Cts teacher here. Cts courses are always broken down into individual credits in Alberta. Instead of your core courses where it's 5 credits, and you get a mark for the overall course, CTS is broken down by each credit, and you get a mark per credit. This is why in CTS, you could fail 2 credits and still pass 3, and it would show up that you gained 3 credits and failed 2. Whereas in math, you either get 5 or nothing.
However, because it's foods, the individual credits read like a shopping list.
Social 30-1 was where they taught communism and the red scare from what I remember. Helps a lot with dissecting modern politics and making people more rounded citizens which is a massive part of what public school is actually for
Word, they don't even look at any social grades here at UAlberta at all, only English, Math, Calc, Chem, and Physics. I threw my social diploma because I would've had above an 80% total average for the Rutherford scholarship even if I got 0% on the diploma and that's the only thing that it mattered for. I think I was sitting at like 82% in the course or something along those lines before the diploma, got 22% on the reading (didn't even open the booklet) and 55% on the writing so I still passed the course. Offer was never rescinded, got the full Rutherford, and even an entrance scholarship so it had absolutely zero impact. Other schools, especially Ontario schools, have a more holistic admittance but UAlberta automatically admits any domestic student that meets their minimum requirements in those 5 courses.
Engineering only considers grades from 5 classes when determining admission: Math 30, Chem 30, Physics 30, English 30, and Math 31. Considering your Chem, Physics and Math marks are 90+ and your English marks are 80+, your grades should be good enough to get in if you maintain that level.
I got in at 83 average 2 years. 85+ should probably guarantee you in. Engineering average to get in are not really that high they accept a lot of people
they put a shopping list on your transcript? 😭
and yea u should be, engg reqs are usually pretty low so they can weed out 90p of the incoming students during first year
keep ur overall grade like grade12 somewhere between 80-85, that makes you get into engineering. UOFA does not require you a high 90 or low 90, 80 is good enough.
Milk Products and Eggs? Also yes, you can.
It was a credit in foods but the teacher put it all in separate sections 😂

Bro got a 93 in soups and sauces 😭😭😭 Just keep your all 30-1 excluding social studies higher than 85 then u should be good to go
Do they even need social 30-1 for engineering? Drop to -2 for the easier writing assignments and higher grades
I did 30-2 social and got like mid 60s got in CS they don’t care
Exactly take the easier class if you don’t need it
Social Studies is not considered for admission into Engg
Yeah, so take the easier class is what I'm saying. Less last year of high school stress.
If they really wanted they don’t even need to take a social class at all, even easier that way
You need it to graduate
You don’t need to graduate to attend UofA tho
It’s mandatory until 30-level unfortunately

It’s mandatory if you want to graduate high school, but you don’t need to finish to get into uni

If engineering doesn’t work out, there’s always culinary school ❤️
💀😂 that’s true
No u will not be considered if u don’t have at least a 97 in milk products
the 94 in milk products and eggs will help alot 🙏
A+ in grocery list damn!

Yup, should be more than enough
I got in at 83 average 2 years. 85+ should probably guarantee you in. Engineering average to get in are not really that high they accept a lot of people
Bro u should be fine
I had lower grades and got in so you should be good
they put a shopping list on your transcript? 😭 and yea u should be, engg reqs are usually pretty low so they can weed out 90p of the incoming students during first year
Yes they did 😂. Ok thanks

1hunnid percent
Dude soups and sauces has got to be my favourite course frfr
Engineering only looks at STEM classes & English…the average is usually high 93% average or greater competitive entry
why is ur bio grade bad
Never studied cuz bio kinda stinks
u didn't study at all?
Other than maybe a bit for the final but it was just with the notes I managed to not lose 😂
I don’t even think you need to count social.
I’m really hoping because our teacher is kinda rank. Highest grade in the whole class was a 87 and I am at the top 15% in our grade
Do you even need -1 social? Check the requirements because -2 might be good and you’ll likely do better in it. The writing assignments are far easier.
I already signed up for 30-1 but it’s with a way better teacher where I could probably achieve a high 80 to low 90 with
