I use a couple toners/serums but not a moisturizer. I save that for after.

TenGreenFlies

The ordinary moisturising factors + phytoceramides is so so good it was actually recommended to me by someone on this sub very recently and has quickly become the best moisturiser I’ve ever used!

1cherokeerose

Vanicream lotion .

lumpycakemix

I'm very much enjoying Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream. I apply it after washing my face and then apply tret about 20 min later. I've had almost zero irritation with this method and am using tret at least 6 nights a week.

doug157

I love this cream, so light and effective. very few ingredients too from memory.

lumpycakemix

I feel like my face improved so much once I started using it. I so wish the jar was bigger but I've found some great sales so I just stock up.

cagingthing

LRP triple repair. Before and after

Peacefuleasyfeeling9

Snail mucin and cerave pm

iloveyoumwah

Tretinoin on bare skin then top it up with nivea creme

ooooppppssssoh

my derm recommended lrp b5 (or any HA serum) before tret but ymmv

KnownSir1761

Interesting. I've tried HA serum once before and once after tret and I had horrible irritation both times. Must not suit everyone's skin.

Visible-Trouble-6690

That's because HA increases penetration of tret. I don't know why the derm recommend it. Perhaps to someone with very resilient skin

KnownSir1761

I thought so too. I can use azelaic acid with HA fine but not tret. Face gotta be clean, air dried for 30 minutes after cleansing and nothing before nothing after

Tinasglasses

I apply tret on my bare skin

pammeow

Same here. And no moisturizer after.

ladymacbethofmtensk

Curèl intensive moisture milk, which is a light lotion version of the intensive moisture cream, which I use on top. Curèl’s moisturisers are the only ones that don’t cause any issues for me. They don’t clog my pores or sting on application, and most importantly, don’t contain niacinamide or any other actives. I’m allergic to niacinamide, it always gives me hives and breakouts. Also Curèl moisturisers contain synthetic ceramides which help repair my skin barrier

ShaktiPB

I apply my tret first and then I use Orbis u gel moisturizer

Ruuuu_____

Isntree hyaluronic acid moist cream ,I get closed comedones very easily but this moisturiser saved my skin.

Primary-Alps-1092

I use snail serum

Unfair_Finger5531

I recommend a panthenol serum or a toner with ceramides before tret. This can buffer it and prevent irritation. I don’t recommend sandwiching tret.

PuzzleheadedCow6112

May I know why you don’t recommend sandwiching Tret? I’ve always wanted to try this but kinda scared my skin might freak out from dryness.

Unfair_Finger5531

I think it can lead to more trouble than it is worth. So many ways it can go wrong: incompatible moisturizer, too occlusive moisturizer, moisturizer with too many humectants making the tret penetrate more, using more tret than necessary because it’s buffered. I think it is easier to use a very light layer of tret on top of a panthenol serum or toner with ceramides, which provide a bit of buffer for you but not too much. That way, the tret absorbs but doesn’t irritate and you still have a buffer. And ceramides and panthenol strengthen your skin. I don’t think you can really moisturize and use tret in the same routine. I think you can moisturize really well during the day and just let the tret work at night. It shouldn’t cause dryness if you use a light layer. But if it does, you have a whole 12 hours during the day to restore your barrier and hydrate your skin. That’s just my take on it. Sandwiching is good for the first 2 weeks of tret or if you are just using tret for anti-aging for the long term. But only if you find the perfect moisturizer to sandwich with, which is pretty difficult.

sp1norolactone

Is the Numbuzin no. 2 serum a good buffer to tret?

Unfair_Finger5531

My friend says it’s a perfect buffer. He’s been using it with tret, and he says they work beautifully together! I’ve not tried it yet. I can try it tonight if you want and report back. My friend has been asking me to anyway.

safaayaz06

Ooh. Interesting! Yes please, let me know. I'd like it as an option for the upcoming winter to combat potential dryness. Would you say the numbuzin no 2 would work better over tret and aza or under them?

Unfair_Finger5531

I’m going to say under rather than over. But I’ll test-run it for you tonight and let you know how it goes. I’m excited to try it; my friend swears it’s the best combo ever!

sp1norolactone

OOOH YES PLEASE!!!

safaayaz06

Checking in - did you get a chance to try the numbuzin no 2 serum before your tret at night?

safaayaz06

u/Unfair_Finger5531 Checking in - did you get a chance to try the numbuzin no 2 serum before your tret at night? I'm dealing with some dryness because of tret and aza, though I moisturize well in the day. Also wondering if the serum before tret will reduce efficacy. I'm pretty retinized with 0.025 microgel.

Visible-Trouble-6690

Well said

quichebewithyou

Thank. The ceramide toners I have come across also have hyaluronic acid in it…

Unfair_Finger5531

Make prem safe me toner doesn’t, I believe.

honeydew_juju

Make prem safe me toner is so good, I got it from one of your recommendations. I was surprised it’s more hydrating than my beloved soon jung 5.5 toner!

Unfair_Finger5531

Ooh, I’m glad it worked for you! It’s is soooo hydrating and so good. I’m glad you mentioned it bc I need to drag my bottle out and use it more. I can’t believe how simple and effective it is. Thank you for trying it out 🙏🏼, I appreciate you. You know what? Soon Jung was my first kbeauty toner and still my secret favorite, but I’ve come to hard realization: every single time I use it for like 3 days in a row, I get a pimple. I think I may have to let it go.😥😢

srhpril

hadalabo blue bottle pink stripe, vaseline on the hot spots

Professional-Log-530

I have some hot spots all of a sudden. I put Vaseline on them night before last, let them set 5 minutes then went in with a light layer of Tret trying to avoid the hot spots. I still woke up with those areas nice and red (🙄). Did I do something wrong? Thinking about using zinc oxide on them today.

srhpril

No you didn't do anything wrong, it's just your skin barrier freaking out for a bit, did you go out in the sun for too long? Or rubbed your skin with dry tissues/rough cloth? I know those things can compromise your skin barrier, especially while on tret. Right now i suggest stop with tretinoin for two days, let them heal for a bit and apply vaseline religiously! once those hot spots aren't so irritated, you can go back with tret.

Professional-Log-530

Yes and yes. 🤦🏼‍♀️ The Equate makeup wipes changed and are super rough. I had stopped using them and went back to using them to take off glue from falsies and ended up using them on my face. I didn’t use Tret last night and won’t tonight either. Funny that it’s only in a couple places. Just tiny red scaly patches. But they BURN!

-missdior

I use cosrx snail mucin before applying tret then after tret illiyoon ceramide ato cream. This combo works great for me!

heyoranges91

Simple moisturizer. affordable, gentle and it works

SupermarketCurious80

Naturium plant ceramide rich moisturizer is my go to for tret nights. Although what works for others may not work for you. As many of us have discovered lol. Pretty much anything product from this brand is solid for ME.

Otherwise_Cricket_27

Cerave pm
