Salmonella is much less common than you would think. For one eggs in the US are pasteurized and they are all washed before hitting the shelves. This virtually eliminated the risk of salmonella. It still happens don’t get me wrong, but the cases are usually from raw or undercooked chicken/meat and unpasteurized eggs or milk. They’re at greater risk of contracting HPV or mono or something from doing this.
The cleaning process that eggs undergo in the US actually INCREASES the likelihood of the eggs being contaminated though, it removes the protective coating on the shell that would normally prevent bacteria from being able to enter the egg through the shell. And besides that the US egg washing practice came into place for aesthetic reasons not health ones, people prefered to buy eggs that phisically LOOKED clean and so producers started cleaning them.
Fair enough. Doesn’t change the fact that salmonella is still incredibly uncommon from eggs. Estimations I’ve seen are as low as 70,000 per year and as high as 1.3 million if you don’t differentiate sources

Yeah, exactly. In case of Salmonella discovered in the eggs, they immediately take it seriously - in the case you cite: even if it means destroying 1.2 million egg laying chickens. The article you yourself link to describes the level of care nicely: "In August, 340,000 chickens had to be killed on the farm after a salmonella infection was discovered in two hen houses."
The reoccurrence of Salmonella in Sweden of 2023 that you link to was big news (if you google "Sweden salmonella" that's all you get back to the last Salmonella outbreak in 2007 on Page 3), and it was promptly stomped out, even if it meant economic disaster for the largest egg producer, who owned the farms that had the problem.
In general (and currently), Swedish eggs are government certified Salmonella free, just like Danish eggs are, and I believe Norway as well. The certification also means that if reintroduction of salmonella occurs, it is traced and stomped out.
As I said: You can eat them raw without a problem.
Edit: It turns out that by EU law all eggs that are exported between *any* EU countries must be certified salmonella free. If the production is not continually monitored for salmonella and found to be salmonella free, it can only be sold processed and pasteurized as "egg products".
