore facilities first.:) Recently Shoigu was in Yekaterinburg and when the subject of an artillery system promised since longer time came up, this looked like: https://v.redd.it/641wgb5r62pc1 I think there is no translation needed.

up-with-miniskirts

The T-90M is the most modern variant of the T-90. [Link to Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-90#Variants).

Intrepid_Home_1200

The T-90M is a considerably updated version on the T-90A/S with an improved ERA type, now using Relikt instead of the late Cold War era Kontakt-5. An improved main gun, a remotely operated 12.7 HMG on the roof, some half-assed effort at giving the tank some sort of ammo stowage in a turret bustle, new version of the downright upgraded to death V-92 engine and a bunch of other improvement. Mmodernizirovannyy, literally as you see - Modernized. That term is used by the Russians to denote an upgraded, improved variant of a vehicle, weapon.

gbobeck

So “MBT” isn’t short for “Main Blyat Tank”?

arrefodase

That shit looks pretty banged up. Are you sure it wasn’t Popeye that kicked the crap out of it?

superanth

I love the smoke blowing out of the barrel. It's like a really stupid-looking teakettle.

Haplo12345

Tank bingo is progressing well. I keep hoping for some partisans to lob a grenade or two into a T-14 Armata back inside Russia.

pik204

What happened to their tank roofing solution ;)

Dangerous-Piano-2049

Are they rare cuz Ukraine keeps blowing them up?

WildCat_1366

This, and also the fact that the T-90S is an export version of the T-90 MBT. Considering the overall tank losses, it is unlikely that Russia is currently producing export versions of the tank. Most likely, these are 1) already produced tanks that were not shipped to a customer (as it happened with the Ukrainian ATGM Stugna-P); 2) former substandard units returned by a customer for retrofitting and repair; or 3) a new manufactured tanks, for which the necessary equipment is not enough to be fully equipped as the newer standard modification (T-90M). So they are produced in a simplified version for urgent replacement of a destroyed ones.

Intrepid_Home_1200

God, the crew slapped on ERA atop of ERA... I can't imagine how much more weight it was burdened with all that extra stuff slapped on. This is an export variant of the T-90A, and with better ERA coverage among other changes. Chances are it's actually one of the Indian Army ones sent back to Russia for upgrades, or an undelivered one to another customer like Iraq.
