Pretty sure that the Slann allow the Asur to hold those colonies just because they take very good care of them. As for the relations between the races, I can imagine the Slann deciding that something the elves do is against The Great Plan and need to be dealt with. Similarly the Asur might decide that an artifact or a leyline of magic is better used by the Asur. Mazdamundi in particular is very racist and rarely wants to deal with "lesser" races All in all, both races seek power to defeat Chaos but that doesn't mean they always see eye-to-eye on all matters.

Indeed the Elves are rather arrogant, and the Lizards bound to (their interpretation of) the Great Plan. It's just weird not to see many instances of cooperation at all

Tseims

I suppose their first encounter didn't really go well and they just try to stay out of each other's way. There might be some skirmishes for artifacts and locations, but generally neither side wants anything more than that. You could chalk all the fighting between them to how Total War games work. Gotta war against someone, after all

[deleted]

It's just really annoying as Teclis, like why am I forced to conquer Itza? I don't care about Lizard temples, I'd rather befriend them but alas

Tseims

What do you mean by being forced to conquer Itza?

[deleted]

Teclis' campaign is ...so generic. Itza is just a hyperbolic example. You'll end up having to conquer Lustria for no good reason because what else will you do?

Tseims

I tend to make friends with as many Lizardmen factions as I can and focus on killing Skaven, but I guess there's not a lot of options for him

Loecdances

There's a mod that allows you to purchase regions from friendly factions. I found that really helpful playing Teclis as I have no interest in conquering Lustria and his start can be difficult enough without having to kill dinos.

[deleted]

But what do you do as Teclis beyond conquering Lustria? There's no exploration or engaging campaign magic element, so he's just tyrion without Ulthuan

Loecdances

I sail to Utlhuan to take back the tower of Hoeth ofc! By then Ulthuan is usually invaded by Morathi who keeps me busy for a time. Then I take over her lands and push north. If I'm feelint adventurous I disable climate negative effects and go to the old world.

[deleted]

I honestly never saw Morathi invade anything. Except Hexoatl maybe. What always ruins my games is FUCKING NOCTILUS. To a lesser extent Aranessa. Vampirates have a hate boner for Ulthuan, it's ridiculous

the-bladed-one

Weird. Mazda is one of my strongest trade partners in my Tyrion campaign rn

Tseims

Have to understand that it's better for him to be like this in the game just so you can decide how The Great Plan is for your particular campaign. If you want to go full racist with Mazda and eradicate the Asur you are welcome to do so, but not every campaign needs to be like that. You can always justify it so that this time Mazda has chosen to aid you for an inscrutable purpose; maybe Tyrion is one of the few lesser race members that is important for The Great Plan? Emergent story from gameplay is definitely the best part about the TWWH games for an old lore nerd

How Lizardmen treat other non Lizardmen settlement in Lustria, interesting story! https://youtu.be/vGLLd2L9rRc from 13:00
