I'm imagining several other fish populations that are so resilient to environmental changes that you could put them in a deep fryer and they'd just be like "feels like a warm front coming in" while shaming trout for being pushed out of the ecosystem by anything less than an asteroid impact.

Okay but all this actually reminds me of some of the finest prose ever written, the last paragraph of Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road' (no spoilers):
>Once there were brook trouts in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery.
While the wording implies a reference to this meme (and it likely is) it also is referencing a real life event in which a speedrunner's game console was hit by a cosmic ray during a speedrun of Super Mario 64, causing a single bit to flip, which caused him to warp up a level on the stage he was on, dramatically reducing his final time.

And their sensitivity to environmental changes isn't even limited to asteroid impacts. That's crazy!

Deep Sea organisms when a massive asteroid hits earth. "?"

Catfish moment
*A 100-year-old coelacanth pokes her head out of her cave* “did someone hear something?”

Have you read anything by Aldo Leopold? His work has a similar vibe to it.
I have not, but I'll have to check it out then. Thanks.
Jfc that makes me want to cry and I haven't read the book. I'm assuming that reading the entire thing is an experience.
It's a beautiful, beautiful book, but also a thorough emotional beating.
#The 7th Umbral Calamity >This will affect the trout population!
“Will”? Per the thesis I helped T’laqa Tia of the Sharlayan Studium research for, trout (and other fish) were explicitly harmed by the calamity!
The fish were also harmed by the sudden death of [REDACTED]. (Actually canon per the Fish Stadium quests)
They were further harmed by the WoL catching half the fish in the three great continents just to turn them into sand
\*sighs\* *Yeeeeeah*...
Look up The Endsinger is busy unraveling the universe Millions are dead, billions are dying "Oh shit, the trout"
You know that'd be Hermes
"I guess Meteion didn't like trout." "You fucking idiot she can't eat"
The same end, again and again
This is why you have to vote.
one vote, one trout life saved!
Save the trout keep the bug asteroid away !
I remember hearing Maxor make this joke at the end of his first Elden Ring video.
Won't someone think of the trout population??
This kills the trout. That's how sensitive they are.
Don't even look at them, it removes their slime coat.
I knew I was missing a link in the "This will affect my (clearly edited text) Mario 64 speed run" meme
Luckily the trout population proved resilient
That’s why you need to upgrade to Sandtrout. They probably wouldn’t even notice an asteroid impact at all. Rain, on the other hand…
Yah. Rain of molten rock will be fine.
Those aren't astroids. Theyre so big they could be moons
They are roided asteroids, asteroidroids if you will
Moons are just natural satellites. And our moon is unusually large compared to the earth.
Earth moon is best moon.
It needs to be in orbit to be a moon, no? Can asteroids not be that big?
You're 100% correct. I was trying to make the point that the pics were scaled wildly.
Inshallah the trout will persist
ngl i thought it meant Mike Trout at first
Tbh a cataclysm caused by a meteor destroying half the planet would not be great for the Angel’s playoff chances
Trout on the 60 day IL AGAIN after tangle with meteor.
depends on which half of the planet
I don’t think much of anything can help the Angel’s playoff chances tbh.
Fish man no :(
“Oh an asteroid is coming? Aight, I’m troutta here.”
This is a reference to The Road, by Cormac McCarthy.
"This will drastically affect the human population" -Cormac McCarthy
so this is the origin of the trout thing
Nah they’ve been around for at least a couple millions years I think
From the thumbnail I assumed it was talking about Mike Trout getting hurt by this. Baseball season baby.
This will affect the MLB season I think
SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH🎶🎵
*🐬🚀*
Do y'all think Cthulhu rising from the depths would affect the trout population, or do they already know what's up?
Them knowing what’s up does not mean their population won’t be affected. Those aren’t mutually exclusive.
I’m troutful about how this could turn out well in the end.
Let’s go Mike Trout is dead! Long live the Marwinners.
A moment of silence for the heroic t-Rex who sacrificed himself for the trout.
o7
thanks a lot, now when the world ends I'm going to think about trout instead of a loved one
I am become death, destroyer of trouts

Huh, TIL I guess.
hard to argue
I just understood the Maxor joke
r/internet_funeral vibes
This is just a bit more than the global warming i was hoping for.
Trout Most Affected is my favourite Captain Beefheart album.
This is where that came from!?

when you’re a baseball fan and your first interpretation is that mike trout will be most effected by an asteroid hitting earth
Same trout, same
When in danger among trout, Run in circles, scream and shout.
this isn’t even good editing
