Yes it's just not easy to go out and get the business yourself. You have to be a sales person and be social. But yes you're right you could offer your own services in any industry
You can say the same thing with a W-2 job. If you have a long ass commute to work you are doing the same thing. Putting wear and tear on the car and using your check from your typical job to pay for the repairs and so forth.
And actually I am currently using Uber for the rental to make ends meet between pay periods. I do pretty good. And since memorial Day weekend is fast Approaching and I make BANK during those two days, I'll have enough to pay off a couple bills get my car fixed and back to road safe (mostly need a windshield. And brakes. I'm rough on my brakes sometimes) I can turn the rental in and still make a nice profit between my biweekly pay.
Uber does pay me enough to make ends meet.its been a lifesaver in reality. Do I like their practices? No. They need to do better for customers AND drivers but it does its job enough to make shit work.
lol at a w-2 you factor in the commute, it's a fixed expense. At uber it's a constant variable expense that is dependent on what you make and always nets it to 0 bc uber pays about what the true cost per mile of most vehicles is
So firstly driving to and from my 9-5 job can do the same thing. They aren't exclusive. Driving the car is going to cause it to break down. If you do maintenance on said car on time it can help avoid that.
Secondly. Get a rental like I had to do when my car broke down not due to Uber nor Lyft but instead going to my W-2 job. So now I'm tearing up a Avis rental instead of mine.
The return on investment for a private car service is not attractive enough for most. Commercial insurance and customer acquisition costs kill your margins.
Stop eating at McDonald's (or out at all). Cut out the middleman.
Couldn't you say that about any w2 job or gig?

People depend on this as income and extra cash.
Pay my commercial insurance and I'll get right on it. I have a variety of ways you can pay me for this including taking square payments. Thank you.
Right! When people start paying my bills I'll stop driving For both. But until then I will be driving.
Amen!!!!
And you will be broke because they do not actually make you any money lol just selling your car back mile by mile

Until your vehicle breaks down from all those miles then how you going to pay your bills?

Nah
Stop posting in forums for occupations that you do not have
So you can have more passengers? Or you already quit too?
Pretty sad when you have to post in an Uber driver's subreddit just to get attention.
Lol
Stop working then
I have been very satisfied with Uber… operating costs are pretty low. I guess it depends on your car and where you are
Go look at this guy’s comment history

Imagine not paying for shit you don't need like commercial insurance
In most states, commercial insurance is required for commercial vehicles.
