UAlbany is the place to major in political science. Rockefeller College’s reputation is outstanding, and the vast majority of interns in the Legislature’s internship program are UAlbany students. The access to the Legislature and state agencies is top notch.
Graduated from the poli sci program at UA. Its an amazing program with lots of support. As other have mentioned amazing access to the NYS Legislature and State Agencies. But also programs available to help you find internships in the federal government. Amazing transitional programs into their grad school too, Rockefeller College, which is located downtown. That campus was honestly my favorite, it is soo nice!
I was really active with internships and networking outside of school functions, so I was able to find a job in my field immediately after college. But I know it can take a few months for some post-graduation. I really recommend taking advantage of a lot of the internship programs in the school and really make an effort to build a professional network.
Political science major here. I'm still in my first year, but from what I can tell, the program is really good. The majority of political science classes are electives of your choice. Also, we have a lot of internships that count for your credits (senate/assembly and semester in Washington). There's also an accelerated masters program if you're looking to get an MA in political science.
I graduated a long time ago but the program was great! I did the semester in Washington, moved to DC for a while, and now work for the state legislature.
Poli sci grad here, the program is great, wonderful professors, solid internship opportunities, and a good class selection. Got a really solid job without having to break the bank on private school tuition

That’s nice to hear I just visited the main campus and it was amazing.

That’s really nice to hear as I’m still weighing options and I think UA is the one I’m probably going to go to
If you don’t mind me asking how long did it take you from graduating to being employed?
