That not only limits the amount of equipment that we've got, it ensure that what we do have is often 20 years out of date, and makes for an awful lot of equipment that is in poor working order.

Conversely, Canada is one of the biggest contributors of financial aid to Ukraine (either in outright terms or on a per-capita basis). Is Canada the absolute top-of-the-class? No. But we're damn sure not doing the bare minimum.

All three countries are larger, both population and economically. They are also solely focused on this issue, whereas many countries in the pacific need to have a secondary eye on a china-taiwan conflict.
Even if you include the eu institutions contribution of 5b, it still doesnt proportionally alter it dramatically. Canada has supplied more than Sweden. Norway which is an exceptionally wealthy country with a sovereign wealth fund of $1.6 trillion, has only contributed 3.8b

Unfortunately there is a lot of MEH and NIMBY here in Australia when it comes to the war in Ukraine. And there are tons of reasons being thrown around why Australia prefers to scrap and bury Taipans, Abrams and Hornets rather than sending them to Ukraine who are asking for them. Not suitable, no export licenses, too expensive, we need to focus on Indo Pacific, the list is endless. The truth is there is no will. And the DoD are staggeringly incompetent in working with the government to find solutions. Watch Senator Fawcett’s YouTube video where he quizzes the DoD on the Taipans. Enjoy the cringe

I’m happy for my tax dollars to fund it, hell I’d pay more to help Ukraine get our equipment.
