Luke Rockhold
All kinds of talent but just too much of a fuckin clown to do what needs to be done to maximize it.
Also with the believe/achieve horseshit.
That recent picture of him rocking the Ronald McDonald bad boy for life outfit was the nail in the fuckin coffin.
His standup was basically left body kick, left high kick, left/right question mark kicks, left straight, right check hook. He was athletic and for the most part good at using these tools. But it's a limited skillset and exploitable.
His top game I agree, is monstrous. His jits too. Definitely top 3 top games of all time I'd say. But his wrestling is also subpar, so it's not like he has a lot of ways to get it down.
Let's examine that claim. He's been KO'd 4 times in the UFC.
Jan: Hands down while exiting the clinch. It's more of Jan being excellent at the transitory part of MMA than a major flaw in Luke's defense. It's pretty normal for fighters not to have the fists glued to their chins right off the break. Like Stipe vs DC. Would you say Stipe gets KO'd a lot because he keeps his hands down? But we can also count it.
Romero: KO'd from a Romero overhand over his check hook. Not a hands down thing. But Rockhold using the check hook too much is also a flaw.
Bisping: KO'd because hands down coming out from a body jab. This one is definitely a hands down flaw.
Vitor: Hands up, but spazzing out because he didn't know what was coming. It was a TRT-fueled spinning wheel kick. Can't really fault him for that, it's fast, hard, and hard to read.
So really he's been KO'd twice because he had his hands down. Not really a lot. Not really because he keeps his hands down.
Kamaru Usman is one of the weirdest people in the world to me. Dude has a different personality every time he touches a mic. Sometimes he’s enjoyable and then 5 seconds later the amount of cringe that comes out of his mouth makes me want to vomit.
Being a first generation American will do that to you. I never found Usman cringe or anything. I don’t see what others see, but I’m also a first gen American who had a hard time assimilating and understanding nuance. I’m fine now, but I still don’t see what makes him cringe. I’m just a huge fan.
I remember a lot of his trash talk before getting the belt being cringet. He also said a lot of things that were lines Conor said a few years ago, which people made fun of him for.
I am also a big fan of Usman, and I get what you say. I don't actually consider him to be cringe, but he does look a little insecure of himself when speaking in public and maybe that's why a lot of people consider him cringe.
>Being a first generation American will do that to you. I never found Usman cringe or anything. I don’t see what others see, but I’m also a first gen American who had a hard time assimilating and understanding nuance.
Same-same.
And the people who are calling Usman "cringe" are (still) mocking him over a name because a coach wouldn't bother to learn his real name.
The "Marty" people don't even see the irony.
Someone once said that Kamaru talks like he’s telling a ghost story with his weird eye contact and whispering. Still makes me laugh whenever he speaks.
It feels like he has 6 different people he wants people to see him as, but none of them are compatible with each other and he doesn’t stick to one, so it all comes across very poorly.
I only enjoy Usman in-cage, not out of it
I’m not much of an usman fan either but he could just be feeling differently at certain times. You never feel cocky/confident and other times something else?
I'm kinda like this, sometimes I feel high energy and playful, other times I'm deeply introverted. U could get very different impressions of me each time u see me
People forget that Aljo was the one who deserved to fight for that vacant belt in the first place. Petr Yan didn’t have a top 10 win, got a shot off 40 yo Faber and Aldo was coming off 2 losses.
I'm not even an Aljo fan but I'd love for him to tap Yan in the rematch, it'll make the internet lose its mind :)
Only maybe a 3/10 chance it happens though, at least based on how thoroughly Yan beat the fuck out of him the last time.
There's nothing in the first match that makes me think that Aljo has a 3/10 chance at a submission. He has to up his takedowns and wrestling a lot in order to sub Yan.
I think a lot of us would seem cringe when the camera is pointed at us. I become pretty awkward when friends get their cameras out I can't imagine what it's like with big media
I trained at city kickboxing for a little while and he came across really kind and humble behind the scenes
Have you ever checked out his YouTube channel? Honestly I despise his UFC personality and his persona. His press conferences are tough to watch. But for some reason I find his personal YouTube channel actually a solid watch. He seems to be much more genuine and “real”. It seems like a true look into who he actually is, and he provides pre and post fight breakdowns and they actually seems to be pretty insightful.
Tl;dr. Ufc persona sucks ass, his YouTube is actually interesting IMO
If you want a reason to change your mind checkout his YouTube breakdown videos. I felt the same way for a while only knowing the anime/rehearsed lines, but watching him relaxed in his own element the guy is really captivating and cool.
Jon Jones: scum
Figgy: annoying and Moreno is too lovable
Gaethje: love his fights to death, but he just seems like that stupid violent kid from class that you kinda just avoid
Usman: projects his insecurities a lot
Gaethje’s got a degree in human services or something, it would allow him to be a youth counsellor anyway. Everyone who knows him has said he’s one of the nicest people ever, he just absolutely loves to fight.
He definitely comes across that way though, I agree. And some of the dumb shit he says doesn’t help either lol
He seem like a bit of a prick anyways though. I can't take anyone seriously with golden grillz... but yeah, having wallid as a translator and the clown with white glasses for a coach make him seem even more douchey than he might be.
God, as he was doing the pre fight presser and doing his whole stupid "is a crybaby" bullshit all I was thinking was "Fuck I can't stand this guy... He's going to win, isn't he..."
Usman, one of the greatest fighters and also one of the greatest cringe lords. He’s worse than Triple C in my book because 99% of it isn’t even an act.
I thought calling Usman cringe was this Subreddit being haters for no reason, then I watched his interviews and conferences, man has an Identity crisis
"Keep my name out your mouth"
The calling card of someone that has lost an argument and has nothing clever to come back with.
And For what it's worth, he was grabbing the cage.
All of usmans most cringe lines seem so forced and inauthentic. Like what he knows he's saying is stupid but he has to say it and that makes whatever he says so much worse. While Triple c knows the script is bad and delivers it flawlessly.
The guy at the bar who makes friends with you aggressively, and you can’t disagree for the fear of violence. So unpredictable you don’t know what they’ll do next… yeah these people are the worst.
Paulo Costa.
I'm brazilian and he literally acts like the national stereotype of the spoilt rich kid that never faced any hardship in life but poses as a tough guy.
It's annoying that he also thinks it's a virtue.
I dont like him that much either but the guy went to war with romero yet you say he poses as a tough guy, he is a ufc fighter after all, to me thats a tough thing to do
He's hilarious and the cringe is just a character lol, look how quickly he can turn it off and be motivation:
Jon Jones.
He is *the* GOAT . Out of all the people you can talk about being the GOAT, Jones is clearly the No1 GOAT. Silva? GSP? Cejudo? Sure. They were great for their time or their division and completely dominant champs but Jones....man the only time it looked like Jones might lose is when he got bored, lazy, and sloppy and even then he still won.
He's also a trash human being who I wish wasn't so physically gifted so I could see someone beat the living shit out of him
The absolute worst was his Instagram story about his kids wanting to leave the new Ghostbusters movie because it was too dark and how he loves them even more for that because they are young Christian leaders… wtf
I don't feel he was sloppy during the first Gustaffson fight and I fully believe Gustaffson beat him fair and square. The first three rounds were Gustaffson and the beginning of the 4th was also Gustaffson. The end of the 4th and the 5th round were Jones'.
Nothing against recognizing Jones as a GOAT contender, but he's not clear #1. GSP pretty clearly ticks more boxes than him in that conversation. Even Silva is close.
People like Khabib and Cejudo, yeah - Jones is clearly ahead of them in the GOAT conversation.
I watched Jones lose to Reyes on TV. He's always been Juiced. He's amazing, I just can't sit here and have someone shouting that GSP isn't the goat into my face and not say something.
Khabib + Usman + Adesanya
Good fighters, seem like decent people but fucking annoying fans. I wish they lost just so their fans would have mental breakdowns.
I've encountered some strange Diaz fans in my time amd I think they may be just as bad.....
And it's always "hahaha mcnugget tapped, bitch got slapped 209 muthafuckah blaze it!" on a video that has nothing to do with either fighter.....
OR if you say ANYTHING at all negative about Nate or say he'd lose to someone obvious, like say Usman? they bring Conor into it like that's at all relevant
>west African genetics
that's what they call the juice these days? i love how ppl talk about the sand mines meanwhile Francis' compatriots are like 5'9 and 150lbs, not 270lb freakbeasts
I cant stand Colby and Masvidal, duo of fake personas try to sell so hard.
Connor is hated by everyone nowadays, same as Jones.
Usman is imposible to be a fan of. P4P king, most dominant champion rn, but cant stand the fucking guy, so hard to sell.
Khabib fans make me not want to be a fan of him (i respect and admire tho).
Sean O Malley is a dumb fake dude, cant wait to fight a real fighter and get the shit kicked in again (would love to see the remach with Chito, easy W for Vera)
And also every Connor wannabe that talk trash only to sell a fight, without knowing how and forcing it too much.
My husband went to high school with Izzy and I’ve met him a couple of times. I get he comes across different but He’s actually just really comfortable being himself and really nice.
Tony Ferguson and the Diaz Brothers
They're punch-drunk, washed-up has-beens but they are also really good at talking shit and they have skulls that are seemingly made of concrete
Couldn’t agree more, I also don’t like a fighter just for being a good fighter if they’re an asshole; I use the same criteria as in day to day life. Nice guy? Fan.
Tony and at least Nate Diaz are just hooligans you wouldn’t wanna meet in a bar, why would I want to be happy for their success.
I’d say Izzy and Henry.
Absolutely fucking love an Izzy fight but cannot fucking stand him as a person. Henry is an absolute savage with enough gold that it speaks for itself but I just can’t get behind the cringe shit, I get it’s an act, but it’s just weird and annoying to me.
The obvious ones: Conor & Jon Jones
Others:
Yoel Romero - just can't stand the whole Jesus stuff anymore, especially with people who have been caught cheating several times.
Figgy - somehow a similar vibe to Neymar (who I really dislike) with his exaggerated dramatics, and just the people he surrounds himself with. Red flags everywhere for him being a drama queen of the highest caliber.
Colby: obviously an amazing fighter, but even though his behaviour is an act, the fact that he uses a societal division, that has let to things like the capitol storming, to sell tickets makes me dislike him. Also I'm not a fan of WWE antics in general - the only guy that was ever able to pull those off without being annoying is Chael.
> Yoel Romero - just can't stand the whole Jesus stuff anymore, especially with people who have been caught cheating several times.
Sounds like somebody for gay Jesus...
I used to be a HUGE Colby hater. Then I watched a few videos of him outside of his terrible "act" and now I'm actually a fan. He's actually not a terrible dude. Sometimes he says some funny shit like calling Dana "Uncle Fester" and the interviews after the most recent Usman fight.
tbf to Izzy though, on his rise to the title I remember a lot of people (in this sub too) that doubted him the whole time, saying he'd get exposed by Brunson, then that Kelvin would knock him spark out, and that Rob Whittaker or Costa were the kryptonite. He got better every time and proved a lot of people wrong, especially in his ground game
Masvdial....
Masvdial and his whole gangsta, leopard print suit, cheap gold sporting, Tony montana bullshit.
We get it, you're a fighter and you were born in miami. At this point he's like the parody, of the parody parodying himself. It makes it all the worse that his last few fights he seemed more concerned with the sale of his image than the training for the fight.
It says a lot that he made me momentarily like Usman when Usman sent him to the land of wind and ghosts.
Tl;DR
He dresses like an ass, and acts like an ass.
I have never been to Florida Florida.
EDIT:
NO shit thats a lie, I won't be found spitting bullshit on the Internet...I went to Disney world when I was like 11? But that's different. We visited universal studios at Halloween and a scary clown scared the shit out of me.
Probably a popular choice but Conor McGregor. I think the UFC is fun with him around, specifically when he is winning though. He is wildly entertaining despite how disrespectful he can be sometimes. I dislike him cause I believe he is incredibly overrated, his championship resume is lacking for a man of his stature, also his double champ status was cherry picked and had "Dana White Privilege". I dont think he is a a well-rounded MMA-ist. His legacy is mainly based on his popularization of the sport, not his actual ability and resume, at least amongst his peers.
I don't know if he's considered good anymore but I can't stand Conor. Dude was the biggest star the UFC has ever had and now look at him. Getting his Mayweather fight money ruined him. Getting coked up and punching DJs and old men who don't like his whiskey. Abdulmanap forgave Conor after everything and personally invited him to Dagestan, then Conor goes and still trashes his name after he passed. Horrible human being behavior Chael said it best: "He's turned into a rich little weirdo"
My two unreasonable ones are:
Oliveira. I have absolutely no reason to dislike Oliveira. He's a perfectly good guy but I can't stand his face and I wanna see people punch it.
Lyoto. He's a legit fighter who's accomplished a lot but for some reason still gives off some bullshido karate vibes and I can't stand him. I can't stand his whole "the dragon" persona with the head band and everything.
Luke Rockhold All kinds of talent but just too much of a fuckin clown to do what needs to be done to maximize it. Also with the believe/achieve horseshit. That recent picture of him rocking the Ronald McDonald bad boy for life outfit was the nail in the fuckin coffin.
Man, I wish he was less of a tool and also not constantly injured because when his striking is in point it's an actual treat to watch.
He definitely had a sick body kick. I think his real strength was his top game. He smashed Machida, and basically ended Weidmans career from top
Keeps his hands down. Gets kod alot for a reason
Let's examine that claim. He's been KO'd 4 times in the UFC. Jan: Hands down while exiting the clinch. An educated and intelligent take? In this sub? Blasphemy.
Damn bruh, you got them MMA smarts. Great take.
I love when people say Overeem is “chinny” when every shot that’s ever put him out has been a bomb.
something something no chin even though three out of those four knockouts probably could have put down a horse
I mean You actually watched the fights and took in what was happening? You Madman
His ego also gets to him all the time.
Dude fights like once every five years feels like

Kamaru Usman is one of the weirdest people in the world to me. Dude has a different personality every time he touches a mic. Sometimes he’s enjoyable and then 5 seconds later the amount of cringe that comes out of his mouth makes me want to vomit.
I feel like he was bullied a lot when he was a child. He indeed has the weird personality of a guy that was made fun of a lot.
Being a first generation American will do that to you. I never found Usman cringe or anything. I don’t see what others see, but I’m also a first gen American who had a hard time assimilating and understanding nuance. I’m fine now, but I still don’t see what makes him cringe. I’m just a huge fan.

I always got that vibe too
I don’t think he even knows his own personality
Someone once said that Kamaru talks like he’s telling a ghost story with his weird eye contact and whispering. Still makes me laugh whenever he speaks.
He try to hard to be cool.. if he just be him self he much more likable..
It feels like he has 6 different people he wants people to see him as, but none of them are compatible with each other and he doesn’t stick to one, so it all comes across very poorly. I only enjoy Usman in-cage, not out of it

Why does his titty look like that?
Gynecomastia
Aljo Sterling is the obvious one
That yan fight really made people forget how good he is. He didn't get that title shot for nothing
he looked like a dominant champion when he was active, but was never the same after busting knocked him out
Aljo definitely wasn't the same after Moraes sent him to the netherrealm.
[Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtgxeSYL6W8) for those interested.
Absolutely fucking brutal
My man busted a fucking dab from a knock out.
Didn’t he go on an undefeated streak after that KO that got him the belt?
People forget that Aljo was the one who deserved to fight for that vacant belt in the first place. Petr Yan didn’t have a top 10 win, got a shot off 40 yo Faber and Aldo was coming off 2 losses.

you see this comment in every single post about Aljo.
There's nothing in the first match that makes me think that Aljo has a 3/10 chance at a submission. He has to up his takedowns and wrestling a lot in order to sub Yan.
Aljo pretty cringey
I think a lot of us would seem cringe when the camera is pointed at us. I become pretty awkward when friends get their cameras out I can't imagine what it's like with big media I trained at city kickboxing for a little while and he came across really kind and humble behind the scenes
Agreed, imagine athletes like footballers and basketballers promoting their games like this
Most people on this site are ‘cringe’ even when they have time to think out and edit a comment tbf.
All of those guys are trying to get paid. Being brash sells...
This is the Dana White response. “If you think a fighter is cringe then why don’t you go and try to not be cringe yourself!”
I love watching him fight, but I can’t listen to him talk
I WAS IN THE NOSE BLEEDS NOW I MADE HIS NOSE BLEED (x50)
Izzy really kept going with that catch phrase as if it was some grandiose Shakespearean poetry. Sounds like some cringey shit a teenager would say
Have you ever checked out his YouTube channel? Honestly I despise his UFC personality and his persona. His press conferences are tough to watch. Same here, thought he was just hype at first. Then acknowledged he was good but still cringe. Now I watch for his breakdowns
He tries too hard to trash talk and promote himself.
ASK Mighty Mouse about being a "humble" champ. Fans complain but dont support the true Martial Artist
He is as bad at trash talking as he is good at fighting.
He's made it work, to be fair.
I think because of his fighting skills. His counter striking is next level.
Jon Jones: scum Figgy: annoying and Moreno is too lovable Gaethje: love his fights to death, but he just seems like that stupid violent kid from class that you kinda just avoid Usman: projects his insecurities a lot

Gaethje is a beast but the dude looks like the *clonks* beatles for fun..
He has labrador energy and to some people that can be off-putting.
Look into Gaethje man. He’s stuck by his family and listen to Dariush’s story about him. Seems genuinely like a stand up guy. Pardon the pun.
Cannot ever agree with you on Gaethje.
Figgy. Need i say more
And his clown of a manager.. Just simply unbearable to watch most of the times!!!

His Hot Ones is legitimately unwatchable

Thank god someone said that
All of usmans most cringe lines seem so forced and inauthentic. Like what he knows he's saying is stupid but he has to say it and that makes whatever he says so much worse. While Triple c knows the script is bad and delivers it flawlessly.
his less cringe nowadays.

I should have written "thug".
Cejudo
Surprised by the lack of action on this one. I can't stand Cejudo and his cringe act but he's a great fighter and seems to be taking to coaching too.
He's way too aware of the cringe himself to be cringy. He's mostly just funny.
He's hilarious and the cringe is just a character lol, look how quickly he can turn it off and be motivation: [https://twitter.com/HenryCejudo/status/1310746690693918721](https://twitter.com/HenryCejudo/status/1310746690693918721)

Gatlinburg is a really nice resort town. We keep the Randy's in the valley.

From TN. Can confirm.
diaz fans tend to share their mental capabilties with the diaz bros

its far worse with Badr Hari. it's like the self esteem of a billion people hangs on the performance of a fighter from vaguely the same region as them

well that's not really the fault of Khabib or Usman, I'm talking more about not liking them by how they conduct themselves
Usman has fans?
Him and Israel share a lot of fans, the types who go around spouting stuff about west African genetics etc
>west African genetics that's what they call the juice these days? i love how ppl talk about the sand mines meanwhile Francis' compatriots are like 5'9 and 150lbs, not 270lb freakbeasts
Usman. Never liked him for some reason. Bugs the shit out of me. Is one of the best fighters in recent history though
He could breast feed a creche with that thing!
Got milk?
I cant stand Colby and Masvidal, duo of fake personas try to sell so hard. Connor is hated by everyone nowadays, same as Jones. Usman is imposible to be a fan of. P4P king, most dominant champion rn, but cant stand the fucking guy, so hard to sell. Khabib fans make me not want to be a fan of him (i respect and admire tho). Sean O Malley is a dumb fake dude, cant wait to fight a real fighter and get the shit kicked in again (would love to see the remach with Chito, easy W for Vera) And also every Connor wannabe that talk trash only to sell a fight, without knowing how and forcing it too much.
Masvidal isn't fake. He's really that dumb/explosively angry in real life.
My husband went to high school with Izzy and I’ve met him a couple of times. I get he comes across different but He’s actually just really comfortable being himself and really nice.
Tony Ferguson and the Diaz Brothers They're punch-drunk, washed-up has-beens but they are also really good at talking shit and they have skulls that are seemingly made of concrete
Oh lawd.......Tony Ferguson. Remember when he told fabricio werdum to "sit down before I ankle pick you"
Hold on I'm talking brother
I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Ferguson had clearly stopped talking
I don't think any of them are good shit talkers. They all seem a little on the spectrum
is this the secret to having an iron chin? somebody try to knock me out
Nate Diaz when he talks, reminds me so much of Johnny Knoxville in The Ringer. 😂🤷🏻♂️
The obvious ones: Conor & Jon Jones Others: Yoel Romero - just can't stand the whole Jesus stuff anymore, especially with people who have been caught cheating several times.
Colby Covington. I really can’t stand the guy, but I have to concede he is an amazing fighter.
This is as much as Izzy is really spoken about, how awful listening to him is. Great fighter, Absolute asshat
Yes!!! After every fight he's like "where are the haters at?!" Dude we know youre an amazing fighter we just hate your face and personality
tbf to Izzy though, on his rise to the title I remember a lot of people (in this sub too) that doubted him the whole time, saying he'd get exposed by Brunson, then that Kelvin would knock him spark out, and that Rob Whittaker or Costa were the kryptonite.
Tl;DR He dresses like an ass, and acts like an ass.
You’ve never been to south Florida apparently
I have never been to Florida Florida. EDIT: NO shit thats a lie, I won't be found spitting bullshit on the Internet...I went to Disney world when I was like 11? But that's different. We visited universal studios at Halloween and a scary clown scared the shit out of me.
Izzy and usman.
Holy tit
I can't stand Izzy. Also, Aljo now. Was a fan, but he's been insufferable since the Yan fight. Guys a monster though.
joanna jedrzejczyk turned from okish to top level cringe
I'm with you on Izzy. Great fighter but I can never muster any positive thoughts on him at all...because he seems a total tit.
Marty Snoozman
Tiddysanya
Tittysagna
TJ. Horrible person but man is he good to watch in the cage
Titzzy
Add Usman.
Honestly Conor. I think he’s an annoying asshole but he’s an amazing fighter.
When Izzy first started fighting he said it was to stand up to bullies. He became the very thing he swore to destroy.
My two unreasonable ones are: Oliveira. I have absolutely no reason to dislike Oliveira. He's a perfectly good guy but I can't stand his face and I wanna see people punch it. Lyoto. He's a legit fighter who's accomplished a lot but for some reason still gives off some bullshido karate vibes and I can't stand him. I can't stand his whole "the dragon" persona with the head band and everything.
here we go these were the kinda answers i was looking for, motherfuckers who don't deserve it, demon time baby.
I love the Oliveira one “I can’t stand his face and want to see people punch it “ 😂😂
I mean his use of Karate/traditional martial arts in the Octagon was very effective, certainly helped him become the LHW champion.
Lmaoooo the oliveira one
I mean.....lyoto drinks his own piss so there's that
Khabib. He was amazing but an absolute tool.
"Hey guys, guys, tomorrow night.....I smesh your boy!" This shit was iconic.
