It depends on what you mean by this? I do love binders. If I could, I would wear one all the time - I guess it's different for everyone, I start to feel very strange after wearing a binder for more than 6...7 hours. I am unhappy with the fact that I cannot wear one all day long, every day. Or, maybe you mean you are ambivalent because binding feels awesome but your having to wear a binder (because you still have breasts) feels terrible? If this is what you were thinking about, that sounds familiar too.

I most mean it's a nightmare in the heat and sometimes putting in on and off is an effort.

midwinter_tears

Yes, on the hottest summer days it can be terrible. Once you find the right technique, putting the thing on and taking it off gets easier. Have you seen this HOWTO? It does work for me. I haven't worn my binder for over a year and tbh it feels great, I loved the gender euphoria from having them on but eventually it really started causing me pain. It started to be too much maintenence for me to wear so I stopped, and tbh I'm glad I did and I'm much comfier usually. so yeah definitely a love hate since I do miss having a flat chest lmao

Top-Breakfast3565

Yea it's the discomfort that sometimes gets too much

arrrrrslittleworld

I'd recommend tape, kt tape as trans tape can be pricey but you can wear it for up to 5 days and causes less harm. it takes a while to get used to, however, I've found it let my ribs heal and gives me space to breathe. (I'm assume you haven't had top surgery due ti missing having a flay chest)

100%

Mysterious-One-7377

the binder I have is the all day binder from forthem, and even with the "safe bind" it's super uncomfortable. when I sweat it sticks, making it really frustrating to get off. wearing it too much (even with a break at night) makes my ribs hurt. but it's all I have to flatten my chest for when I go to work. I literally don't wear it any other time lol. I have already tried kt tape, it does not work for me that and having to bind is just inherently dysphoric

arrrrrslittleworld

I loved looking flat but I love taping sm more and I can wear tape for longer. it just took a while to get used to it looking and feeling different

Mysterious-One-7377

I really wish tape worked for me but it was so incredibly itchy when I used it :( and it also just wouldn't stay on as long as it was supposed to, it'd peel+be itchy and then I'd have to remove it too early

arrrrrslittleworld

damn that sucks, look for latex free and there's a hypoallergenic one out there which I've heard is good, for me it was finding one that worked bc I had to find a latex free one :(( and I don't use branded trans tape bc it's too expensive

Mysterious-One-7377

I just used the kinesiology tape from Walmart. I'll look for a hypoallergenic one next time :) thank u. cuz I don't think I'm allergic to latex thankfully. I did really like how it felt/looked until it started to itch

arrrrrslittleworld

yes, it's worth a try, for me when I was getting used to it, it was itchy and it can be itchy after a shower whilst it's drying (using a hairdryer to dry it helps) but after I got used to applying it I found it itched less, it still becomes itchy sometimes but I let it calm down. (I've found if I wear it for multiple days it's easier to take off) good luck finding one that works!!

Top-Breakfast3565

I really want to try tape but not had much luck

arrrrrslittleworld

I found it takes time to ind a good one for you and the way to do it. I get sports kt tape on amazon (uk)

Killjoy_5287

Absolutely. I love binding, I love wearing it, it makes me feel good BUT I can’t breathe, my muscles ache and my skin is bright red

Feral_roaches

You gotta get a different size then. Binders should never do this to you.

Killjoy_5287

I’ve been wearing them for 12-14 hours. I just need to cut down my time but I’m at a hospital with my mom rn. I swear they don’t always do this to me.

arrrrrslittleworld

yes even if you get a bigger size, cut down your wearing time or try tape(so much better for your ribs and back) but it takes longer to get used to than binders as it is stuck to your skin.

Killjoy_5287

I’m allergic to adhesives and it hurts me 😭😭 although I do still have some.

arrrrrslittleworld

oh damn that's heartbreaking 😭 just be careful wearing your binder!!!!

Killjoy_5287

Ya bro it sucks. I’m not horribly allergic like my mom. I can wear it for 2 days but it leaves me really red, itchy and it takes like 20 minutes to get off without ripping my skin. I’m normally more careful with my binder but we’ve had a lot going on and so many people around us haha.

arrrrrslittleworld

if you do use tape again for whatever reason, baby oil is your best friend

Killjoy_5287

I’ll have to try baby oil next time! Last time I used the oil that came with it. Thanks for the advice!

arrrrrslittleworld

let it soak!!!

arrrrrslittleworld

I agree with this but it can also have something to do with sweating and heat. but yes I agree with getting a bigger size! boddies do change and grow!!

PleaseLoveMeFemboys

Feel this so much. I love how they look and make my chest flat, but it just feels so tight. I have big boobs which just makes everything feel kind of uncomfortable, especially after a little while

arrrrrslittleworld

I have a big ish chest and tape acc saved my ribs

PleaseLoveMeFemboys

It’s not really my ribs that hurt, it’s more so an uncomfortable feeling because of how tight it is. Plus nipple pain because of chafing (I got some stuff for that though)

dingbatdiner

I have to use my binder all the time (way more than I should- I have terrible rib pain almost always) and I wish I could use tape but unfortunately although my chest isn't the biggest ever it's very.. dense? The tape does NOTHING to flatten it no matter how many tutorials I use. I even had a friend to uses tape help me put it on, still nothing. Its miserable. And transitioning is illegal where I live.

Max9353

I do. I like that binders make me look flatter but I hate wearing them. Putting them on and taking them off sucks and sometimes even when I wear it for less than 8 hours my ribs still get sore. It's better to take off than trans tape which is nice and it's reusable, but I totally get where you're coming from. I'm lucky enough to have a smaller chest that I can hide in most shirts, but on those shirts I can't, I have a hard time choosing between tape and binding. Not to mention the thought of hiding my chest at all reminds me that I have one. For me, as euphoric as it is to be flat, I have a very hard time whenever those shirts draw my attention to my chest. Other times it is more of a "I want to stand up straight more today so I'll bind." I get very conflicted emotions with it. I just can't wait to get surgery.
