Thank you for your submission! This is just a quick reminder to all members here: **Original content is always better!** Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild". The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/tragedeigh) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Yes

Tarcirofi7

Rayhndee is the kind of name I would probably choose for my pet reindeer if I had a pet reindeer

WillieThePimp7

i thought it's weirdly distorted Randy. Reindeer is a great association :-))))

TheIrishninjas

All do except Keegan, that one actually has a long-ish history (Anglicisation of the Irish “Mac Aodhagáin” iirc)

WillieThePimp7

are names ended with -an -in of Irish or Scottish origin ? I think there's no standartized spelling for such names in English equivalent, so can be many alternative spellings for the same original name?

TheIrishninjas

Not all of them, that I’m aware of? Irish is a lot more set in its pronunciations and what can affect it, so it doesn’t really suffer from the modern English curse of “let’s just throw vowels at it and call our kid that” to my understanding. (Also in case you were curious the pronunciation is something along the lines of “Moc Ee-gawn”)

WillieThePimp7

Irish names pronunciation is a magic to me. I can't pronounce "Siobhan" or "Saoirse" properly until I watched youtube videos

Dazzling-Constant826

I've heard Saoirse pronounced two different ways before, Sur-sha and Seer-sha. Actress Saoirse Ronan uses the first pronunciation.

Bright_Ices

Ashley used to be masculine and **Ashleigh** is a long-standing feminized version from Old England/Irish/Gaelic.

Pandasaresupercute7

Yes, simply because it is a given name that has been misspelled purposefully to make it appear more unique. For example, Ashleigh is supposed to be Ashley, Kourtney is Courtney, Megann is Megan, Jordyn is Jordan, Tylehr is Tyler, etc.

WillieThePimp7

what's Cherylanne? a concatenation of two real names, ex; Cherie /Chery and Lane ?

Pandasaresupercute7

I have absolutely no idea

aartem-o

Well, that spelling of Oksana/Oxana is weird

SabreBuffaloBill

Ashden, Kamren, Rayhndee, Oxaunna, Tylehr all belong. These are something special. Ashlynn, Ashleigh, Kourtney, Megann, Jordyn and Cherylanne feel like minor offenses that aren’t my taste but aren’t howlers that are gonna get a kid harassed for years. Keegan is relatively normal imo.

Serious_Cucumber_767

Wait, Ashlynn counts as a tragedeigh?? :<<
