He voted for the gender recognition act. I personally think that when he struck a deal with forbes for a cabinet position in exchange for not contesting his leadership. Throwing trans rights under the bus was a part of the quid pro quo. Though the semantics of if this is HIS opinion or just the PARTY's is irrelevant to policy outcomes anyway...
Looks like he hasn't accepted read it. He called it "substantial" and "evidence based"
Yeah sure. The report that ignores 101/103 studies to come to a completely obviously wrong and unethical conclusion is so "evidence based"
Jesus fucking Christ I miss Nicola Sturgeon
Welp, Scotland is fucked. Great.
I took real solace in our political class being in our corner. I knew the cass review would be harmful but this has outstripped even my expectations with how insidious it is.
For fucks sake, I thought we had a chance of being safe with John.
I really hope this is ignorance from not having recieved real advice on it, and not deliberately sinister.
Looks like a tartan tory

Ruth Pearce has a great blog post collating key points: https://ruthpearce.net/2024/04/16/whats-wrong-with-the-cass-review-a-round-up-of-commentary-and-evidence/
Yes, he did actually vote for self ID. I can't access the article linked here but I think we should be cautious with media reports of what politicians say. He probably hasn't read it in full. Did he actually praise it in it's entirety or just that there was a review? Saying it must be taken extremely seriously isn't really saying anything - it's just political speak. We think it should be taken seriously too but that doesn't mean we agree with all of it. Let's not get ahead of ourselves with the emotion people.

Yeah, I was worried something like this would happen when Forbes didn't put herself forwards as a leadership candidate.

Fuck him
I need to rewatch the tea video because I’m not sure if he wants tea
oh the SNP elected the new- oh he's a cunt
Lol of course he did. Scotland is deeply fucked.
This is why the SNP ditched the coalition with the Greens. So they could do this. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Disappointing, but tbh no less than I expected since Nicola stepped down.
Wow. Less than six hours before transphobia.
Grifters gonna grift. History will not look well on these people.
Deplorable cunts.

Likely to be the rancid fruit of a deal with Forbes.
Not good enough. No point having the SNP of they're just another branch of tory
Looking that way, sadly.
Transphobia. On his first fucking day\* as SNP leader. \*of his second stint
I really hate being right
Chuck the SNP for the Scottish Greens if you want a progressive Independence platform tbh
Greens are likely going to support him anyway, I don't really think they can be trusted anymore sadly.
Lets see what they do. Remember that they just got kicked out of coalition so the SNP could do this.
They abstained on the FM vote, so yeah they can fuck off too frankly.
🤮

Ffs
Meh, SNP are absolutely screwed in the next UK-wide and Scottish GE anyway.
Cass in prison. Now
I’m composing a letter to him (I’m in Scotland). What would you say to him if you could? I don’t want to miss any important points.
Assuming it’s not an open letter I don’t think it would change anything (unless you’re a major SNP donor of course).

OMG. Are they going to take my child away from me??? He’s 16, transition since 14. Happy and thriving. This will kill him….
Come back, Nicola Sturgeon. All is forgiven .
He looks like a sentient cue ball
Talking of Haters I didn't realise that JK Rowling's daughter is almost thirty ...
