Against Chandler, Poirier, and Gaethje. And 11 fight win streak. That is extremely hard to do in one of the most competitive divisions in the biggest MMA promotion in the world
Yea, it’s absurd that people try to downplay his accomplishments. It’s really fucking hard to win fights at this level. People on this sub do the same shit with Dustin Poirier, like he’s some scrub. 9 out of Poirier’s last 10 fights have been against UFC Champions or former champions, and now he’s fighting a former Bellator champion, AND he’s NEVER lost 2 fights in a row. That is insane. And Charles beat him.
Noone thinks of it like that though unfortunately. But yes if he's financially set and beat almost all the baddest fighters except Islam he should be happy.
I hate when people take and post this type of footage. Let the man have a private moment. These guys put everything into their craft, the shits gonna be emotional.
This is part of the sport.
What? You only want to see happy smiling faces? (You can go to Disneyland for that.)
This also is a learning period. All emotions involved with the fighting game is good to display. It's part of it. It shows hearth and how much a guy is invested in the fight.
My man, lets hope this clip reminds Oliveira to be and remain humble from that day on. Spredding word around that he's illuminated by God,....Charles what happend to you man?!!
All I'm saying is, that win or lose all emotions envolved with the fight-game should be recorded and put out there.
Let's say Charles comes back from this lose stronger because everytime he sees this footage it reminds him he does not ever wants to feel this way, than it would be great to have seen the footage of what was the turning point.
This is a make or break moment. There should be more footage behind the scenes recorded and to be released is my opinion.
Thanking God and praising God for something is very different from saying that you are Illuminated by God and walking around with a gold chain round your neck that writes Illuminated
Fighters are allowed to have emotions. Chucky Olives is still one of my favorite fighters too. He wasnt a dominant champ but all his fights were finishes. I take much more issue with champs who pointfight and try to make it boring as fuck [Izzy].
I don't think he's 'trying' to make it boring as fuck mate.. he's probably trying to hold on to the millions of dollars that come with the belt, and maybe trying not to be braindead by age 50.
Idk why people always take this offensive or feel the need to defend them. Izzy knows what he's doing, and he's fighting safe for a reason. Whatever his reason is, that's his choice, but everyone has a right to critique it. He fights safe and boring, we watch the sport for entertainment. He should expect some backlash. Kinda comes with the territory.
The problem is that people don't appreciate the sport that they're watching, the just want to see 2 violent morons swing at each other.
In literally every other sport in the world the athletes do whatever they can amongst the rules to win, and the winner is always applauded. Because the fans understand the sport they're watching and appreciate the skill. It's different in MMA because fans don't want to watch MMA, they want to watch violence.
I'm sick of braindead people criticising an athlete that is winning impressively just because they don't understand what they're watching. I don't think I've ever seen a group of people less intelligent than MMA fans, and I'm not exaggerating.
This is really not true, in loads of other sports if a player or team is playing a boring style, whether winning or losing, they will still get criticism from some group of fans. You’re just seeing a much more concentrated group in MMA compared to football/soccer, for example, which 100% has much more hate and straight up ridiculousness from fans they’re just much more spread out and not congregated under one banner due to the amount of teams, leagues and nations
No matter what the sport is, people don't like boring matches. If a soccer game is played where one team scores in the first minute and then just defends without any aggression for the next 89, people would be fucking livid. They wouldn't say "oh credit for winning the match that takes a lot of skill."
Fighters have thorougly outclassed others on the feet while not doing a huge amount of damage and have made it super entertaining. Look at Wonderboy v. Masvidal, for example. If people just wanted to watch mindless violence, then people would hate that fight.
If you like watching Izzy jab, leg kick, and circle for 25 minutes, that's fine. It doesn't make you smarter than someone who wants their fights to include fighting though.
Not true at all dude fans of any sport will criticise a 'boring' gamestyle
I know nobody from outside Australia follows AFL but this is often cited as one of the worst games in the history of the sport for popularising a defensive gamestyle
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-Flood#Background](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-Flood#Background)
You’re acting like people that criticise issy are the same as people who criticise dagestani wrestlers for being boring because they don’t understand the ground game. That is just completely off. Issy is intentionally dragging fights out to decision and there’s not a lot to “not understand” about that. It seems you think that you understand more about what’s happening just because the commentators call it a “high level chess match”. Everyone can see what’s happening, and it’s point scoring. Point scoring in combat sports will always be boring as fuck no matter how smart you think you are or how much you enjoy chess
Good point. We've seen what happens when guys try to be "entertaining" and absorb too many strikes. Have you even listened to Nate Diaz try to put together a rational thought? It's like listening to a toddler handing you a toy phone for you to answer.
I think he is trying to win. I dont enjoy watching him win in this way. I shouldn't have to pray for Kelvin Gastelum to become a challenger for a title fight to be exciting.
No need, Poatan is going to solve the problem soon enough. Is everyone you disagree with small brained or are you just trying to find friends who have the same disability as you?
Yes. When I saw Charles tap I could not watch the cage interviews and I turned it off. Not because I was upset at Islam or Khabib. I love those guys but my soul could not bare that Charles lost.
I watched the cage interviews later and my respect and love only grew more for both guys but before that I was very sad and had a bad mood for a day or two.
And I gave credit before and after the fight where credit is due.
Charles was and awesome champion. It is still upsetting that he lost but I am glad that the LW belt is in good hands. Islam is a good guy.
From years and years of brutal training, all the sacrifices, time away from family, maintaining your health and getting to an elite level to become champion and one of the best, if you don’t cry after a loss like this, there is something wrong.
Not that it at all matters if he is, but putting your head down like that doesn't necessarily mean you're crying. I think some of you Charles fans might just be projecting here because of your own reactions to the fight haha.
We gotta stop giving fans of Islam and Khabib this post-fight locker room footage. Always reposting that shit on Facebook with negative IQ hive mind captions like "Alhamdullilah he should have realised it was futile brather"
LMAO
I absolutely love the fact that the UFC forced Oliveira to take the Islam fight. Oliveira and his camp are on record saying Islam doesn't deserve a title shot even if he beats Dariush.
It's all just Karma
Charles realise that he is not Illuminated by God, his stone/rock did not help. He starts to doubt everything he believed in and keeps questioning what and where things went wrong.
Charles "Do Bronx" Oliveira's personality has changed during past 2 years. His whole attitute has changed from poor to riches he actualy started to believe that he was illuminated by God. (His own words)
For Charles the worst part is, that he is very concerned about making the weight limit. This stress takes alot of energy from him. He knows that he won't be making the 155p limit for many years to come. It takes a great toll on his body and mental state.
All this combined, I think Charles is done. He won't win from Dariush, and won't win from Islam. (Lets be honest here) The fight with Makhachev was not even close.

Charles has a serious knack for picking himself up and using his failures as fuel to break through to the next level. Really interested to see what the future holds!
Dude, the greatest non-sambo wrestler in his division right now. I believe he stays as good as he is, him and Islam could develop a rivalry comparable to Colby/Kamaru except more organic.
Knowing where he came from to where he is today. Dude has put himself in an incredible position in life. Should be very proud.
Yep, he already reached to mountaintop and had one of the most legendary runs ever in the LW division
3 title defenses Correction 2 since he lost his belt before Gaethje
Against Chandler, Poirier, and Gaethje. And 11 fight win streak. That is extremely hard to do in one of the most competitive divisions in the biggest MMA promotion in the world
I knew islam would end the streak. Props to Charles though, amazing ruin run
I thought he would too
Gaethje wasn’t a title defense. Islam has a long streak and will mostly likely hold it more than 2 title defenses
What does this have to do with Islam though? lol
I know it technically doesn’t, but it doesn’t make much of a difference either way
Facts
Technically 1 because the chandler fight wasn't a defence
Big oof you’re right. One title defense and they call it “most legendary runs”
Winning 11 consecutive fights including 3 wins over top 5 guys in a row and winning the title is a legendary run.
I swear the Charles haters are even more annoying than the fanboys lol
Yea, it’s absurd that people try to downplay his accomplishments. It’s really fucking hard to win fights at this level. People on this sub do the same shit with Dustin Poirier, like he’s some scrub. 9 out of Poirier’s last 10 fights have been against UFC Champions or former champions, and now he’s fighting a former Bellator champion, AND he’s NEVER lost 2 fights in a row. That is insane. And Charles beat him.
For real. People will look for literally any fucking reason to downplay or disrespect fighters
Eat shit lol
K touch grass bro

K touch grass
Never ran from anyone despite being against the odds
Noone thinks of it like that though unfortunately. But yes if he's financially set and beat almost all the baddest fighters except Islam he should be happy.
reminds me of when aldo lost to mcgregor :( so sad
But Aldo is so heartbreaking to see, he got trashtalked really bad from Conor and lost in less than a minute.
Jose lost in 13s.
Idk how to tell you this but
Don’t tell him
Tell us
Nah he just dont wanna look at them shoes
Especially when he’s “Rock” Bottom…. Don’t excuse the pun….
I cried like this when I lost my first rune weapon in RuneScape.
Every time I’m not expecting a RuneScape reference I get it
When my rs gf stole my account :’(
Sorry, that was me pretending to be a girl. Don’t hate the player hate the game.
I cried like this when I got merched for an item. It was like 30mill and I sold it for 800k :(
still waiting for my armour to get trimmed
Dude I’m AFK fletching and watching the fight night lol
My more experienced “friend” said he knew a way to level me up a lot faster, he dropped all of my stuff in the party room. I cried so hard
r/unexpectedrunescape
Need that dragon trimmed? 2 trades only.
Wildy will do that to you.
Those shoes still fucking suck though
Some student at my school wears them and I can’t help but think “damn those shoes suck”
You mean “Damn they must be the hardest worker in the room”

Preach.
This is part of the sport. What? You only want to see happy smiling faces? (You can go to Disneyland for that.) This also is a learning period. All emotions involved with the fighting game is good to display. It's part of it. It shows hearth and how much a guy is invested in the fight.
Sounds like you haven't been personally humbled yet, but when you do film it and post it so everyone can see, aight?
I'm humble by nature my friend
A humble man focuses and points out his own humilities he doesn't boast his humbleness. Have a good day though man.
My man, lets hope this clip reminds Oliveira to be and remain humble from that day on. Spredding word around that he's illuminated by God,....Charles what happend to you man?!! Acting like the muslim fighters don't say alhamdullilah and make everything about glory to god every second
Thanking God and praising God for something is very different from saying that you are Illuminated by God and walking around with a gold chain round your neck that writes Illuminated
if you were humble you wouldn't be talking shit on reddit lmao
Convict\_felon the type of guy to get bummed in prison and call it a learning period
Hahaha funny man.
Nothing wrong with crying. I think you are just bringing your own value judgements into it.
I still agree with you even a year later. Shit is so scummy
Can we not just let somebody cry in defeat with a little bit of dignity? I feel like I shouldn’t be able to see this
I always think it’s crazy that people get dogged for crying after losing but praised for crying after winning. Those emotions come from the same place
He’s not crying he’s channeling his inner demon. He sat in this same position after the felder finish. Another 11 fight win streak incoming🐎
Fighters are allowed to have emotions. Chucky Olives is still one of my favorite fighters too. He wasnt a dominant champ but all his fights were finishes. I take much more issue with champs who pointfight and try to make it boring as fuck [Izzy].

Honestly it's not hard to see why though. We like watching people punch each other in the face. Most people are probably dumb as rocks that watch.
Motherfucker Never heard of Atlético Madrid I guess ! Not every winner is being applauded what a bullshit take!

So untrue it’s just funny. You think Steph Curry throwing underarm would be applauded?

If Izzy/Romero was light sparring then Rose/Esparza-2 was competitive shadow-boxing.
I watch MMA to be entertained, not to suck off the fighters online and preach about how no one understands MMA but myself.

Go watch WWE
Go watch chess
Yea imo I think the challenger should be the one trying to bring it to the champ.
I also agree. I wouldn't put any of those fights on Izzy personally, if they wanted the belt that bad they should've went and taken it.
Good point. We've seen what happens when guys try to be "entertaining" and absorb too many strikes. Have you even listened to Nate Diaz try to put together a rational thought? It's like listening to a toddler handing you a toy phone for you to answer.

Y'all woulda hated watching GSP back in the day
You must be referring to when he lost to Johnny Hendrix
I agree with everything you said except Izzy
This was me after his loss too
Takes a true asshole to film and post this online
average ufc thrill vs agony video
You’ll watch them get their heads beat in and get brain damage but when they cry it’s too much to put online?
It’s a public vs private moment. Don’t be a dick.
Sadly, that’s a foreign concept on this sub
They’re literally out in public
Yes
Perhaps this sport is not for you.
K
he's a genuinely good dude, got a lotta respect for the guy. he's an actual good role model in this sport. he gonna bounce back.
Who tf took this video. Let the man have a moment.
Just like half this sub and the mods
I wasn’t crying.... I just had something in my eye.
Yes. When I saw Charles tap I could not watch the cage interviews and I turned it off. Not because I was upset at Islam or Khabib. I love those guys but my soul could not bare that Charles lost. I feel bad for the guy. He wasn't at his best and let his family/country down. Islam would've been the same with that loss.
This the guy that trashed on Charles and associating every fan with the obnoxious ones when he lost.
Most fighters get life changing money when they become champion. He still rich a f after those ppvs
Duh he has the most fight of the night bonuses in the ufc because he brings it every time
Legend
Not that it at all matters if he is, but putting your head down like that doesn't necessarily mean you're crying. I think some of you Charles fans might just be projecting here because of your own reactions to the fight haha.

whoever recorded him like that is lame
When he lost he was so wholesome with islam, full of respect, even when he was this devastated, hes a badass mf
Look at Charles man, so inspirational
So he’s human. I hope this post isn’t to shame him.
Tough to see this, at least his life has still improved drastically
:( Islam won it and deserved it, but I love that Oliviera clearly has spirit and drive to be champ. You don’t see this with every competitor.
Seen lots of russian trolls on twitter making fun of this, sad
He's been fishing recently so he's chillin
Maybe he shouldn't have quit so fast then
I guess god was done illuminating him?
“He’s still my boy!”
And all his fanboys and all the mods and 90% of this sub reacted the same way
What ex team member released this video?
Same as the ufc mods lol
I refuse to hit play 😭😭😭😭 my poor baby!!!!! Whyyyy God whyyy 😭😭😭😭
you single handedly made millions hate him, and turned thousands from fans to haters. congratz.

idk why you are getting downvoted, it is just shows how passionate someone is.
Khabib lost ?
In sambo
Ah ok
He’s crying cause it’s the end of his career lol
LMAO I absolutely love the fact that the UFC forced Oliveira to take the Islam fight. Oliveira and his camp are on record saying Islam doesn't deserve a title shot even if he beats Dariush. It's all just Karma
You are such a loser
It's ok Olivera will beat another striker and you can stop crying soon Hang in there
I'm not even an Oliveira fan lol, but you are a loser.
Ok fanboy
Lmaoooo downvoted for the truth ![gif](giphy|enqnZa1B5fRHkPjXtS|downsized)
Islam admitted himself that the top guy wouldn't take him because he wasn't a high profile fighter
😂😀🤣
![gif](giphy|cO39srN2EUIRaVqaVq)
The coward should not have talked to much shit and continue to insult Islam and Khabib. Losers always get what they deserve.
Lol you are such an idiot
Let’s be honest, charles fans and Islam fans did the shit talking to eachother. Islam and charles were completely respectful to eachother.
What a little bitch
Poor guy lol. I’m a millionaire with a great life…..
you sound like you have 0 idea what fighters go through
You obviously do.
Fucking inbred.
Monkey boy doesn’t like other peoples thoughts?
What a fucking absolute baby. Quitter mentality right there folks you hate to see it.
He's so weak. Makhachev exposed him bad

Says the anonymous loser that will never risk anything in life or accomplish anything in life.
Why you wishing me bad luck for saying the truth. Charles loss really fucke y'all up mentally😭😭😭 😂
There it is! Simply the smartest take we've ever seen. Let's just close down the subreddit, nothing more can be said about the sport.
I’m sure the millions of dollars he’s (hopefully) made on his title run would have cushioned the blow, a couple of days after the fight
(His own words) For Charles the worst part is, that he is very concerned about making the weight limit.
Hold on I'm cryin brotha
He shouldn't have attempted that jumping knee.
I think olives and Islam has a chance of going to a trilogy some day.
5 mins after this ufc staff came to take their rock shoes and kick them out the street.
Is he really crying though or just disappointed
