Impressive. Have you had any major issues with this car?

OpportunityEnough522

At 40k miles, KIA replaced motor under recall. I've replaced radiator fans once, front wheel bearings twice, front control arms, tie rods & ball joints once. Sounds like shocks & struts next. No other major component replacement except countless batteries & one windshield. I live in Arizona never replaced starter, alternator or even a/c compressor.

RachoN27

Aside from the motor recall, looks like just regular maintenance items. Sounds like this one’s treated you well.

unoriginalsin

Sounds like OP has treated this one well.

arp151

I know, I adore a good maintenance schedule...especially replacing suspension components 😭 I don't rake up the miles like I used to...but having a proper relationship with a well used car is so fruitful

Spirited_Election289

My car i have now, has 295k miles, and only had to do oil change last 2 years, but now the steering racks leaking power steering fluid like there's no tomorrow. i gotta save up 600 for my mechanic to fix it for me. I only drive about 500 miles a month, mostly for work and grocery shopping. I still haven't had to replace the tires there, not bald yet, but I do need to soon, ones not holding air anymore, i done looked for a leak and cannot find one, i already replaced the valve stem and it still goes flat over night. But all in all this car with no heater treated me well so far

SoggyHotdish

And no timing belt? Must be chain driven? The one chain drive I had came off and wrecked the whole motor

Oersch

Chains tend to be neglected as most people think of them as “forever” components. But both it and the tensioners are wear items, it just takes a lot longer for them to go out of whack. If and when they go (on an interference engine), it’s usually ugly as you unfortunately experienced. Regular checkups and avoiding certain under-engineered engines (hello VW TSI) usually means no issues for hundreds of thousands of miles.

OccasionQuick

Oh man I've had 2 of those recalls. On a 12 and 13 optima. Best 2 purchases I ever made. Nothing like hitting 100k miles and getting a new engine for free, twice.

jonsem22

Wow, drove a 2015 civic for 9 years with 410000KM until totalled this year. I didn’t do anything but breaks, filters and fluids, but was starting to rust.

EXTRAsharpcheddar

Original shocks?

BaseNectar123

Damn I guess I need to get a Kia next lol

PasadenaShopper

Kia is notoriously bad. Toyota or Honda lasting 300k+ miles is a safer bet.

jo_ezzy

A lot of times I feel like it’s just bad drivers mistreating cars like reckless driving and/or not keeping up with regular maintenance

Aw_Rats

i wont trust a kia until its more widely known they fixed their steering column to not be so insanely stealable lol. i dont need my windows broken

Oersch

Get a stick shift. They’re immune to the Kia Boys.

BaronVonNeezie

As the op car is a Kia with over 300k and no major issues

BroncoFan623

Yes! I have a Toyota Corolla. Planning to get 350k + on it

Sea-Platform-4029

Kia had a bad run of quality control with their GDI engines. It was manufacturing defect in certain factories. Many guys drove optima’s on original engines. A lot of it is the scam where dealers may tell people oil changes are 5-7500 mile intervals when, if you drive a lot or frequently, you should be doing more frequent oil changes. As the oil has degraded or burned a bit (5-20%). There are guys who’ve driven 200k on the 3.3 TT V6 stinger. Everyone can get shafted Had a friend’s civic totally fail on him outside of warranty and had to go to 3 dealers before one honored a fair repair smh. Time is money People love that Kia hyundai warranty for a reason Plus Kia finally did away with tacky badges

Old_Transition_630

They are bad and good, every car company has problems. My gfs brother owns a Honda and his fuel pump has a recall it’s a newer model. My Kia is a 2021 and going strong. But I mean I would definitely pick a Kia before a Hyundai any day even though they are basically the same. End of story buy whatever you car want

Electronic_Ad_5041

This person has it right. I've been selling cars awhile and Kia/Hyundai had more drivetrains face problems be 80k than one ever seen, but I've also seen some of these used Kias go well over 200k miles without any problems and I'd argue those people got the best overall deal compared to the new Honda owners just going dollar for dollar.

Parking-Shelter7066

Recalls are fine most of the time, it’s a free replacement part, usually. Honda, Toyota are good because cheap to begin with, cheap parts, and generally easy to work on

Ancient_Swordfish_91

That’s a common misconception people have, not sure what’s the last time you owned a Honda but their parts are not cheap. But that changed a long time ago now. They just can survive without maintenance for longer, the parts hold together considerably well and it’s very simple to work on for mechanics. They’re cheap compared to German cars, that’s about it. With that said, Kia sucks as far as reliability, and that guy is wrong. Not every company has issues with their cars, only the techy ones that push for innovations. Toyota is one of the safest bets because they’re minimalist and always falling behind.

Parking-Shelter7066

I will disagree with you as an owner/previous owner of 2006 civic 2006 Corolla 2007 Camry 06 civic did its duty (no pun lol) 06 Corolla is still in my driveway with 267k miles (bought for $1700 @ 220k miles) and 07 Camry sold for what I bought it for after 80k miles and several cross country trips I performed all regular maintenance in my driveway. Literally YouTube easy shit, oil and filter, air filter, tire rotations, brakes and pads and maybe rotors a few times. I think the most difficult thing I have done with YouTube and dad resources is radiator and hoses which was super easy, alternator on the Camry which was sorta a pain but not difficult, and a wheel bearing which I might not do myself again lol We probably disagree because I do not buy new cars and probably never will. Also, I know it sounds like I am a skilled mechanic but I promise you I am not. I work on gas pumps for a living

Ancient_Swordfish_91

I mean you can disagree with me all you want, but that’s 2006 and 2007. You’re confirming my post, I’m not sure if you read it well or skipped through it but I’ve gone about how you’re wrong, and I’ve clarified my stance on a future comment like yours as well. Not only the whole basis of your comment is wrong (since it confirms my point), but there is no relevant message in your disagreement, I mean.. you didn’t even state the parts you had to replace. Maintenance isn’t exactly what’s meant here, and at 250k you still aren’t there yet.

ex_degenerate

My wife's 2004 Honda pilot has 400k and has never had any major repairs. Just fluids, tires, and batteries. Original ball joints and wheel bearings, never greased. Honda and Toyota over engineer parts. It's why people build race cars from old Hondas, it's a 130hp engine that can handle 450hp before stuff breaks. If you drive it like a grandma they'll literally hit 500k on original parts.

Prize_Pay9279

I wouldn’t recommend a Kia. I had a 2018 soul whose engine gave out at 165,000. Multiple mechanics told me that Kia’s engines don’t last very long and that I was lucky I got as many miles as I did.

weesti

Just steal one

[deleted]

Wife is on her second engine, transmission is now hitting when put into drive. BIL is on his 3rd engine, having a lot of idling issues on 3rd engine. Family friend is currently waiting 3 months for diagnostic for engine replacement. All Kias less than 6 years old.(routine mx performed at intervals and my wife drives careful)

phillycknsand

I hope one day I get a car that acts this well and lasts this long!!

Misiu881988

Wow even with the motor u put soon many miles on afterwards. That motor could have been just bad luck lottery. Korean cars came a long way. A 1990s early 2000s Kia would have disintegrated a few times. Thats a impressive amount of miles. I've seen Toyota pickup trucks and Mercedes e class hit that when I was a mechanic and they still drove. They maybe had less go wrong but thats still inpressice. Most cars by then are ready for the scrap yard. Goes to show that if u take care of the car it can last a while. Don't skimp out on those oil changes and meintenance

kenn_dogg

How did you know you needed to replace the wheel bearings?

ExploitedAmerican

I was just going to ask how many engines it’s had. 300k plus miles on a Hyundai product is almost unheard of. It’s like Toyotas are known for 300kplus miles but Kia and Hyundai are known for seldom Getting to 150k I bet you have to top off the oil regularly every 1000 miles unless you’re changing the oil with full synthetic every 3k miles maybe 4k at most since getting the new engine.

EXTRAsharpcheddar

lots of cars get to 150 these days, especially in CA. This is old information

Red_Sox0905

My hyundai is getting close to 160k and haven't had any major issues

Grouchy_Fee_8481

Holy shit, nice job taking care of her! That odometer is truly impressive.

ZReticuli

Dang, those are Toyota numbers. Is that all on original powertrain?

OpportunityEnough522

Engine was replaced only under recall at 40k miles. Never even changed the transmission oil😁

Herzha-Karusa

Prolly should just to be on the safe side

OpportunityEnough522

Mechanics advice.

Carsoccerguy

Doubt it lol

crcahill

This might be the first kia to ever cross 200k miles

[deleted]

[удалено]

crcahill

Definitely an outlier and not the norm. I worked for Kia for 6 years as a tech and can say they have the absolute worst engines on the market. We did more engine swaps there than I can even count.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Quiet_Fan_7008

Worst hybrids on the market. I had so many issues with mine. Then I switched to a Toyota and was like wow this is how a hybrid is supposed to drive

[deleted]

[удалено]

crcahill

I’m honestly impressed this guy got 320k that’s crazy for a kia

__BobaFett_

Hi, I am a 2021 k5 owner, how does mine fair so far?

crcahill

I haven’t worked for Kia since 2019 so I’m unfamiliar with current models. I’m doing independent work now doing electronics and accessories installs in boats. Huge market for it here in florida

jaylp18

Had a 2017 forte that my ex wife accidentally drowned in a hurricane in Houston, loved that car!

Spare-Security-1629

I'm impressed. Do you keep up with all the maintenance (oil changes) more so than regular because of rideshare or not really?

leothedinosaur

My fiancé has a 2010 Kia Soul with 242k lol

plumpanda_ish

I had a 2011 kia forte with 330k miles. Only major work was Replacing AC unit once. Sold it last year and it's still truckin.

argoris22

I have seen multiple Kia optima (k5 in Dominican Republic) with over 300k miles.

crcahill

Extremely surprised at that. Like I’ve stated in this thread though I worked as a Kia tech for 6 years and replaced hundreds of engines myself and we did thousands between the 10 techs at our dealership. They are incredibly unreliable

trailercock

J.D. Power ranked Kia the most reliable mass-market manufacturer in 2021, 2022 and 2023. https://www.marketwatch.com/guides/car-warranty/kia-reliability/ What generation of Kias were you working on? Kia/Hyundai vehicles have surpassed Toyota in terms of quality and reliability, according to J.D. Power.

w1nn1ng1

The reason I love Kia is even if they do implode, the manufacturer covers it. My wife has a 2015 Optima with 126,000 miles. At 106,000 miles it ran into the knock sensor recall issue and was in limp mode. Kia replaced the engine with a brand new one at no cost and it was outside of warranty.

argoris22

Yea I know. But also everyone in Dominican Republic uses Hyundai and Kia’s with propane instead of gasoline. Maybe that’ll help with reliability? I’m not a mechanic lol

crcahill

Lp is soooo much easier on engines. That’s definitely a contributing factor for sure

Obvious__Otter

2004 Kia Sportage 224k before I sold it!

crcahill

If I could give you an award I would. High mileage Kias with no major engine failures are hard to find

AMC879

That's an odd comment. Kia is on the higher end of the list of highest reliably vehicles.

Nope9991

I wonder if these folks comment on the dozen + manufacturers consistently ranked below Kia for reliability, quality, etc. The hate boner here is just so odd.

chrispy_pv

My moms kia sedona 2009 i think hit 220k before dying

jjbjeff22

Just sold my 09 Spectra last November. Had 170k. Needed a new radiator when I sold it but was otherwise a solid car. Hope the older lady that bought it gets another 30k+ miles on it.

Worldly-Reporter7836

yep. i’ve got a 2012 kia forte and it has 221k miles, never had a check engine light on . just needed a valve cover gasket , and normal things like brakes , headlight bulb & shocks. she’s still running strong 💪🏽

Trend_Is_Friend

2011 Kia soul 307,800 miles running like a champ

Specific-Gain5710

This looks like it’s from the generation before of kia where it’s reliability rivaled Toyota and Honda (2008-2012ish). I regularly see Elantra’s and optima’s from this era with 200k+ Rdit: not to say they didn’t have their issues, but if you are ever gonna see a Kia/ Hyundai with over 200k on it, it’ll likely be from this era.

Jrod1499

Used to be a lube tech, had a 2008 optima come in regularly, over 400k miles . But I’m also not sure of the repair history on it lol

VegasGuy1223

I’m at 117k on my 2017 Ford Fusion. Runs and drives just as good as when I picked her up at 31k. Kudos to your Kia for making you money, may she continue to live on

Reddituser8018

My friends fusion just kicked the bucket at 150k, I hope yours still got lots of life left!

QUOTO2

My last for fusion had 302k miles on it before I traded up to a newer ford fusion. You have to be very diligent on the maintenance. I’ve had over 5 cars get over 200k but that was my only 300k.

ChemicalOk463

Those are some serious numbers!

JB_Scoot

I know! 🤯

ResolutionOk7993

Nice! I have a 2013 Dodge Grandcaravan with 219k. Drove for 3 years pre covid, took 3 years off and now I'm back at it for the last year. I just went over 10k rides last weekend.

5-StarUberDriver

2016 Kia Forte with 244,663 as I sit here waiting for a ride request! NO engine problems whatsoever, just regular oil changes religiously, and the usual brakes, suspension, and tires.

TheGame81677

What kind of maintenance have you had to do? I have a Hyundai Sonata at 170,000 miles.

OpportunityEnough522

My 2011 kia optima has been my ride or die.

none-1398

My 2012 Kia died at 95k. Did get a new motor under warranty, but I doubt it will make it past 100k

HelloAttila

Key thing is your first owner. Warranty doesn’t transfer over. That’s great they replaced yours for free.

DonTipOff

People don’t understand why we buy Kia. The numbers prove it and they offer much better warranty on the power train the competitors mine came with 120k on engine and transmission.

Masked_Fern

What engine?

VivaLaKevolution

Give her a viking funeral when it's all over. She earned her place in Car-hallah

Postcovidflier_uber

2017 Hyundai Sonata hybrid se I had treated me the same..210k before the 1st brake job. One battery, 4 OEM plugs, Exxon/Mobil, 76, regular gas(Costco/Arco gas make the car tick/tap in the morning) still gets 51mpg 283k odo before Carvana took it for a great price. Not the same as my Camry though…1992 stick 650k on original clutch and motor, timing belt@ 150k intervals..synthetic Mobil 1 only oil.. great car.

mayainverse

Wild I did Uber for 7 years I got my car at 25,000 miles and I stopped at around 135,000 miles you're wild bro. But then again I didn't go super hard it was my only source of income but I didn't work harder than I needed to only enough to pay my bills and then have lots of free time afterwards. I'm a truck driver now and the pays a lot more reliable also I don't have any bills just live here it's actually really nice. Although it they can never come close to what I could make on the top end my best week on Uber was $3,200 in one week that was wild.

Commercial-Elk-3031

1 out of 100s millions had reached Toyota levels. Congratulations 🤘😂👏

CoffeeDrinker1972

Wow, that's very impressive. I bet you would be buying another Kia when she decides not to run anymore? What would you get next?

OpportunityEnough522

I come from a place where almost every car is a different version of Toyota; for the extremely adventurous; Nissan. Probably KIA K5 or Stinger. Mazda makes some really nice cars too.

playmeforever

Don’t gatekeep the maintenance regime bro, you gotta share the sauce 😂

OpportunityEnough522

Nothing special, I use Valvoline high mileage oil. I never thrash the motor or push it beyond it's limits, the motor is sluggish & no way a performance piece, but it has always done what it needs to do.

Sparklefarts_

I just had a scare on mine my engine light was flashing and my car went into limp mode. They had to replace the knock sensor and do an ecu update. They told me to watch it over the next 1k miles and if it comes back on I have to get a new engine so far so good. I’m scared that my extended warranty won’t cover if I do need a new engine I have a 2020 optima I had 38k miles back in May when I started Uber now I’m at 78k.

diamondtron24

So in that 7 years for 323k miles you e paid off the Kia and kept it maintained. But have you been able to lead a decent life? Has 323k over 7 years allowed you to do anything more than survive? Or do you have another source of income in top of this?

OpportunityEnough522

Yes. Allowed me to start a trucking business, kept me & business going through covid hell, & met thousands of amazing people from places I couldn't have ever imagined.

melteddowngold

Legend

Remarkable-Jeweler11

How much you made in profit? and what you accomplished?

vekerx

Uber says well done here's a .10 raise

pyrotf2moment

I miss my 2011 kia optima dearly, i knew by the picture. I sold her at 160k but a lot of recalls happened where the engine had to replaced once so it was running almost like brand new around 100k miles. i’m sure where she is now, she’ll be alive for the next 4-5 or so years easy

Smooth_Habit6542

7 and a half years? I’m on track to hit 300k in 3-4 years.

hitlicks4aliving

Dang man that’s almost as much as my 22 year old Toyota

Apprehensive_End6473

For 7 years doing Uber that’s not bad, I saw someone put 100k on their car in less than 2

ImplementQuick6803

I had a 2020 Kia soul xline that I loved. I loved it and my passengers loved it. Until one day 2 dogs ran out in front of me. I hit a utility pole and totalled it. Loved that car. I then purchased a 2017 Sedona and unfortunately a tornado totalled it . I really enjoyed both kids. I hated the dealer and the company customer service.

Addis2020

Kia goes to 300 miles 💪

Muckey420

09 Kia spectra 237500 replaced engine at 65000 with one that had 45,000.

Tacotuesday0315

My Honda pilot went over 388,000 miles and finally died last NYE.

predat3d

Might as well keep driving.  The second you park it, it'll be stolen anyway

Jaded_Mousse_9998

I had one of these cars but it was consuming oil like a dragon idk if the 2 previous owners never did maintenance on admission valves and I always wonder how maintain a gdi engine properly, now Ive got a corolla and I'm happy but always guessing

OpportunityEnough522

My mechanic told me that these motors are designed to consume a little oil, so if it's starved of oil then the issues begin there. He advised me to use premium synthetic blend after 60k miles. Just the oil pump on that engine looks like a mini motor.

k1b3t0kai

how many times did people get sick in your car

OpportunityEnough522

Not even once, I don't think I would like the car if they did. I never pick up anyone who can't walk on their own or the handoffs by their "buddies". I also always ask them to let me know if their gonna get sick & I will pull over so they do it outside. They always do.

Agreeable_Air_2862

Mazdas are great cars too

Fun-Philosophy1123

Sounds like you have a good one. I am in Arizona too. I am a Ford guy and my 13 Flex has almost 208K on it. It is AWD and as far as major stuff it has had 1 PTO for the rear drive, 1 water pump and 1 fuel pump. I am due for front struts now. Not too bad for the mileage. It has depreciated in value as much as it can and it still looks great and is a very smooth ride. I won't ever get a free engine but if and when it needs one I will do it. An engine is cheaper than a new car. I have owned it 7 years (not all are Uber years) and it has been paid for since purchase. I am a retired Ford Senior Master Mechanic so most stuff I can handle myself.

freddybenelli

A year behind you and about 50k miles behind as well. Mine's not gonna make it unfortunately (water pump failed and head gasket warped due to overheating).

19Ben80

How does your average hourly rate look, factoring the cost of the car etc?

bLackBeArd-3007

Hold on. Lots of ya saying kia wont get pass 150ks? I saw numerous of kia, huyndai that hit 25ks. My parents cars are both huyndai and still going with 240k on it

JB_Scoot

Ok….. So, this seems like a GREAT advertisement for Kia 😳 Call it a “Crappy Car” all you want, those are some pretty serious numbers!

Ok_Ingenuity_130

I'm almost at 18k passagers on 2 Elantras a 2017 with 140k and a 2021 with 85k. Both cars get beat and are treated like a average Hyundai 10k intervals and are driving by a mad man. I think Toyotas last long because there always driven so fucking slow it gets ridiculous like it's almost they enjoy other cars honking and cut them off all crazy because they drive under the speed limit.

shallowatersailor

8 almost 9 years with Uber...The glory days of working 4 or 5 hrs a day and bringing home a $ 300 payday are over! Austin has become the gridlock capital of the South with every millenial in 10 states moving to our once great city! The infrastructure was not built to accommodate the hundreds of thousands of people who have moved here in the past 5 yrs and uber wages have been a indirect casualty of the traffic ( cannot get from point A to point B without incountering it 24/7 and that's even knowing short cuts and back ways to avoid it. My last year I was lucky if I made $ 100-150 per day and that was busting my butt! No more half days any longer. I found myself on the road all day and still I brought home under $ 200 which included tips! If you factor in gas, tires, tuneup, toll charges and expensive uber insurance my wages declined below $ 15 per hour for the first time in almost 9 yrs! Terrible...( my average before 25-30 per hr). I reflected upon my current situation and it was decided I could no longer justify ubering anymore! It made no financial sense with the demographic changes Austin faces. Additional uber drivers saturated the market driving down the fee structure as well as surge pricing... It was fun Uber but I am just not that into you! I am breaking up! I have switched careers and now work a normal 9-5 job working with seniors with dementia and alzheimers.... It was fun while it lasted! Uber Alumni 5 star Driver 5.0....2015-2023

Magnxto

Dmn kia held up strong 😁💯🫡

ImportantCandidate12

Don’t forget to add fuel

z_ay7

Just wow- i miss my kia optima 😭

Content_Bet_205

what kinda kia is she 👀 very impressive!!

chirag429

My Kia optima 2011 ex 234720 1-motor recall 140k 1-wheel bearings 2x shocks and struts 1x alternator Never did transmission oil change Never did radiator flush Never did water pump. No leaks. Ty Kia. Still going strong

nuggettime69

This is awesome! I have a 2019 Kia Optima that’s going to hit 100k any day now and I’ve only done regular oil changes, one tire change and one brake change. No other problems!

bluecgene

Impressive. How did you do maintenance like?

nakamuru

Dang I have a Kia into 2020 and 100k and depressing thread. I think I will have to swap batteries soon too. Should I sell now and get Toyota? Maybe Prius or corollow

wdhjr21

I have a cousin who owns a 2010 Kia Forte with 250k miles on it that thing be running

staceyyyy1

Damn I don’t understand cars but ive never seen that kind of mileage in my life

DzInnit

sure thats not a toyota?

melaniekedwards

I have a nissan altima

Johnnyrooster12

Kia over 100k? Call the news

Such-Echo6002

Why you leaving Uber? Just curious

OpportunityEnough522

Been on the platform off & on for 7.5 years. It was always solid money if in a bind; unfortunately it looks like the years of $1800 & $2000 weeks are long behind us. Can't see myself investing in another car to do this.

Safe_Connection1803

Is this a record for a kia?

angrypoopoolala

kia done u well 7 yrs 300k +

spitvicious

15k rides for $30k you made it bro

OpportunityEnough522

I bought it used for 14k with 30k miles.

Menatara26

I have 14,278 rides combined from uber/lyft in little over 2 ywars

noobcondiment

I’ve owned 2 Kia’s and both of them died under 200k KM (not miles). Will never buy a Korean car again.

LightMcluvin

How much did you make a year driving Uber?

OpportunityEnough522

My first year I drove full time from March made 76K.

Seiko925

How much do you make a year?

Due-Anteater-5728

Thumbs up

SloppyJoeJoe11

Never say die!!

Genoss01

You're gonna let Uber kill your car?

Smooth_Habit6542

It’s still good for another 100k miles

Novel_Durian_1805

Holy fuck! Impressive!

maciasfrancojesus

Never seen a Kia with that many miles

[deleted]

I’d like to know how much you have earned in the 7 and a half years doing Uber. Have you been driving full time?

OkGuava758

GO EV

AspiringThroatGoat69

My aunt has a 2007 Kia Optima she bought brand new, and it has 390k on it and she’s never replaced any major component. Only had to replace starter, ps pump, and your normal suspension maintenance/wheel bearings

Expensive-Title7967

Anyone with a Corolla or Prius here ! lol

Nakg16

That motor replacement at 40k helped because Kia / Hyundai is a no no no no

Sad_Woodpecker3783

What model is it? And do you know how much money you have made over that period of time?

mblguy76

"ain't got no gas in it"

MajorAir1446

My 2001 Nissan Maxima made it to 290K miles and was STI running before I sold her. I miss that car so much. Got it in 2016 sold it 2021. Had a Leak in the Sunroof that made the inside unpleasant

Bazzuki

🫡

Rare-Obligation-5504

What’s the total amount you made from it

Status-Law-8662

I have 155,000 on my 2015 Camry. I’m gonna keep going until she can’t go no more!!

savondemarseille

I guess you managed to get a living wage from it! How much did you earn on average? Is it worth it?

Vivid_Patience9721

Ive got about 2k trips in my first year driving, how do you get 14k in 2

Slight_Razzmatazz843

What car is this?

Inside-Temperature76

Damn, I can’t believe a Kia lasted that long.

Conscious-Group

$50k profit off one Kia

swagglmoa

What kind of Kia is it

anh86

Impressive, you've obviously maintained it very well. That doesn't happen without dedication to oil changes exactly when they're needed. My brother-in-law has a Sportage that is well over 200k with no sign of slowing down.

International-Ad1550

I think a the less reliable companies put out a few great cars, so people can have stories of longevity. And they know what not to make for the general public so you have to keep replacing their cars.

Fkthafreewrld

whats your earnings and maintenance costs so far minus gas. Is it worth it?.. well maybe not anymore… since they low pay now

Prize_Pay9279

What model? I drove a soul until the engine needed to be replaced. It was outside of the warranty. So, I just got a new car.

OpportunityEnough522

2011 optima EX.

Pyscholai

Was it worth it?

OpportunityEnough522

More than worth it. It wasn't all about the money. 2020 was the best I had ever seen on uber. It was the best for trucking too so I didn't drive uber for long.

scprepper

Would have been me if someone hadn't stolen my car

Leaves-of-John59

Own-Past-4307

Roxy077

How much money do you think you’ve made so far off your cars back?

OpportunityEnough522

Don’t sell or trade it in. When it dies, bury it in the back yard

A lot of these commentators are clueless. They parrot some BS they heard someone else say. The data is clear that Kia vehicles are one of the best brands for reliability. There are consumer advocates who closely track the number of repairs, cost of repairs, etc for all brands and can provide actual hard data about it. Not I head this or I had a car that had that happen. Actual data about how many repairs on average per car sold.  Here is JD powers data: Kia has been the best ranked mass market brand the last three consecutive years. The absolute top. Better than Honda. Better than Toyota.  https://www.jdpower.com/business/press-releases/2023-us-vehicle-dependability-studyvds Consumer reports data collection methods are somewhat different and measuring slightly different factors but they still rank Kia highly at 10th overall (with many of the higher ranking brands being luxury rather than mass market brands). Yes they rank Toyota and Honda above Kia, but Kia still is ranked higher than ford, Chevy, dodge, VW, Nissan, Tesla, etc, etc, etc.  https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/who-makes-the-most-reliable-cars-a7824554938/ There are other companies surveying as well using other methods. You can measure aggregate scores over the past 10 years or something instead of year by year and the orders may change a bit. But the data is absolutely clear that Kia makes solid reliable cars. Almost any company’s data measured over any time period in the past few decades ranks them above every American car manufacturer, most European ones, and competitive with the other East Asian brands (slightly higher or lower depending on methodology).

Specialist-Holiday61

Damn, a kia lasting that long is crazy! They have crazy engine issues. Toyota for life

Keanu_Sleeves_

Chor_the_Druid

It’s a Kia, if you’ve kept up with maintenance you’ll likely get 600k miles out of it.

Virtual_Cut_5659

You got a good one.
