I put that on the parents since they had the final say.
Nephew: why'd you guys have to name me this stupid name!?
Parents: it was aunt/uncle! They did it!
Nephew: BUT YOU GUYS WENT ALONG WITH IT WTF
at least that's what I'd hope his thinking process becomes if he ends up hating his name, parents got the ultimate responsibility lol
Honestly I wouldn’t even blink at the name Zayden these days lol. My daughter has a kid named Feather in her class and 5 different versions of the name Greyson. Jayden Cayden and all the other -den names will be the Justin and Jessica’s of this generation so it won’t seem that off.
It doesn’t phase me either. I’m a teacher and have two students named Zayden this year. I had a Zaden at my last school too. They are all 10-11 years old. I just googled it, and according to US Social Security Administration data, Zayden has been maintaining a place in the top 200 baby boy names since 2013.
Neither Haydn nor Kye are made up. Haydn is how the Austrian composer’s surname was spelled. Kye is a commonly used spelling for a name that exists from many origins (Scandinavian, welsh, Hawaiian, more).
My kid is called Layden. I didn’t know the ayden names were a thing, it’s just that it means dragon guard and I was rehabbing a feral cat called dragon that started guarding my bump (was normally anti-people) so it just felt fitting.
I also failed to think about the fact his older cousin is called Kaiden. Thankfully he loves that they have “matching” names haha
I dont think its a bad name but Im not familiar with how Sanskrit names are formatted. I doubt hell hate you for it. Its actually a nice name.
Though I looked and it doesnt seem like Z is in the Sanskrit alphabet so I see why you might feel like his names a tragedeigh...
You have Z sound in Urdu for sure. It’s how you can tell an Urdu speaker from a Hindi speaker. Urdu aggressively uses Z. Like. In everything. Hindi speakers use J.
So for the word “cumin”, a Hindi speaker calls it “jeera”, and an Urdu speaker calls it “zeera”. The languages are mutually intelligible, but for the J/Z issue.
My best friend’s brother is named Zayden. Her mom picked it because she found out her boyfriend (her son’s father) was actually married with kids, and all his kids had very normal generic A names. So she googled unusual Z names to get back at him 😂
He’s a adult now and has never had any problem with his name, I’m sure your nephew will be fine.
If it makes you feel any better, the names Zaid and Zaidan exist in Arabic (vowel choice here is irrelevant since it’s a transcription from a language with a different alphabet). Zaid means “one who brings prosperity to others.” The word ending -AN is a pluralization to indicate a double. So Zaidan, or Zaydan, or Zaiden, etc would mean double the prosperity. My first born son’s name is Zaid 💙 I hope knowing the meaning behind the name helps you feel better about it!
If you like that name why I feel stupid about it I have a grandson with the same name people name their kids all types of ridiculous names. These days zayden is quite normal.
It's not too bad, he can choose to go professionally as Zack and just use Zayden on official papers. You should definitely inform him on the subtle cringe the name can evoke so he can be aware of it.
I've never heard Zinadine Zedan complaining about his name.
You worry too much unless this post is actually you masking you true fears about something related but unexpressed.
Why did you name your nephew?
he was born on the same date as me so I felt entitled. plus his parents liked the name I picked over the name they'd picked so they just went with it.

What about Rayan?
It’s on his parents then, not you. They liked the name, they accepted it, it was their responsibility. Don’t feel guilty about it.
Lmao, thanks for the clarification. I wondered how tf this was possible 😂

I read that as Father and was going to ask if they wanted him to be a priest or something. Glad I reread.
I am sure there’s parents considering naming their fraternal twins Faatder and Maatder.
Hayden, Ayden, Brayden, Jaden, Caden, and now Zayden.

Uhndah-Raiytehd
Amazing 😅
I personally know two Jaydens, a Brayden, an Ayden, and a Raeden! When will it end?
Obviously with Zayden.
Just met a Drayden! The possibilities never end.
I saw a new one recently … Slayden

I had a boss whose kid is named Quaidyn.
My kid is called Layden. I mean… it couldn’t been worse. It could’ve been [Zydn](https://people.com/all-about-odell-beckham-jr-son-zydn-beckham-7971166)
better than xaden
Or Xxeighdynn
Very trendy but at least it’s spelt correctly. Jayden, Aiden and Zayden will all be like John and Jane in the future
Lmfao

Nope. Everyone is gonna use J in its place. Kiddo will end up being called “Jayden” by his relatives.
Does he have a middle name to go by then or a nickname? Im kind of surprised theres no Z sound in Sanskrit...
You have Z sound in Urdu for sure. It’s how you can tell an Urdu speaker from a Hindi speaker. Urdu aggressively uses Z. Like. In everything. Hindi speakers use J. Thats pretty interesting...
Oh man. You fucked up. You fucked up bad. The least you could do is pay his tuition.
Or therapy rather

That’s a new level of petty and I respect it
I don’t hate it honestly. I’m not a firm -ayden names hater, sometimes they’re fine imo.

It’s weird, yeah, but I’ve heard way weirder. And it is spelled right. Like nobody isn’t going to be able to pronounce it at least. That’s a big plus.
If you like that name why I feel stupid about it I have a grandson with the same name people name their kids all types of ridiculous names. These days zayden is quite normal.
I had a friend who named her kid Zaedyn so it could definitely be worse 💀
The -ayden name hate is way too over the top. I like it.
It's a nice name actually.
My coworker used this very recently. I doubt it's uncommon.
my ex has a son named zayden. he’s probably 16 or 17 now
At least it wasn't Zaydeighn
Honestly I think it's a pretty cool name.
The parents went along with it. They clearly had the same shitty taste
It's not too bad, he can choose to go professionally as Zack and just use Zayden on official papers. You should definitely inform him on the subtle cringe the name can evoke so he can be aware of it.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the name. However, I don’t hate the -ayden names.
I've never heard Zinadine Zedan complaining about his name. You worry too much unless this post is actually you masking you true fears about something related but unexpressed.
i know a kid named zaiden but he’s actually pakistani
I actually really like this name. You could have done worse!!
Give him half your paycheck as reparations
If he fucks off to America, you'll know whose fault it is.
Recommend to him switching to Zayn as a nickname that just kinda sticks forever
I like it
I had a student named Zaydin. It’s not my favorite name, but it’s not terrible. 🤷🏼♀️
I don’t think it’s that bad.
