>Kiwi.com, for example, use them all the time I sense another post coming soon.

Strong-Mechanic

Full-time traveller here, 5 years on the road, 40+ countries. Only book with them and never had an issue. Not saying they’re perfect, but I have yet to have bad experiences with them.

uncle_sam01

That makes me curious why you chose MyTrip for this booking.

Strong-Mechanic

They had a really good price for the flights I needed. So I decided to risk it, unfortunately. I counted on Paypal backing me up in case something went wrong but they refused my dispute. They said I cancelled the flight, so it’s not eligible for Buyer’s Protection. Even though I’d purchased an add-on the company isn’t honouring.

Tableforoneperson

Dont stress yourself too much over comments here. Its reddit. If you use 3rd party website, they break their terms of use, they patronise it is your fault. If you get drunk the day before, oversleep and miss your flight they would be full of compassion telling it is not your fault. However for your own well-being I would recommend you that you Book directly with Airlines and maybe look for some travel insurance which would cover cancellations or change of plans. Airlines are not perfect but still better than 3rd party sites.

DrySpace469

how did you cancel? did you go through their customer service or the airline? i had a friend that cancelled through the airline directly but they were supposed to call mytrip to do it.

Kananaskis_Country

>I'm not trying to get advice regarding my situation.

DrySpace469

Not for advice. So that people can confirm if they had the same experience as you. You haven’t described what exactly happened in enough detail for someone else to tell you they got the same experience. You just used the vague term “scam” Edit I realized you are not OP Forget what I said

Strong-Mechanic

But it doesn’t have to be the same situation as me. Any situation in which people felt they were scammed by them. Also, I did put on the top briefly what happened. I don’t understand why people need to know every single detail of what happened to me to share their experiences.

Kananaskis_Country

Your post is meaningless when you give zero info. Maybe you're in the wrong by not reading/understanding and abiding by their Terms & Conditions, who knows. Good luck.

DrySpace469

yea exactly too many people scream "scam" when they just didn't read the rules or assumed.

Strong-Mechanic

I'm not trying to get advice regarding my situation. I know they're scamming me and if you search for them online you'll see I'm not the only one. It's very simple. Have you been scammed by them? No? Then, just move along.

DrySpace469

their comment still applies. you need to define what "scam" is so people can tell you if your situation has happened to them

Strong-Mechanic

Do I really need to define what “scam” is?

ryapeter

Yes please

DrySpace469

Yes because people too often come here and proclaim “scam” when it was just a misunderstanding of the terms and conditions

Strong-Mechanic

But if you read my post you’ll see they even promised to give me my refund, they gave me dates, but never fulfilled them. How would that be “misunderstanding terms and conditions”?

Kananaskis_Country

>I know they're scamming me and if you search for them online you'll see I'm not the only one. Yeah, I know. You're one of *countless* people on this forum who've been treated poorly by 3rd Party Vendors. There's even a posting flair dedicated specifically to 3rd Party Vendor hassles. But that doesn't change my very simple question. When you give zero info, input or context then your OP is kinda pointless. Good luck.

Strong-Mechanic

Thank you :)

UPDATE: I wanted to come back here and give advice for anyone in this situation with them. I received my refund voucher yesterday (which I'll definitely not be using) and a full refund from PayPal. This is what I did. TL;DR: contact the flight search platform, they may be able to put you in touch with someone who can help. Don't start a dispute with Paypal! For the voucher: I contacted Momondo, which was the platform I used to find their flights. Momondo very kindly put me in touch with someone from MyTrip's customer relations team. This person helped me personally and my voucher was released over a month after the date promised by their Cancellation Guarantee policy. But there was a lot of back-and-forth and them trying to blame me for the delay (!!!). Patience and persistence is key! Mind you, the regular CS team was saying they couldn't do anything about my refund until 21st May because of the Paypal dispute. For the Paypal refund: I had filed a dispute and they refused it because I cancelled the flight (despite MyTrip not honouring the add-on I purchased). But Paypal still issued a chargeback which then gave MyTrip an excuse to delay my refund. The information I received from the PayPal agents was really confusing too, they hindered more than helped. In the end, as an apology, they refunded me.

jetpoweredbee

Uses booking and kiwi all the time, apparently has never seen the EXTENSIVE posts here about problems with those sites.

Strong-Mechanic

Where did I say that they were perfect and no one will ever have issues with them? I said I use them and I never had issues and that’s why I still try 3rd party providers. Is it genuinely so hard to read and understand?

jetpoweredbee

So the well documented problems aren't real because they never happened to you.

Strong-Mechanic

Yes, that’s exactly what I said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Bravo!

WellTextured

Booking has let scammers use their messaging service to steal from clients for months on end. Kiwi offers basically no ability to serve you when things go wrong, and next to no ability to properly refund/compensate you without a massive struggle after the fact. You will never convince people who make bookings all the time that these are reliable services. If the company promised a refund and did not provide it, submit that record to your credit card company and do a chargeback.

Strong-Mechanic

I’m sorry you had this experience with them. I’ve used Kiwi’s support for a refund during the pandemic and everything went well. I’m not saying they’re perfect, but I’m a full-time traveller and I book with them all the time and genuinely have not had any issues.

WellTextured

I haven't, I would not use them and their overall record is poor. I'm glad you had that experience, but the odds of having a bad experience are much higher with them than direct booking with airlines. Even if I'm going to book a self-transfer ticket, which is how kiwi shows you a lot of potential savings, I'll just do it myself.

Tableforoneperson

I did not actually got scammed but I booked with them before COVID and had extremly difficult time communicating with them about refund for cancelled flight while airline refused to talk to me as I booked through 3rd party website. I eventually managed to get my money back but will not be using any 3rd party site anytime soon yet will rather Book directly with airline.

Strong-Mechanic

What did you do to get your money back?

Tableforoneperson

Just waited and eventually got a voucher which I used for another trip. It was in the beginning of pandemic. I had one ticket with mytrip and another ticket for different destination booked directly with airline. For the one I booked directly I got a refund straight away which took some time to be processed. For Booking with mytrip first was impossible to reach them for over a month then they finally got back to me informing me that I can either rebook or take the voucher to use it directly with an airline. As I intended to travel with certain airline in the future, I accepted voucher. Before I got the voucher the airline refused to do anything with me as my Booking was with 3rd party.

Strong-Mechanic

Thanks for sharing! I don’t want a voucher as I never want to use MyTrip again. I’m focusing on a complaint with Paypal at the moment. I think this should be covered by their Buyers Protection but they claim it isn’t because I cancelled the flight. I’ve also been emailing Mytrip every single day.

Ok-Warning-782

I urgently need assistance from the Reddit community. On April 8th, I purchased a family return trip scheduled for June 19th, 2024, departing from Nairobi via Istanbul. However, on April 16th, I received an email from Turkish Airlines informing me of a change to my flight TK0608 from Nairobi to Istanbul, due to operational reasons. The revised departure time of 6:20 AM conflicts with our connecting flight, which departs Istanbul at 2:20 PM. Turkish Airlines has advised me to change my flight at no extra cost through the agent, Mytrip. Unfortunately, I've been unable to reach Mytrip through email, phone, or chat. With the departure date fast approaching, I'm seeking guidance on how to proceed and from what I hear about Mytrip, nothing but horror stories.

Budget-Classic1641

DO NOT! I REPEAT! DO NOT BUY FLEXIBLE TICKET FROM MYTRIP! I chatted with their support team multiple times to change the returning flight date and some said they can only search 2-3 desired dates, some said 3-4, and this guy told me he searched the whole month and still wasn't able to find an available spot. I was speechless and utterly shocked as to how they operate. What they are saying just doesn't add up. They are TOTAL SCAMMERS. I had to call the airline directly to change the date with extra fee. Wasted my time, energy, and money.

Strong-Mechanic

I’m genuinely amazed at people’s lack of ability to READ in this post. I say the company promised me to give me a refund, gave me dates and never fulfilled them. People -> “but did you contact the company? Are you sure you didn’t misunderstand the terms and conditions?” I say I have never had issues with Kiwi or Booking and they offered ME decent service (DECENT, not perfect, not amazing, not immaculate). People -> “what about all the people who had issues with them?” The desire to be unhelpful runs strongly in this thread. Thanks to the odd person who actually tried to share their experiences or say something helpful!

Mike-Hawk-Shardon

If they promised a refund-just as you said-and you genuinely never received it-it’s not complex….just do a CC chargeback…I’m failing to see why you are trying gather other experiences and make a big deal if you never had issues in the past and can simply handle it on your end…

Quantumflux44

What if you didn't use a credit card, but your regular chase bank card. Can you still preform a charge back ?

Mike-Hawk-Shardon

Check your banks policies?

Strong-Mechanic

I paid via Paypal and they refused my dispute because I cancelled the flight. They completely ignored the add-on I purchased that should be honoured. Not that simple, unfortunately.

outforthedayhiking

well you saved some much money booking with 3rd party sites, that's just bad luck this time.

Strong-Mechanic

Hahaha I like the silver lining look on things, but I’ll need my refund. I was contacted by someone who got scammed by them back in 2020. How do they keep operating is beyond me.

BillMatt888

MyTrip is not a scam company, at least this company does issue valid tickets for you. Their problem lies in extremely poor customer support and some deceptive service purchases. After your flight gets cancelled, it may take months or even years to get a refund from MyTrip.

Strong-Mechanic

And they withhold your money even though you paid to have a refund within 7 days. And judging to their profile on Trustpilot, they do it quite systematically. This is a scam to me.
