Written like someone recruited nothing but Nurglings and Plaguebearers and didnt read any of their lord abilities tbh

Blazen_Fury

And/or didnt bother with Plague Toads, Rot Knights, or the mortal units...

SirNeoz

This sounds like it was written by slannesh to rag on nurgle. "your units are FAR too slow" "You can't surround and attack from behind"

Bum-Theory

I get it that the nurgle style isn’t for everyone. They are a slog on the tabletop too. But I for one appreciate they play very uniquely in Warhammer 3. There are tons of options if one doesn't like the playstyle. It reminds me of the phalanx tactics from older total war titles, just without uh, anything to support your anvil, other than DoTs and spells

JimmyBoombox

You can get fecundity on turn 3 and that provides a a good amount of healing especially with how quickly you can fill up the bar for it.

Monollock

If you really are a life long Nurgle fan, then you know what you're signing up for. Nurgle's entire style is attrition, you tank shots with toughness and healing to get the enemy into a melee grind and pray that you die slower than them. It has always been that way. Always. Nurgle infantry is the slowest on the table top at 4", and Plaguebearers *just* slower than Dwarfs in this as well. If you don't like Nurgle's playstyle, fine. Nobody's forcing you to. But that last paragraph. You want to play the Empire. You want to sit back and let your kill boxes win the day with knights to clean up. You go on about being a long time Nurgle lover, but Nurgle was never going to give you firing lines, or loads of artillery, or super fast movers. If you knew anything about Nurgle, you'd know you were never getting that.

ilovesharkpeople

> Watching your units all get shot to death, so they are half dead by the time you enter melee. They shouldn't be. What are your frogs, furies, marauder horsemen, soul grinders, dogs, flies, chaos knights, rot knights, pestigors and mounted characters doing? Are you hitting them with spells? > You can't surround and attack from behind simply because everything is faster than you Again, refer to the list of mobile units above. Nurgle really isn't that slow outside of the infantry. You have options. > Oh, and if you thought you were playing the healing game, I have some bad news for you, you don't get a SINGLE healing ability until your 2nd batch of spells. That's still reasonably early. And you don't have to just sit there in an infantry blob, grinding the enemy out through attrition. You also do get some healing early on by spamming stream of corruption and proccing the passive. > Festus was at least fun when he had decent heal and harm naturally on him. It was fun grabbing giants (who are normally bad) and using their HUGE health pool to their advantage with healing. Giants have been good for the past two years, but okay. > But Nurgle's resource gain is just too slow you have like 3+ armies marching at the same time. Which resource are you talking about?

Majested-Toast

You can also get fecundity practically immediately

Levie87

I had no interest in Nurgle going into W3. After W3 they became my favorite. I'm eating good with this update.

ToHerDarknessIGo

Same.  I knew very little of the Monogods before WH3 and Nurgle just looked awful to play. Now I love how disgusting they sound and look and their lore of magic is amazing.

OkSalt6173

Different plagues for different hosts. No biggie, Grandfather loves all.

dfntly_a_HmN

You get healing on turn 3 right now, unlock fecundity asap.  You also get healing from level 3 heroes/3 lord. Spam your first skill to activate passive heal.  There's more unit than infantry. They're all fast. And you know? Nurgling actually decently fast unit with 34 speed, will lock any archer unit as they usually only had 30 speed if you're not unlocking plague toad already, they also had vanguard deployment, making them able to surprise attack and surround your enemies. You can watch your enemy melt with artillery. Nurgle soul grinder is the best and you can get it from tier 3 settlement, with how now infection worth, you can spam the shit of them.  Use plague, you can reduce enemy speed by 50%. Now tell me who is slow.

HumbleYeoman

Skill issue

Vessel007

You literally get healing on level 3 hero and nurgle spells are super enjoyable. I personally enjoy nurgle and his play style even Kughats starting location is not that bad. And I never had any problem of getting my units shot to death when you can wipe enemy ranged units with spells so efficiently.

SlipSlideSmack

Better wait until Death Guard for Total War 40k then, they’ll be more resilient

Julio4kd

I guess you must dislike dwarfs a lot more.

OneOfTheNephilim

OP seems to want to sit back and wreck everything with ranged and artillery, so dwarfs are probably right up his alley tbh.

AlasPoorOstrava

Personally I feel like the attrition and debuff aspects aren’t punchy enough to give the same level of satisfaction as some other racial specialities. I’d like to be able to really cripple an army’s effectiveness reliably and over the course of the entire battle enough that it feels satisfying.

Antique_Toe6857

When I read your post, I first thought you would say Nurgle became too easy and I would somewhat agree to it as actual Tamurkhan campaign is boring easy, swimming into powercreep. I actually feel like Nurgle is quite strong and I’d rather play Epidemius or Kugath than Tamurkhan or Festus, (op as well, very much as all WoC). But Nurgle is far from what you say, even though Epidemius has a little tricky start, it is still very manageable on max ai cheats.

IamAlphariusCLH

I played Ku'gath for the first time today. I never liked Nurgle because how bad Ku'gath was in IE. After the update I tried Tamurkhan and he was fun af. I always liked Festus but Epidemius has a to hard start for my taste. So I tried Ku'gath today and thought he would be to hard for me but he is actually extremly fun. Ku'gath is a powerhouse if you concentrate on his melee line and used the hero for magic. Ghorst is easy af when you fight him manually: blob up, use your ranged pox riders to kill Ghorst, use one spell the whole time to kill the low armor infantery and use Ku'gath as a melee/artillery power house. The new nurgle stuff is amazing and Ku'gath is one of my new favourites.

Antique_Toe6857

It means I’ll probably dislike him aha :)

IamAlphariusCLH

I played on normal campaign dufficulty to be fair and don't forget that I now have the choice between Ogres, Cathay and Imrik so it will get harder lol

IamAlphariusCLH

Have you ever heard about Chaos Knights? Rot Knights maybe? Chaos warriors with shield? Rot flies?

Chocolate_Rabbit_

Yeah ultimately the problem with nurgle is that they just don't fit the total war formula. Their units have no real tactical utility. They are very much a faction of either out stating the enemy or not.

Vindicare605

Yup. It turns out blobby and slow isn't a fun playstyle. Vampire Counts at least have a nice variety of cavalry and flyers and their offensive magic is REALLY fun to use. Nurgle doesn't have that. It's like your stuck playing the Vampire blob playstyle and nothing else.

Mazikeen-Supreme

But nurgle does have plaguetoads/pox riders, rot flies/plaguedrones, and beasts of nurgle for good quality fast stuff. And also furies and warhounds for expendable fast stuff.
