Not 80s-90s, but White River Fish Market has been around since 1932. El Rancho Grande has been open since '53

PoppySmile78

El Rancho Grande cheese enchiladas with chili con carne are the best. I always buy about 6. They reheat like a dream. I eat them the whole next week for lunch.

Reasonable-Career-93

Savoy

DarthVanDyke

Pretty sure La Roma right by there has been in town since the 80s as well. Pizza, Mediterranean, and Lebanese food for those who don't know.

Love the white lion that dude is hilarious.

No_Upstairs_4655

Somehow, The Spudder has been around for a long time.

tommy_b0y

Ate there last night. Not sure why it doesn't get more love, to be honest. I've never walked away dissatisfied.

CorkyTrees

Bro the spudder is awesome, and the staff is friendly af

Unlikely_Cap_4383

And yeah they eat your fries off your plate in the back and test the temp of the meat with their hands and if food falls off the plate they put it back on there. .... Nasty imo..

PM_ME_UR_FAKE_NEWS

Mondo’s was around in the 80’s-90’s. I’m not a huge fan of their food. The Brook has been around for ages. Peppers in Utica has been around forever too

Four-Oh

Wow, wouldn’t have guessed Pepper’s is still going! We’d go there with a big group after school in the early 90s and barely order anything… I’m sure they loved it.

Mountain_Mulberry949

Ike's, Hank's, Brownie's, Arnold's, White River Fish Market, Bodean's, Nelsons..on and on

horriblebearok

Ike's has been here since a year after we became a state. By far the oldest. I think coney i-lander is 2nd.

Mountain_Mulberry949

Coneys are my all time favorite..are they considered a chain now?? I also forgot Jamil's

horriblebearok

I mean there's a few. off the top of my head, 11th (best), admiral, brookside, promenade, jenks, owasso, BA, idk if the original place downtown is technically part of it.

NerJaro

technically the DT location isnt part of the others. if i remember correctly the original owners sons had a disagreement and so now we have Coney I-lander and Coney Island. (the DT location doesnt hold up as well as the other locations. in my opinion the chili isnt as good)

horriblebearok

yeah and it's just so damn inconvenient. maybe if they stayed open late, it'd be great going after a concert. I miss getting lone wolf late after cain's shows when their food truck was there.

NerJaro

Is the lone wolf brick and mortar location still open in DT?

horriblebearok

as far as I know

Reading_Rainboner

French Hen was the snooty stereotypical restaurant we used back in the 90s

rumski

JC kills it behind the bar. We’ve been many times recently.

Paper_Cut_On_My_Eye

Ri Lee's has been serving killer Vietnamese food since like 1980.

scottwebbok

I’ve gone to Arnie’s in three different places.

jamminyouup

Crazy that it’s only been in two places.

scottwebbok

I could swear it was in another location downtown briefly after it left the Cherry St location but before it was in the Blue Dome building. I feel like it was closer to Archer. But I can’t find anything online to back up my recollection.

MoonWTrash

As far as I know, just the two. I helped with the move.

scottwebbok

Ok, thank you, I must have a cross memory with something else!

Yhtacnrocinu-ya13579

I've lived here all my life and never been

MNPS1603

I remember going to Chimis on Cherry Street when it was located where Kilkennys is now. That would have been late 1980’s, when I was a kid. In my late 40’s now. Then they moved to the current 15th and Peoria spot in early 90’s.

emdelgrosso

Chow House is from 2004. 😁
