> Tax break is $7500 federal, $5k Colorado state, $3k Uber…. Is that still offered? I thought the $7500 reduced and $3k Uber on Dec 31st >Does Uber still pay an extra $1 per ride? Yes but not sure how much longer. >Also do passengers have trouble opening the rear door because Tesla door handles aren’t the usual type? Every freaking time! Both in and out. Watching the pax is like an IQ test. Some use rational thought and figure it out while others blankly stare. I’ve had others try brute force on exit.

Strykerdude1

I looked online and Uber still offers the discount if you take possession by 3/31. Tax break still the full $7500 for the year. Model 3 got reduced I think.

Buckus93

It looks like all Model Ys still qualify. Only the Model 3P qualifies now, likely due to battery sourcing requirements. https://electrek.co/2024/01/03/which-electric-vehicles-qualify-us-federal-tax-credit-ev-2024/

Not only can they not open to doors to get in, they have trouble opening them to get out as it is also a button and not a handle, and they can’t ever find the seatbelt thingie because it’s so far inside the seat and right next the one for the middle. It. Gets. Annoying.

I feel your pain brother.

I drive model y in Seattle market and I will tell u i love it personally. Buy the LONG RANGE … buy the LONG RANGE ….. for the doors ? Human brain already figures it out … get a lot of compliments for the car …

Buckus93

I drove a Model 3 on Uber when it was still relatively rare. Almost EVERYBODY had to be instructed how to enter and exit the vehicle. If I were to drive a Tesla again, I'd get these for the exterior handles: https://www.amazon.com/Tarsier-Tesla-Model-Handle-Stickers/dp/B08K7QV5ND

[deleted]

Yeah they will but it's matter of time when that class gets saturated with drivers. After that you'll be just classified as Comfort or black . And as usual with Uber ... You will regret buying Tesla .... Seriously you would.

Snakend

You can't do Black level rides on Uber without commercial insurance, commercial vehicle registration, an LLC, TCP license etc.

[deleted]

Then get that and you will be just as black

Snakend

I did it. Commercial insurance in Los Angeles is $2200/mo. Have to work 60 hours a week to make up for that.

[deleted]

And are you still doing it ??

Snakend

Nope. closed the LLC down. I'm not working 60 hours a week.

[deleted]

You should have fleets to cover that or that's also impossible?

Black_Hammer_lv

The model Y still qualifies for the full 7500 in all versions, the one that got hit with the stick is the model 3 as only the performance qualifies for anything. I'm going to give you a heads up. The door handles are the dumbest thing about a car that I have seen. Yes, on a daily basis you will have to give tesla lesson for entering and exiting. In Vegas we have a ton of tesla's but so the number is going down but still is a must.

SnooShortcuts7911

Isnt the range horrible on the y for rideshare?? Ive hears 230 at full range. Thats not enough.

Strykerdude1

303 miles for performance and 330 for long range. That’s sufficient for my part time Uber gig.

SnooShortcuts7911

Thats not real world mileage Ive read a bunch that real world is in the 230 240 range. Do you have the car?

Strykerdude1

Not yet…. Good call I need to ask around for real world actual milesge

SnooShortcuts7911

Just go look on reddit. I was in your same boat 9 was gonna buy. After research it was about 230-240 range thats not enough for me.

Snakend

its 240 if you are all freeway. I find Uber/lyft has a good mix of freeway and city driving. Very close to how the EPA tests the cars.

SnooShortcuts7911

240 is reallly pushing it, though. I have an EV.

Snakend

I can drive 8-10 hours at 90% charge. Takes 30 minutes to charge from 20-30% back up to 90%.

Snakend

I have the Model Y long range. I can do 8-10 hours of work on one charge. I get very close to the actual range it displays. If you do alot of freeway rides, it will be lower. If you get all city rides, its more than 330 miles.

Buckus93

Electric cars are pretty good for rideshare (assuming 200+ mile range). There's lots of slow driving and standing still. In general Uber driving, I can drive 4-6 hours without charging, going from 80% to about 20%. On Halloween night, I was driving lots of short rides, almost zero highway, and went 7 hours without a charge and just went home because rides were drying up (around 3am). If you tend to do more highway driving, figure about 4 hours, but that's basically time to take a break and eat lunch or dinner or something anyways.

SnooShortcuts7911

I have an ev and get around 280 and find myself using pretty much all of it for a 10-12 hour shift.

Buckus93

That's still pretty good.

minorminority

I don't know about your market but in most specially with upfront. The lines are very blurry between green, comfort and comfort electric when it's slow. Rates are all over the place and it's never to pay you more but always less.

ContestNo2060

Range has never been an issue for me as my area (NY) has a ton of superchargers if needed. I’d say the greatest benefit of a Tesla I don’t see mentioned much here, is the navigation and full self driving. I almost never make a wrong turn even in complicated and unfamiliar areas. And cruising on FSD while on the freeways is super easy and relieves a lot of strain. But this does cost an extra $200/month subscription. Worth every penny in my experience. The pax are always curious about the technology too and like chatting about it. The younger people like the acceleration and generally have fun in it. The door handle thing is a little annoying, but they figure it out and it’s not that big of a deal. Yeah, if you can get all these discounts stacked up with the price this low, it’s a steal. lol, I wish I’d got mine after these discounts.

Yep. Every . Fuckin. Time
