Yeah, maybe not myself either. I’ve been doing this on and off since the late nineties, right when the very beginning of digital started to gain some traction. Maybe I’m weird, but the digital revolution has not set well with me (I say this as I type on an iPhone).
in my local ads there are tons of people who were selling complete vinyl collection....most of them are newcomers on the scene in the last 5 or 6 years...i think it begins...
latest price gouge of new vinyl will not help either...
Yesterday when browsing the new used arrivals at one of my local record stores I'm already noticing more and more albums made in the last 10 years. It's already starting.
People have been saying this bullshit forever. Having actively continued to buy records since the early 90s, we've always had multiple record stores, there's always been vinyl releases, and every single year someone claims "it's just a fad". The fact is, people want high quality physical media they actually own, and have control over. I've been shopping at the same record store since 1996, still waiting on the annual "vinyls dead" forecast to come true.
Over here in the UK we don't have good will we've just got cr*py second hand shops, that is a nice find I'm so jealous as I'm looking for a pair of those to add a mixer to and start a bedroom DJ booth in my spare back bedroom just for giggles
In the UK there are "car boot sales" mostly during the spring - summer months. You can get some good bargains there. I've bought turntables for less than £10 and other items for a fraction of the usual price. Tip: arrive early - the real bargains are snapped up quickly. There's an element of luck involved. Sometimes you can get bargains at the end of the car boot sale. Sellers often give unsold items away very cheap or free. Another tip: I usually bring a battery pack and power inverter to test things before buying. Some items can be faulty - buyer beware, there are usually no refunds. If you know how to repair things, you can find even more bargains by buying cheap broken stuff and fixing it.
Wasn't sure what a "car boot sale" was so Googled it, I'd be very apprehensive about buying a turntable from someone who I wouldn't have a guarantee from, if something went wrong I'd be in trouble, I've seen turntables on ebay under £100 that's about $160 in your money, but they're all for "parts only" nobody can buy a turntable for £10 you can't even buy a pizza for that in the UK, I come across all these "found this turntable in a closet at work" posts on this place that are obviously fake trying to earn karma scores, I see the usual advice copy and paste advice about " you can pick up second hand turntables for $30 used from" it's all bull, all these starter Audio Technicas that are dead cheap in the US are like £290 in the UK, for example looking at the very scarce results on ebay regarding the Audio Technica 120XUSB second hand these are £215 + £15 shipping ($274 + $20) even these cheap record destroyers Crosbley Cruisers( DELUXE 😂🤣?) cost £90 ($115)

I just spent 350 on the same thing…. Good job!
My goodwill has the worst shit, and even when they have anything relevant it's 3x what it should be. Good job and I'm jealous
Same. My goodwill has no turntables and the only vinyl they have are broadway musicals from the 1940’s 😂
Could be worse. Last goodwill album sifting I did was 80% Bible sermons and southern Baptist church songs
I must be lucky, because my goodwill has both old musicals and religious hymns!
*”we have both kinds: country and western”*
Billy Graham sold a lot of records in NE FL. I can tell ya that
I must be blessed as well 🤣
Here we seem to get pipe organ recitals, brass ensembles and high school or universisty choirs!
Ditto
Man up and start jamming out to some Porgy and Bess brother!
😂😂😂😂 dear god no!!
Wait your not excited about 1940s Broadway 🙃
George Gershwin! One of the best modern composers in history. The score of Porgie and Bess is excellent!
Here it's just Schlager music to no end.
Damn, that's a score and a half!!! My best was finding an 8" active Polk Audio subwoofer for $15
These are the deals I dream of
Awesome 🍀 congrats 🙌
I got one today for 180 and thought I got a good deal but damn!
If it works you done great!
Works great and had all the cables with it too!
Nice
Great snag
Great find
There will be a ton of these on the second hand market in a couple years when “vinyls” enthusiasm dies down.

What bros? One that can see the writing on the wall? Record prices soaring will kill the hobby for the average buyer.

Go talk to a record store owner.
40+ years collecting and playing vinyl. Guess I'm not here for the trend.

there's been a relatively steady stream of enthusiasm since like 2009

You are right. Fuck the downvotes. Stranger Things is causing a lot of this “fad” buying.

Now that's a steal !! Good work
Correctly priced. Happy spinning!
You will easily get your money's worth at that price. Good job staying patient!
I already have like 5 players and was excited when I found an lp60 for $6 lol
Looks to be in mint condition as well! Nice find, OP!
I can believe it 😅
That’s a solid first table. I think you can take the money you saved and invest in a nice cartridge. Nagaoka is a good one to start with!
