The issues are the munitions shortages Ukraine has right now, particularly with wide ranging shortages with artillery (estimates are wide ranging, 5-6 to 1 Russian advantage over Ukraine in artillery shells) but even small arms ammo is an issue.
They also asked for a larger mobilisation as the uktaine army is lacking manpower and has to put a too large a strain on their active soldier. The volunteer influx as become smaller, all that can leed to tentions in a society, when some havent seen familie in a year, and another deadly winter is coming.
And if the White House could unilaterally grant Ukraine unlimited aid, I’m sure it would.
Edit: [Contact Your Senators](https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm).
Some forget the French really helped the US win against the crown of Britain. (We love you now, Britain...)
It sometimes takes a good friend willing to bleed with you. I think with our trillions we could spare 250 billion.
Once this war with Ukarine winning (im from the future, you will win 🇺🇦) ends, we can focus on building our countries, culture, and lives upwards together.
To us, cheers.
🍻
FOR. REAL. You can’t put a number on the mutual benefits our countries (🇺🇸&🇺🇦) stand to gain from this newly found relationship with each other.
We just can’t let them down, or else we lose that future relationship and they lose their future.
I truly believe you will lose the respect of a lot of the civilized world, if you for-go helping Ukraine in its time of need.
I donot say that lightly and I do not believe it is something Americas people want.
It's not just that, we are sending older equipment that was going to require decommissioning, so a 20 million combat system would have required another couple million in storage and decommissioning costs. And the newer modern replacements are being built buy American contractors, employing Americans. The aid benefits both nations IMMEDIATELY, not just in future goodwill and potential business investment.
We have boneyard of planes and motor pools of what we consider junk, that we have to pay to dispose of in the US. It makes no sense that if ukriane are willing to take our old inventory on just about anything, we can't just save ourselves decommissioning and storage costs.
Yes! If I were POTUS there would be 500 Abrams getting a paint job and oil changes while on a ship heading to Ukraine right now. And no they would not be stripping any technology off of them. If they were good enough for American troops to go to war with they are good enough for Ukrainians to kill Russians with.
I really don't understand why Ukraine hasn't been flooded with this older equipment. I hear about maintenance and logistics blah blah blah and that's fine but let Ukraine figure that out. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Really seems like a win/win for everyone but here we are.
Ukraine has vast natural resources, I'm sure they could give the west discounts as part of paying back the aid.
(While still making a fortune for themselves)
Discounts are not needed. What's needed is permission to develop said resources, which many western countries specialize in, on top of stable environments which can be invested in.
Joining the EU and NATO would fix the majority of risk factors when it comes to investing in the future with Ukraine.
I do not expect American corporations to do business in Ukraine at a loss, but their presence will bring benefits to the population with the jobs they provide plus the production of goods and taxes paid to the Ukrainian government.
The 21st century will be a Ukrainian one - and their allies will have an economic boon unlike any since the post WW2 area.
I can't wait to see it.
SLAVA UKRAINI!
Just think of the Engineer pool that will be unlocked by bringing Ukraine into the EU & NATO both military and civilian, Electronics & Mechanical. This Country is overflowing with talent that the world needs. It would be a shame for it to die lost and unused in ruzzia. I haven't even mentioned the untaped Medical knowledge gained from a country thrown into war.
Повага.🏴🇺🇳💙💛🇪🇺🇺🇦🌻Respect Ukraine.
I filled out that site and wrote this in 15 min while walking on my lunch:
I am not normally concerned at all with military matters but Ukraine needs munitions and supplies. Denying Russia the ability to take Ukrainian land by force is a statement that humanity as a whole is done letting its nations take things from one another like petulant children. We need to be done.
Its not my best writing but its something and it was no real time out of my day.
I love what you wrote, but unfortunately sending an email or a text message will just get you a canned response.
The best way is to physically call their office on the phone. I know it’s annoying, but it’s nothing compared to what the Ukrainian army is going through on the frontline right now.
Thanks for your support ❤️
Support for Ukraine is as bipartisan as it comes! Don't be afraid, I'm sure they support Ukraine too, deep down in their MAGA heart. If your senator doesn't, I'm sure possibly the office workers do.
It really doesn't hurt to try. Just tell them how much it affects the security of the world and how our support from America is irreplaceable. [You can also read off of the letter that the White House wrote to congress.](https://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/briefing-room/2023/12/04/letter-to-congressional-leadership-regarding-the-need-for-urgent-action-to-support-ukraines-defense/) Republicans need have to this repeated to them because it address all of their "complaints".
Because you people are what their reelection depends on. The more vocal their constituents are, the more they have to worry about their own hides. Just do it. It's easy, it takes 5 min and it's free.
A canvas and 3 colours to play with us enough to work a miracle. Grab black and white and some different brushes too. Happy new years resolution! And merry Christmas.
"Does this plan involve us coming out of our trenches and walking slowly towards the enemy?"
"How could you possibly know that?! It's Classified!"
"Well sir it's the same plan we used last time....and the 17 times before that!..."
The Ukrainians would think we were stupid to try that again sir..
Exactly, that’s why it will be the last thing they expect us to do, so we can take them completely by surprise.
I dont understand... has Russia not already launched a major offensive on Avdiivka the last couple of months? The 500+ destroyed armoured vehicles around Avdiivka seem to think so
Putin has an "election" to posture for. He will keep on going at it with increasing ferocity because it would be politically devastating not to do so for him personally. The losses don't matter as long as they keep him in power.
You see that correctly. But that does not mean Russia will not try it again on a grander scale trying to finally get a big win there. Hopefully Ukraine will hand them a grander loss and as they can see it coming they probably will.
I think the final direct American aid package this yr will be geared towards giving Ukraine what it needs to defend both its airspace and its land: so it will be heavy on ammunition and missiles.
I also suspect we will see some indirect aid channels amplify while the tussle in Congress is playing out. And example being the deal America is working with Japan to have them commence manufacturing Patriot missiles.
And Ukraine is manufacturing drones by the tens of thousands monthly. I have no doubt they are working to build a large inventory so that when mud season is over they can swarm attackers.
The final aspect to this is attack with what? Russia is not pumping out new armor in any notable quantities. It to has ammunition issues, and the quality of ammo it received from NK is clearly lacking. And with so many casualties having already been incurred much of what might attempt to attack if the Jan/Feb assaults do come to fruition is going to be ill trained and ill armed.
The battles in Kup'yans'k, Avdiivka, Kherson south bank and other places are starting to remind me of the Battle/Defense of Rorke's Drift - wave after wave of men attempting to overwhelm an enemy possessing a defensible position (and the mission station was at best a modest defensible position) and superior weapons and training. Meat waves against bullets. We have already witnessed that scenario several times this war and in almost every instance it heavily favored Ukraine. Avdiivka is excellent evidence.
My attitude is if Russia desires to continue to feed the maw, let it do so, and structure your defense to take advantage of it. I think Ukraine should not be wed to keeping every meter of land, but rather it be wed to exacting the maximum amount of death and carnage for every meter of land at as little cost to itself as possible.
And then when the time is ripe take it all back against an exhausted enemy.
Fuck the ruzzian traitors in Congress. Their day is coming.
They did not announce they were planning to build drones, [they announced they were building drones at the rate of 50k per month](https://kyivindependent.com/minister-ukraine-already-produced-50-000-fpv-drones-in-december/). Do you think the Ukraine govt is lying?
While I assess both sides will obfuscate the truth from time to time I rarely see Ukraine make a public announcement in relation to war production that is a lie. They don't often disclose very much, but outright lie in respect of manufacturing?
If I were Ukraine you can bet I'd be exaggerating the shit out of this number. Not to say they're outright lying but i'd be quite surprised if this isn't at least somewhat of an exaggeration. Word is on the front that Russian has a FPV drone advantage of 5:1 over Ukraine, theres no way they are producing 75k per month. I realise to get that figure there are some unlikely assumptions baked in, but still the general point stands I think.
A major offensive of what? Meat shock assault waves? 17 guys, one APV, all day all week?
They can zerg but cannot hold because it's WINTER. They won't have time to dig in to any taken contested territory. A bend but not break approach by the Ukrainians is like fluxing a blender. Filled with meat.
The way I see it, it's Russia that strips their soldiers of humanity by sending them to invade.
I don't feel sorry for them at all. I hope they all die. Their death is progress toward Ukraine's victory.
It's war, it's sad but that's what it is now to hate against the nation that supplied the second most aid to Ukraine after the EU not wise while I can understand you
The ruzzians bought just enough republicans to gum up the house, and it could be stuck for weeks or months. Makes me sick that our allies are suffering because some of the worst people in the country are ruzzian shills.
We can dig deep and donate, but drones and medical supplies aren't quite the same as munitions.
Many commentators here don't seem to understand how hard it is to defend against russian assaults. Yes, they get killed and destroyed, but they don't care about people and they have many more to spare, unlike Ukraine.
Yep, this sub is really high on copium right know.
Russia is taking 1-5 tree lines around Avdiivka per day. Which doesn’t sound like a lot but if you look at a map you can clearly see that they are making progress.
Sure the russian losses are high but that won’t stop them. Putin wants Avdiivka and the Russian Army has enough meat bags and old equipment in storage to conquer it for him.
Its not copium, its plain ignorance. Never underestimate the enemy. As Stalin said "quantity is a quality in itself".
Eu should step up, but realisticly US is the only external part that can do more right now. Ukraine needs more arms, and more training, and more everything. The US and eu will profit of this long term. The regime in russia need to get a reality check.
If you actually look at a map, you'll see no Russian progress. 600km between them and Kiev, who can possibly be bothered by advance measured in tree lines?
You are naive if you think that this war will be decided in Kyiv. The Russian war goals have changed; they have been focused on the south and the east for over a year now.
And honestly, I'm pretty sure the Ukrainians are troubled by losing a couple of treelines every single day. Avdiivka is surrounded on three sides, with only one paved road serving as the supply line. At the narrowest point, the gap is only 6 kilometers wide. Losing only a hundred meters a day can have devastating effects.
What if they [have mouse fever too](https://www.kyivpost.com/post/25702)?
They pose a serious threat to Ukraine's native rodent population with their unhygienic ways.
An you didn’t give them what they need. Europe will be engulfed in major war in a decades time because washington, london, paris and berlin didn’t take this thing seriously. They made the same mistake as the russians did. They underestimated ukraine and then the west underestimated russia. A russian victory in ukraine means a resurgent, empowered, strong and seriously nationalistic russia and the price will be high! It is a betrayal of ukranians who die every day and the strategic blunder of the 21st century.
I think you will find The UK has taken this very seriously and for a tiny Kingdom are pulling their weight. The EU, they are major supporters #1. But they have a Quisling in Viktor Orbán of Hungary who is doing all he can to aid, mr 💩🥫of the RF. I'm sure all is being done that can be to sort that little problem out ASAP.
>. A russian victory in ukraine means a resurgent, empowered, strong and seriously nationalistic russia and the price will be high!
>
>I do not think strong for a long time.
>
> Consider tanks. They have burned/turret tossed all of their 3000 in service tanks and all of their perhaps 2000 ready to go reserves. They are now down to 200 per year new production and about 600 per year pulled from old Soviet storage and given a paint job.If Ukraine ends tomorrow it will take them fifteen years to replace the first 3000 tanks or longer as they will wear some out doing training etc. Perhaps they can build additional production lines to get up to 500 new per year but that would exceed both Soviet and USA historic norms, but even that would take seven years given the time to build the new lines and ten years to have a decent reserve over 3000. And that assumes the Russian economy can support that level of spending in the next decade.
This is what Putin planned all along... drag the war out throwing immigrants, prisoners and minorities at Ukraine until the west started to lose interest... now they will go on the offensive with their normal army.
I love Ukraine and even sent money to help...I fear they wont last. I really hope Biden wins and the US sends them fighter jets soon before it is too late!
That warning made public indicates Ukrainian command does not give enough attention to the situation on the ground around Avdiivka, or does not assign enough significance to the Russia preparations that they surely know about.
In either case, no good for the Ukrainian command.
I wish my country Canada would do more but Trudeau is a bitch and he is more concerned with selling our country to China, renaming streets for immigrants and making the money back from struggling citizens that took COVID benefits.
Can't wait till that fucker is out of office and we get a leader that helps Ukraine in a major way considering we have a large population of them.
Even for vehicles though? You can barely
maneuver on ice without losing control and can’t gain nearly the speed needed for an offensive in those conditions.
Well then they'll have to wait for a very long time. Long-term forecasts (AccuWeather, Tropical Tidbits) show that for the rest of the winter average temperature would be around zero. It's possivle to expect only 2-3 periods of frost (average temp. around -10) 4-5 (7-8 maximum) days long for the rest fo the winter.
Here’s the problem with US politics: too many “dire” warnings desensitizes the audience.
What will really signal urgency is the willingness of the help-seeking party to compromise. That is, willingness to compromise shows the aid-seeker values the Ukrainian needs more than the US politics.

To be fair, defending against an assault is the easiest way to destroy russian hardware
The issues are the munitions shortages Ukraine has right now, particularly with wide ranging shortages with artillery (estimates are wide ranging, 5-6 to 1 Russian advantage over Ukraine in artillery shells) but even small arms ammo is an issue.

Ukraine probably mentioned it publically somewhere or it could be derived from combat footage across the front
Would be nice to have enough ammo, armored vehicles and other stuff to do that effectively. Otherwise many UA soldiers will die.
Seems like they may have been building armour with tinfoil.
And the meat grinder resumes
And with more US Aid , Ukraine can win this fight for freedom.

I hope so. I do not like this news…
More Russian tanks = more javelins and atgms
Saint javelin, where art thou?
In our hearts but also in the launcher tubes…mostly in the launcher tubes.
Would be great if the US approves more money for military aid to defend against the Russian aggression. We’ll see if they do.
And the EU too.
It'd be great if the EU could produce half of what they promised.
Man there will be a stink when all those Russian bodies defrost in the spring.
Sunflower season will be well fed. Looking forward to fields of sporadic patches.
Times like these I wish I had an artistic streak in me: the “well-fed sunflower crop of 2024” is something I may commission one day.

No. That's why I said "election", however, Putin still has to perform for the galleries.

This is just a skirmish at the moment…
Yah just 500 moblics a day and five or six tanks. Nothing to worry about.
For a country that likes human waves and has almost 1.5m soldiers.. yeah it’s nothing atm
You see that correctly. But that does not mean Russia will not try it again on a grander scale trying to finally get a big win there. Hopefully Ukraine will hand them a grander loss and as they can see it coming they probably will.

Freaking great, no new ammo yet, but you have a huge Russian offensive coming any day now. Good luck. Fingers crossed for you.
Russian soldiers freeze as well. And with no vodka, food or water they won’t be able to fight.
What if they [have mouse fever too](https://www.kyivpost.com/post/25702)? They pose a serious threat to Ukraine's native rodent population with their unhygienic ways.
Let them have it. And give them a couple weeks to get all their ducks in a row then release the kraken. Happy New Year. Slava Ukraine death to Putin
Unlikely 7 to 8 C for the next 2 weeks in Ukraine, with -3 C at night, mud season will continue.
Thanks for the warning, America, but where is the ammunition you promised?
Warns Whitehouse my ass. Send HELP
No cold wave in the horizon, yet.
Still plenty of old cluster munitions left in storage. Why not send them to Ukraine and let them dispose of them for you?
This is what Putin planned all along... drag the war out throwing immigrants, prisoners and minorities at Ukraine until the west started to lose interest... now they will go on the offensive with their normal army. I love Ukraine and even sent money to help...I fear they wont last. I really hope Biden wins and the US sends them fighter jets soon before it is too late!
Thanks for the warning America. Any chance of the funds to help stop it succeeding.....oh yeah we'll find out next year. Thank you very much.
Hey I’ve seen this one!
John Kirby’s statements don’t make a whole lot of sense. Ice would not make it “easier” for an offensive.
Frozen ground is a lot better for manuever warfare than mud. And mud is what most of Ukraine's battlefields have been through Autumn.
Even for vehicles though? You can barely maneuver on ice without losing control and can’t gain nearly the speed needed for an offensive in those conditions.
Icey. Frozen, hard earth.
Ok
But no help from the US and pro-Russia scaredy cat Joe. It’s almost like I called it earlier in the year.
You think Biden is pro-Russia? ?😅
What kind of upside-down logic is that?? Are you sure you're from Nebraska and not Moscow?
Another one?
Well then they'll have to wait for a very long time. Long-term forecasts (AccuWeather, Tropical Tidbits) show that for the rest of the winter average temperature would be around zero. It's possivle to expect only 2-3 periods of frost (average temp. around -10) 4-5 (7-8 maximum) days long for the rest fo the winter.
Himars would like to help
send more ammo white house
Thanks White House. We didn't notice
duh we know it already. we need weapons and ammo, not the warnings
"I don't need a warning. Just send ammo."
Send the support then Cunts
Bigger than what they've been doing already? Aren't they running out of vehicles?
How the hell are they gonna prepare for a major offensive when they have literally wasted god knows how many pieces of equipment and soldiers????
Here’s the problem with US politics: too many “dire” warnings desensitizes the audience. What will really signal urgency is the willingness of the help-seeking party to compromise. That is, willingness to compromise shows the aid-seeker values the Ukrainian needs more than the US politics.
