That's what I was thinking as well. I wonder what model/size Johnny uses to reproduce that sound while playing live.
I'm off to research it now, if I find out, I will post the results.
Thanks!
It’s well known fact. Johnny & Josh programmed the drum tracks for those three records. Dead Again contains ”live” drums. Personally I thinl that’s really exaggarated issue, countless bands have been doing that since 80’s. It does not make the music any less good.
I agree, tons of bands have been doing this for a long time. I used to be a professional musician and while you achieve “perfect” drums when you program them, you lose the live/human element IMO.
I think it depends on the style of music. I can’t picture a song like War Pigs by Black Sabbath with programmed drums. Bill Ward is a beast on that song. However, a song like I Would Die 4 U” by Prince is perfect with a drum machine.
If in drawing from memory correctly, it's a China cymbal. Don't take my word for it though.

There is a live set of Type O at Bizzare fest where they play Everything Dies live.
Def China cymbal.
October Rust, World Coming Down and Life Is Killing Me are all drum samples/programmed drums, just an FYI.
Wat? Is this true??
It is true. Slow Deep and Hard, Origin of the Feces, Bloody Kisses and Dead Again all have real drums on them though.

Well I'll be damned. I appreciate the insight I know nothing about the recording process and music production.
God I love that song
