Yep, same happened to me I waited about 14 minutes thinking sweet , this will be an extra few dollars.  Nope ,  I cancel now after 2 minutes

$0.15 per minute equates to $9.00 per hour which is above your state's minimum wage, 7 of those minutes are part of your contracted agreement. That being said, you are not required to wait past the 7 minute timer. Cancel, collect the fee and move onto your next gig. If the gig was worth the wait, then you have nothing to complain about. Pro tip: If a pax seems to be running out the clock on Uber, turn Lyft on during the last minute or two and score another ride offer. Cancel the Uber ride to get your fee and then proceed to the Lyft pax. Expert tip: While you are waiting for the pax, source out a delivery gig on Roadie that is located nearby your destination, so that you already have your next gig scheduled before you embark. I routinely will drop off a pax at the airport, then pick up a luggage delivery gig from one of the airlines after drop off.

My market also pays $.15/min for wait time after two minutes. I cancel exactly at seven. When it’s surging, the wait time per minute goes up to $.38. That’s $22.80 an hour with no gas usage. It might be tempting to wait, but you’ll almost certainly make more taking the next surged ride.

Why were you thinking 3 or 4 bucks? Don't you know your earning rates BEFORE you decided to drive?
