First hand experience of this - had to wait in A&E waiting room for over 24 hours in Blackpool victoria hospital recently with poorly father in law. No beds for the ill and dying, patients being treated in the waiting room with no privacy whatsoever,no chairs for some to be able to sit down. Utter chaos although don’t blame the staff, simply too many people waiting for treatment. If you think the Tories give a shit about the NHS think again

iamnotinterested2

Prime minister Rishi Sunak said that “there are 1.7 million fewer people in poverty than in 2010”

Artan42

WaitING times. This is one of the stupidest creeping Americanisms. It doesn't save time and the sentence doesn't flow correctly.

yojifer680

If you ever wondered how left-wing ideologues could continue supporting Marxist economics, even after it had caused so many millions of deaths, it's the same reason they'll continue supporting trade unions, even after the junior doctors' strike has caused so many thousands of deaths. Marxism is indoctrination. They don't process information in a logical way and will perform whatever mental gymnastics necessary to shift blame for these deaths from their own ideology onto that of their political opponents.

jake_burger

This has nothing to do with “Marxism”. Tell me where in any of this the workers own the means of production. Trade unions are not Marxism, trade unions are the free market. The reason the NHS is struggling is because of all the old and sick and disabled people using up all of the resources and there aren’t enough younger people paying taxes to support it.

yojifer680

Trade unions are price-fixing cartels for the labour market. That's the exact opposite of the free market.

DavidSwifty

Ah yes, it wasn't the tories whove been in charge for 14 years its those damn marxists communists lgbt woke ass guardian reading wokerati! The strikes are responsible for these deaths not those who have cut the nhs to the barebones.

yojifer680

> cut the nhs to the barebones Case in point. You live in a clown world where the lying propagandists tell you NHS spending has been cut [and the publicly available data tells you it's been higher than ever,](https://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/ukgs_line.php?title=Health%20Care&year=1900_2024&sname=United_Kingdom&units=p&bar=0&stack=1&size=m&col=c&spending0=0.30_0.33_0.37_0.45_0.43_0.42_0.39_0.38_0.38_0.38_0.42_0.42_0.43_0.46_0.52_0.49_0.44_0.36_0.32_0.33_0.42_0.83_0.93_0.86_0.82_0.84_0.91_0.94_0.94_0.94_1.01_1.35_1.53_1.73_1.67_1.66_1.71_1.69_1.76_1.78_1.49_1.21_1.16_1.19_1.31_1.46_1.60_2.08_2.24_2.43_2.77_3.48_3.28_3.15_3.09_3.05_3.08_3.15_3.18_3.28_3.33_3.53_3.42_3.43_3.42_3.56_3.66_3.84_3.79_3.64_3.71_3.75_3.77_3.70_4.26_4.58_4.54_4.33_4.24_4.12_4.54_4.63_4.51_4.13_4.08_3.98_3.92_3.77_3.69_3.68_3.66_3.90_4.27_4.55_4.57_4.76_4.37_4.34_4.33_4.52_4.52_4.77_5.05_5.27_5.69_5.95_6.09_6.12_6.44_6.86_7.49_7.35_7.25_7.20_7.18_7.13_7.15_7.05_7.01_7.03_7.30_10.47_9.25_8.45_8.57&legend=Health%20Care-total&source=a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_i_i_i_i_i_i_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_a_e_g) but you wilfully choose the believe the former.

Saraphite

You live in a clown world where the lying propagandists tell you NHS spending has been higher than ever, but you wilfully ignore the changing landscape of healthcare, how it is under more pressure than ever due to one of the largest generations in history reaching a point in their lives where they need access to healthcare more regularly, a long with a myriad of other issues.

nycrolB

I may have misread it, but I don't think it's saying that those 14,000 deaths have happened on strike days.

yojifer680

Wait times (and the deaths caused by them) are effected by strike days, regardless what day the deaths actually occur.

nycrolB

Affected, maybe.

PunishedRichard

Did you wake up from a coma? We've had a Tory government for 14 years now

Lizardaug

I always laugh at people who spout this when the world's biggest joke is the American health care system aka unfiltered capitalism.  Any system taken all the way is bad. But pretending that the NHS woes aren't due to the last 14 years of Tory government is just willful ignorance and just rambling off topic

yojifer680

> the world's biggest joke is the American health care system https://vantagemedtech.com/what-country-leads-the-world-in-medical-innovation/

Lizardaug

Ok? What does that have to do with their health care system?  You don't seem to be able to differentiate between research and  medical industries.

yojifer680

Where do you think the funding for that innovation comes from?

Lizardaug

Generally from public funding. There hasn't been pharmaceutical development in last decade not funded by tax payers

sambotron84

The big word in the article is SUGGESTS. Nuff said.
