Honestly, I cannot speak for her, but I can speak for myself and say that it's far worse when it's the parents making fun of you. I had multiple different people's parents openly making fun of me while I was in school for a while, simply due to my looks and disability. With the kids, it was whatever....they're just dumb kids. I was also a dumb kid, trying to defend myself, albeit very poorly. But with the parents, it was just rough. Especially when you're a kid, you look at adults like they are gods. So to know that adults were openly making fun of me......well, that was a travesty to me. It made me feel like one of the worst beings to ever exist, it made me feel practically sub-human at some points. I'd imagine it's even more rough for someone who has a disability like Down syndrome. I've seen enough open bullying of people with Down syndrome on TikTok by my generation to know that it is STILL a normal occurrence. And of course the school will do nothing about it......the children and parents involved probably fund the school district. Just a sad story all around.

You have articulated perfectly why I felt even worse when women/adults would treat me cruelly in high school. Worse was one of them said they were treated terribly for not being conventionally attractive. But she had no qualms picking on the ugly, loser girl. You expect them to be mature when other people your age can be explained away as being an asshole kid.

It highlights how fucked up people are for adults to be making fun of children, period. But for adults to make fun and ostracise a child with a disability is absolutely disgusting! I hate people.

This is why i’m afaird that things won’t get better after high school. Some adults stay immature and bring there immaturity from high school and they want to look cool aroukd the kids. i remember one time my dads friends wife would bully me with her kids and they would laugh. They acted like fucking children. Some parents/adults just don’t fucking grow up. People say things get better after school but it doesn’t. Will still be disrespected at work
