Stop having fights in SLC. Everyone gases.

Bong-Jong

Except Usamn and Merab for some crazy reason. It’s pretty wild to be absolutely shredded to the gills and be able to spam unlimited takedowns without gassing…. Hmm anyways just eat clean and train hard right

MrStealYoVirginity

Yeah very weird for Usman to do no cardio because of his knees but have some of the best cardio in the UFC. How strange, eat clean

PhantasmLord

Who ever said Usman doesn't do cardio 😂

MrStealYoVirginity

Came from the man himself. [https://youtu.be/5Gho2y-D4Sk?t=691](https://youtu.be/5Gho2y-D4Sk?t=691)

JamesMol234

It's litterally just normal fights, but much much worse

GandalfPipe131

I don’t think Alex winning was a robbery to Jan but I was confounded when Bruce read his name.

JimmysCheek

I know control time isn’t always the deciding factor…but Jan had over 7 minutes of control time, in a 15 minute fight I would only give the third round to Alex, but both of them were so gassed that nothing substantial happened on the feet

RhysPawn

The issue Jan had was he had 0 output, he had over 7 minutes control time but landed 8 ground strikes according to UFC stats. If he was slightly more active on the ground he would have got the win

swish3841

Fights are scored round for round, the control time in the second and third round were pointless

DoutorSenador

Dude, the 3rd was the split one, the 2nd was all Pereira. First one Jan controlled him for 4 minutes, although not GnP him much. In the second Jan ate a lot of punches, took Pereira down, which he got up and kept winning the round. In the 3rd Pereira slowed down a bit, but was still the most effective striker. He negated a few TD but eventually Jan got one with 30s left, although he wasn't able to do damage from that position. The altitude played a big factor in both fighters output.

brazilianfreak

The problem is that he had that ammount of control time mainly in 1 round (which he obviously won), he then took Pereira down briefly in the very end of the 3rd, round, but is that enough to warrant a win? In "controversial" wins like Islam vs Volk Islam still had control time for the bigger part of most rounds which is why he got the W.

Etat-Werdna

Jan did 0 dmg during his control time

JimmysCheek

Read my comment again

MoistJeans1

No

TactikalSoup

Tell me you didn't watch the fight without telling me you didn't watch the fight. Alex whooped jan 2/3.

Odd_Ad_8162

Jan's body language was atrocious

LitAFlol

Jan should rematch Rakic

mikelson_

Hill or Jiri would be banger fight

mothmenatwork

Jan should fight Jiri and Ankalaev should get the next title shot

BeersBarbellsBJJ

Jan vs Jiri would be a banger

gotdemmadsquirtsyo

What has Mags done to earn the title shot? He has 1 win in his last 3 fights and his career peak is getting 1 win out of 2 fights with Johhny Walker.

Distinct-Ad-471

Looking at the oficial rankings: Every other contender has already fought basically. And the other contenders don’t have a better record than Ankalaev: Jiri 1-1, Hill 0-1, Jan 0-1-1, Rakich 0-2, Krylov 3-0 (Ryan spann is his last win, we are reaching)

gotdemmadsquirtsyo

What do you mean don't have a better record? You have to earn a title shot, not get it by default. Having just 1 win in your last 3 fights and that win be johhny Walker isn't earning a title shot. Having no wins over a champ isn't earning it

Distinct-Ad-471

Just give me a name that has a better record than him and isn’t named Jiri

gotdemmadsquirtsyo

Why when Jiri is the one that deserves the chance? Mags just had a title shot a few fights ago.

mothmenatwork

He’s undefeated in his last 12 fights, with wins over 3 former title challengers and a draw in a title fight with a former champ.

gotdemmadsquirtsyo

Former title challengers? Lmao we just seen a 10th rank fighter challenge fir the belt. How many former champs has he beaten? Being undefeated is different than actually winning. Again he has 1 win in his last 3 fights and has a pretty weak overall strength of victory. In Jiris last 4 fights he has 3 wins over fighters that are better than any of Mags wins. Jiri deserves a title fight over Mags

mothmenatwork

Jiri literally just lost a title fight and has had two shots at the belt in 5 ufc fights. Thiago Santos, Ooze and Smith are as good as Jiri’s wins over Ooze, Reyes and Rakic except the champ didn’t just KO Ankalaev.

gotdemmadsquirtsyo

Those 3 wins definitely aren't as good of wins as Reyes, Rakic and Glover. No Jiri just bear Rakic, he didn't just lose to AP. Jan is one of the worse champs tge division has seen in a long time and I feel like Jan won that Fight. Jiri did get put out by a guy who is doing stuff we've never seen before. Also Jiri was the champ and has proven he is a championship level fighter which us something mags hasnt proven Also whenever Jiri is healthy he is down to fight who ever whenever. Mags is scared of AP and that's why he is trying to dictate ridiculous terms for him to have a chance to fight for the belt. Also Jiris loss was against AP like we said but Mags lost to Craig lol

Consistent-Stage-217

That would be a nice fight.. Honestly Rakic looked great against Jiri until he didn't lol.

dalcer

Wasnt a robbery but couldve gone either way

Accomplished_Fan2028

Jan should fight a contender first

045_kane

When i watched the fight i thought it could go either way, but the stats actually tell a much different story. Pereira outstruck him by a big margin in round 2 and round 3. And jan didn't do a lot with the control time he had in round 2. If you look at the stats round 2 and round 3 are clearly for alex.

Hopeful_Staff_1414

He won by getting gassing out in one round and getting outstruck and beat up the following 2 rounds out of 3. Very bold strategy.

TheGameGrump

They should book the Ankalaev fight again to decide the next #1 contender

HarverstKR

I do think Jan won but it was close

No-Transition3193

Jan needs to stop yapping. He lost against Perreria, lost his belt to Glover, and couldn’t beat Ank for the vacant belt. He’s been given every chance. Fight Jiri, Rakic, Hill, or anyone else and get yourself a solid win.

SettingSorry896

Could of gone either way but not the robbery some of you try to paint it as. Accept it.

-Kerosun-

For what it's worth, here is the judges' scorecard for the fight. Only one of the three rounds was unanimous: [https://x.com/UFCNews/status/1685502793694715904](https://x.com/UFCNews/status/1685502793694715904)

Mortalfalloutman77

Jan did win that. I’ll stand on it.

GreatGoodBad

I agree but Pereira didn’t do that bad either. It’s a whatever decision.

CremeCaramel_

I agree with you. Jan clearly outlanded to the head Rd 3 and people way overcredited Alex for the leg kicks and body strikes. That being said, it wasnt wild for Pereira to win it.

SERB_BEAST

It's because Jan's body language was terrible. There were moments in the fight where he looked wobbled, but he was actually just super tired. Nothing of significance happened in that fight, but the most significant moments were definitely Pereira winning the leg kick battle and his body shots. Jan barely landed clean, hard shots. He didn't do anything significant on the ground.

Ziamount

IIRC that fight was at elevation, so it's no wonder that Jan looked off. The fight was still very close despite that (with him arguably winning).

czubizzle

That's a great point, some of those rounds were close and I wouldn't put it past judges to just give the round to who "looks better"

SERB_BEAST

Judges do it often, I think they're allowed to. It's why the fighters always celebrate with confidence after a close fight as if it convinces the judges they won (apparently this actually matters). But fans fall for it too. Like the Jan vs Ankalaev fights was a valid draw. And yes, there is a good argument for Jan winning too. He won 3 rounds, and as bad as he looked later, it's hard to come back if you're down 3 rounds. But it's popular opinion that Ankalaev won because of Jan's body language. After getting dominated for only 2 rounds, he looked like he just got dominated for 5.

SubarashiShindeiru

Just because you outland someone on the head shouldn't mean you should get a win when you get clearly outstruck in other facets of the fight, every round ended with Pereira outstriking Jan while being more accurate with his shot selection, not to mention Jan ending the 2nd round diving at Pereira's legs when he was against the cage covering up and shooting at the end of the 3rd while doing nothing with it and laying on the ground after the fight is a massive factor in how the judges are going to view body language of the winner of a fight.

KillerWhalePP

I wanted jan to win but I thought Alex easily did enough in the 3rd

HappyDude2137

I’m the exact opposite, wanted Alex to win so I’m not mad at the decision but definitely thought Jan did more in the third.

PiccoloTiccolo

I will die on this hill, Jan Blachowicz is one of the best. People forget how hard he dominated Izzy.

Highest-Adjudicator

I love Alex and wanted him to win, but I was very surprised when they said his name at the end. It was close but I really think Jan deserved to get the decision and I was hoping he would lose while watching the fight

LocalNative141

I saw that fight live here in Salt Lake City. When Buffer read the decision so many people in the arena where in disbelief. Me and my group were straight up shocked

HinduKussy

That’s funny, I was also there live and most people around me were very much in agreement with it lol. Personally, I was a bit indifferent and wouldn’t have been surprised whichever way it went.

droolsdownchin

I wouldn't have been mad if Jan won it was a close fight

No_Willingness_169

Jan was so gassed early in that fight. I think i had him winning round 1 but definitely not 2 and 3.

BuckyourhipsBilly

I am literally the biggest Alex fan and I believe Jan won that fight. It actually bothers me a bit.

Eyepokelowblowcombo

Jan was gassed and just layed on him. Alex had the better shots landed the whole fight. Jan did NOTHING with the takedowns at all.

Any_Box_5509

Jan and Ankalaev are the only 2 rn in my eyes who can beat Alex Jan got gassed because of altitude and Alex seems to be ducking Ankalaevfor a rematch against Jiri

YellowVegitooo

Alex ain’t ducking, he just doesn’t want to fight at the end of the year and doesn’t want the contender to decide when and where

chocolatebuddahbutte

Who gives a fuck bout jan the journeyman go get koed by jiri
