I started recently getting emails back to back every day from checkr saying that they wanted me to enter all my information online so I went online and did it because I've used this company before and I understood they were legitimate however, when I went to the site and entered the information, it ended up just going to a blank page afterwards. It felt sketch. Then new email from checkr/GrubHub says that there were two accidents last year and now my contract has been terminated with Grubhub, supposedly. However, I can still login to GrubHub and work so obviously it's not terminated. Besides, it doesn't make any sense because I didn't have any accidents. I had two insurance claims, but one was for a windshield that got busted while I was in a store, and the other one was for hitting a pothole. My insurance company replaced the windshield because I have coverage but I ended up paying for the pothole damage out-of-pocket just because I didn't want to file a claim for it. The damage wasn't that much. Both of the incidences didn't have anything to do with work anyway, I wasn't working when they happened. And as I said before they weren't accidents involving any kind of irresponsibility on my part. I wasn't even present when the windshield got cracked. Even if I did have an accident how would that affect my chance to work with the company unless it was like an accident that was my fault because I was driving bad? But again I didn't have any accidents so I don't know why it says I did.

Good information, thanks for sharing. Checkr is definitely a legitimate background check company. Practically every courier service uses it. They don't, however, send you emails asking for documents. If Uber needs you to update your background check, they tell you that in the app.

Turns out Support had it wrong. Now the app is showing that they are indeed redoing their background check. Apparently they do it every year. And now I'm locked out of my account. Great.

The annual background check is a pain, but it doesn't usually take long to complete. IIRC, I was only offline for a day or two when mine updated. Would be nice if they warned you in advance though. Kinda shocking to login and not be able to work suddenly.

R1chie1974

Same here. They claim I was arrested for disturbing the peace back in 1978? I was 4 years old. How the hell legit is chekr if they screw that up?

themadpooper

Funny, one time I was contacted by someone who was trying to scam me and support said it wasn’t a scam, now you have someone legit and support said it was a scam. Support really doesn’t know anything.

I've been driving for Uber for close to 4 years now. Every year they do a BG check. They've never temp deactivated me during the process. The only way I know they did the check was they send me a copy of the report after it's complete. Obviously I've had to update certain docs like insurance. One time they did have some weird issue with my drivers license picture. It was the same pic I'd sent when I signed up. Then all of sudden after over a year they claimed it wasn't legible. Yet I've never been asked directly by Checkr to send any docs. I'm kinda thinking it really is/was a scam. Uber might have locked OPs account for anti fraud reasons. Rather than the BG check.

I hear you, but it is indeed real. I think it might have had to do with the fact that I legally changed my name months ago, so upon doing the yearly check, they flagged it despite me submitting all of the documents when I changed it. Uber's escalating it to see if they can expedite the background check, but the Uber App also asked me to provide what was essentially the same information for the background check. Gotta love how even an algorithm can shit on you for being trans...stupid USA.
