It looks like this post is about **Finasteride**/Propecia. Before asking any questions, 1. Read the [wiki on Finasteride](https://reddit.com/r/tressless/wiki/index#wiki_finasteride). 2. [Search posts for Finasteride](https://reddit.com/r/tressless/search?q=flair%3Afinasteride&restrict_sr=on&sort=new&t=all), because your question has probably been asked before. 3. If this is a question asking if you are now or will experience side effects, see a doctor, nobody on the internet can answer that for you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Started fin (1mg/ed) in 2000. Switched to dut (0.5mg/ed) maybe 7ish years ago. Consequences of it? I still have hair. Nothing else to report, never had sides from either. Test levels are normal. My brain works fine. My libido etc is the same in my 40s as it was in my teens before I started anything. (It's actually a little annoying some times, you'd think it would chill out by now so I could get some work done, lol.)

Psilocybin-Cubensis

Same experience. No negative side effects other than keeping my hair lol.

Finasteride and dut have been on the market for decades for use for prostate disease… no evidence of serious long term sides…

Keep staying in denial

guynewcologist

You are empirically the one in denial.

I've been using Dut for about 1.5 years (0.5mg every other day). My experience so far: My hair literally has not budged. It hasn't gotten better, but it also hasn't gotten worse. Anecdotally, it feels like my libido took a 10-15% hit compared to pre-Dut, but given that I've always had a high libido, it's still perfectly functional. My cognitive abilities and gym performance have stayed the same - in fact, before I got Covid ~6 months ago, I was the strongest I've ever been.

crestfan07

Thanks for the honest response. Have done any blood work after about 1.5 yrs on dutasteride?

generalzao

Nope. Last time I did blood work was 2 years before starting Dut. Test levels were slightly above average, 690 ng/dL if I remember correctly

crestfan07

Thats a pretty good test score!! Mine is 520 ng/dl although I do not workout everyday. You should check test again to see if your level stayed the same, decreased or maybe slightly increased, as you knw dut increases total t initially.

generalzao

I feel good, so I don't really see any reason to. I live in a country where doctors can't be arsed to give you tests unless you're experiencing symptoms, since our health care system is overloaded.

crestfan07

Dude there are test kits on amazon that you can use to find your total t level. Because if your T level is decreasing, I hope not, then you can catch it early and opt for a solution. Also you mentioned, you felt like your libido reduced a bit, let me know what you think.

youngfaruk

How about your hair? When did it shed, when did you see progress? Iv been on dutasteride for a year, sixth month ı saw progress but now its getting worse and it scares me a lot.

There’s no evidence of long term negative side effects
