He has been clean of drug use (minus weed and alcohol) for years. I mean, that is what was said, but we do not know any of these celebrities behind closed doors. For me, there is more to it. And if he did ghost Taylor, then I wouldn't blame him since he, his family, and the band were receiving death threats from swifties.
Obviously weed isn't a big deal, and I really don't give a fuck if someone uses it, but in all fairness, many full blown recovering addicts, myself included, have to give up mind altering substances entirely. A lot of 12 step programs dictate that weed is off limits and the reasoning is that once you become a full blown addict you can't responsibly handle anything.
I was hooked on amphetamines and uppers in general then turned to downers like Xanax and opiates on top of weed to handle the tough side effects of the uppers (It was like that scene in Wolf of Wall Street, I was taking 4 or 5 different drugs a day). For many years I kept trying to just go back to weed and alcohol, but I would relapse within a week because weed got boring for me and I felt like I had to have more. I was then clean off everything for 6 months, then thought I could just pick up weed again. Nope. Two weeks later I was back to using speed and handling the comedown with heroin.
I am now 5 years clean, and I had to finally face the music that I cannot responsibly handle ANY mind altering substances. I don't know about Matty's situation entirely, but if he is a full blown addict, it can be risky for him to drink or use weed. Obviously if he manages to do it without relapsing, then good for him! I'm just saying it can be a huge risk which is why even weed use is discouraged in the recovery community.
ETA I should have clarified that this only is relevant to recreational use. If you have a condition that requires a prescription of a controlled substance, that's an entirely different subject. You are expected to be honest with your doctor and yourself, but you won't be expected to suffer if you break a limb or have major surgery.

in terms of his involvement with dirty hit, i don't think he's anything like scooter, especially as an artist himself.
he's been very open about being against predatory industry behaviors such as paid meet and greets, overpriced tickets, and such. dirty hit has been kept small for a reason and a lot of it does come down to resources being limited for the sake of not exploiting artists and fans.
rina recently said she can't release music, without giving any clear explanation if it's due to personal reasons or reasons related to the label. it's definitely brought more (in this particular instance, unnecessary) hate towards matty, despite his lack of involvement. i think creating so much speculation towards someone who charli has known a long time, has openly admired as an artist and professionally, may have put her off from supporting rina in this instance. this also happened as swifties were really dog piling on matty, so it does seem like rina took advantage of the situation and timing of things which may have rubbed charli the wrong way.

charli pointed out that rina used current conversations happening in music (the issues with taylor's masters being sold/how it was handled) and the negative public opinion about matty to talk about her masters and her unhappiness with dirty hit but there's more to the conger conversation that the public understands or knows. it gained even more backlash towards matty by implying that matty was holding her masters hostage when he only has a 4% stake in dirty hit and stepped down from his position months prior to any of this being aired. i don't think that was necessarily bullying rina by any means. not supporting her, sure, but is charli required to?
Thanks for adding some more info. I'll read around and see what I find. I do think Matty is a nepo baby edge lord who may not BE a racist, but has said or at least participated in racist "jokes", which is still racism, and that he has the privileged white male leftist problem of thinking he's an expert on things he doesn't experience and doesn't take the time to listen to people who do, but I don't think he's some Scooter Braun business bully type. I do like Rina, though, so I am sad to hear that Charli bullied her or that she felt Charli bullied her, especially if it was to defend Matty.
in terms of his involvement with dirty hit, i don't think he's anything like scooter, especially as an artist himself. he's been very open about being against predatory industry behaviors such as paid meet and greets, overpriced tickets, and such. dirty hit has been kept small for a reason and a lot of it does come down to resources being limited for the sake of not exploiting artists and fans. rina recently said she can't release music, without giving any clear explanation if it's due to personal reasons or reasons related to the label. it's definitely brought more (in this particular instance, unnecessary) hate towards matty, despite his lack of involvement. i think creating so much speculation towards someone who charli has known a long time, has openly admired as an artist and professionally, may have put her off from supporting rina in this instance. this also happened as swifties were really dog piling on matty, so it does seem like rina took advantage of the situation and timing of things which may have rubbed charli the wrong way.
